I'm posting this here more for curiosity than for wanting to see a TAS of this. There's the PC game which is popular and well known, it has some useful bugs like skipping the alliance or casting Fly right at the start. Maybe one day, we can TAS that with hourglass or something... Then there's the PS2 version which only appeared in Japan, and I found out about it just now by chance. It is said to be mostly the same. From what I've seen, they added a bit of a level to the beginning, and music tracks are different in each area. questions - Do the glitches that work on the PC version work on the PS2 version? - Since I'm not familiar with anything playstation-related at all, I want to ask what's the current best PS2 emulator? Can games be run full fps? - Is there PS2 TASing yet? I saw PS2 TASes from nicovideo - how are they made? - I would like a list of differences between the PC and PS2 versions. I would like to investigate when I get the chance.

Oh lord the Alliance Skip. Talk about eye candy a game-breaking bug - though you have to be crazy, awesome, or crazy awesome to make it work anyway. I can look into the PS2 version but somehow I get the feeling that it's going to fix said bugs. E: The PS2 version looks more like a PSX game than a PS2 one, which makes sense given MM8's original release timing. The impression I get is that it was originally developed to be ported to the PSX but then was changed to a PS2 port once they saw when the release date for that would be. Without updating the assets significantly - the music and sounds are pretty much identical and I know the intro smk is the same. It also looks slow to navigate menus but that's more because I'm used to mouse speed than any d-pad imitations. If the pointer can even be used in walking mode; if it can't then there's no alliance skip. EE: I've found a copy on ebay for roughly $40. Should get here by the time SGDQ is over.
Adventures in Lua When did I get a vest?

PCSX2. It's kind of like Dolphin with regard to system requirements; whether you get full FPS or not will depend on your machine.

With PCSX2-rr. It's an old build of PCSX2 that desyncs a lot and as Warepire pointed out, is generally unfit for TASing unless you have "inhuman patience". You'll probably want to use the latest version of the regular PCSX2 if you're just testing things.
