On this site, we make perfect movies, and then we surpass them. Of course, if we can surpass them, they were not perfect in the first place, but who would have known?
When "perfection" is defined as "as fast as possible", it requires some sacrifices. Indeed, this movie sacrifices a lot in the playability of the game. Full of tricks to pass through walls, tricks to avoid mandatory battles, tricks to pass through enemies relatively unharmed, tricks to acquire weapon refills in little time — there is very little in this movie left that resembles normal playing. Even death is used as a viable playing strategy that saves time. All of the tricks are still performed by the means of mere controller input, even though significant portions of the input were calculated by a computer program.
This movie is a considerable improvement of 03:04.40 to the previous movie; this is mainly due to a new technique which tricks the game into calling an 'end of level' object.
Of course, upon watching this movie, one does have to question something... is it Mega Man saving the world? Or Dr. Wily trying to save it from absolute destruction?

Survival Kids is a game about a boy or girl who gets trapped on an island and tries to survive and escape. There are multiple endings in the game.
The author aims for the fastest ending: ED 1. It is 00:35.65 seconds faster than the cancelled submission by Aqfaq due to new tricks, shortcuts and overall better precision.

In this game, Xena finds herself in a dream, set in a colorful, simplistic world, naive in its exaggerations and lack of realistic attributes. It's an open plain where the sun always seems to shine. But it's a foreign place, with Xena apparently having wound up there by an accident. She is lost, and has to free herself from the dream world.
Now, this nightmare of a game ends 00:18.28 seconds faster than before! To learn more about AKheon's improvements on this movie, you can read the author's comments.

If there's one problem with the SNES glitched run of this game, it's that it's over too quickly - there isn't enough time to enjoy the glitches. If you agree, this run is for you - it completes the Palace of the Four Sword available only in this GBA port of the game in a very bizarre fashion so glitchy that not even the game's palette retains any sense of normalcy.
This run improves the previous by just under a minute thanks to a new route.

Final Fantasy Adventure is the first game of the Seiken Densetsu (聖剣伝説) series, but it does contain some classic Final Fantasy elements. The series is probably best known for the SNES game Secret of Mana. This game was later remade on the Game Boy Advance as Sword of Mana. Its gameplay resembles that of a The Legend of Zelda game, but with level building.
In this run, Touch-me utilizes a glitch to warp across the map, cutting down the completion time by a lot compared to the warpless run. He also improves the previous run in this category by 51:22.57 minutes thanks to a big new warp glitch that allows him to reach the top of the Tower of Gemma early.

A movie aiming for fastest possible completion of Donkey Kong Country without bothering to enter all the bonus rooms. This run is 08:08.92 faster than the previous submission, mostly due to a new warp glitch that cuts out the earlier stages, and the use of several new tricks and glitches.
For more details, we suggest reading the submission details to understand what is going on.
If you desire more rolling primates, we recommend watching the 101% completition movie.

In this DOS game, watch as Spider-Man lives up to the adjective in the title as he glitches his way to the final screen of the run and completes the game in record time.

Not only was Castlevania: Symphony of the Night the first installment of the Castlevania series on PSX, but also the very first PSX TAS to be published. Follow Dracula's son Alucard as he glitches through the castle on a quest to end his father's life.
By using an SRAM generated from this run and finding other tricks, arukAdo improved the previous movie by a massive 05:03.37. You can read the author's comments to learn more about the other improvements.
A 100% run covering the whole castle is also available. If you prefer the main character to have muscular bare arms and pray to the rain gods to defeat bosses, you may enjoy the Richter version.

Note: Due to an emulation error, the audio in the ending FMV sequence doesn't play.

Although Legacy of Llylgamyn is the third game in the Wizardry series, it was released second for the NES because Knight of Diamonds, the actual second game, was deemed to be too difficult for beginners (though it was, eventually, released for the NES as well).
Here, the object of the quest, the Orb of Earithin, mysteriously appears in a shop by way of a lost battle and a glitch involving the occasional result thereof of causing a character to be lost in the dungeon, bringing the quest to a close impossibly quickly.

Gods is a game about someone who wants to become a god and gain immortality. This is a delicate and paradoxical issue, because temporal immortality can be bought at just about every shop in this game, but the hero still dies numerous times.
Another fun aspect is bomb-jumping, which allows both higher jumps and traveling vertically through walls. Almost the whole 2nd half of the game is skipped with this trick! However, it is not verified whether this trick will work on an actual console.
This is the author's latest version, improved by another 132 frames.

In the direct sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Link is back to being a lone boy without a fairy. One day, he is attacked by Skull Kid and his two fairies, Tatl and Tael, and they steal his ocarina. After pursuing Skull Kid, he is transformed into a Deku Scrub. Link continues pursuing Skull Kid all the way to the Clock Town (now with the help of Tatl the fairy, a more 'in yo face' version of Navi).
This TAS of the game is the result of three years of hard work and many restarts due to new discoveries. It features many never-before-seen tricks and glitches, and completes every dungeon without getting a single boss key. Everything is done out of order, in ways that will amaze the viewer and keep them on the edge of their seat the entire way through, including a whole new way of warping between the areas in the game's over-world, and a new method of traveling that makes even the longest stretches in the game seem tiny.
The author beats the game in two 3-day cycles (the previous route used three), and does so in a way that puts every past attempt at a 6-day challenge to shame.
Note: There are encodes of higher resolutions in the discussion thread. Also, if you know the cutscenes of this game by memory at this point and would rather watch an encode without them, it's your lucky day.

Ash reveals his dark side, using save corruption and direct memory manipulation to catch 152 Pokémon in the blink of an eye. Then he beats the game in less than a minute (in-game time) – without ever leaving his own room, bypassing Professor Oak's speech by walking through a television, bumping into a wall, and having the game inform him about 1 error.
This run is so glitchy that it's near impossible to follow what's going on without help; reading the author's notes is highly recommended.
To see a run of the first generation of Pokémon that doesn't take advantage of save data corruption, watch the movie of the Blue Version.

A Boy and His Blob: Trouble on Blobolonia (1989) is a popular, whimsical game in which a shapeshifting blob (named Blobert) from the planet Blobolonia teams up with an Earth boy to overcome obstacles on both planets and to defeat Blobolonia's evil emperor.
This movie is 00:14.94 seconds faster than the previous version by Aglar, by using a new route.

This movie proves the benefit of sleeping in late. In a departure from most runs, which try to start as soon as possible, the authors avoid any input for over two minutes to enable a faster route.
This Wario game is a fairly unique platformer where you not only play as "the bad guy", but normal damage is replaced with various status effects like catching on fire. In addition, the use of these effects is needed to complete the game.
This run beats the previous movie by 1 minute and 35 seconds through the use of new tricks such as clipping into walls to reach out-of-bounds goal doors, which are only present in this version of the game.
There is also a 100% run of this game on the colorful GBC version.

In this game featuring the famous SpongeBob SquarePants, SpongeBob stumbles upon a legendary statue that opens the way to the Dutchman’s Underworld. SpongeBob must unlock the statue and defeat the Flying Dutchman to get the Golden Spatula and become the Master Fry Cook.
The authors improved the previous movie by 01:19.40, because of a new route and the fact that SpongeBob has mastered the art of flying a new glitch that allows him to jump very high. In fact, with the spring shoes equipped, he can go up as high as he wants until he hits an object. For more information, check out the submission text.
This run is a collaboration between the previous two authors, CoolKirby and jlun2, and nitrogenesis, who discovered the jump glitch and made two submissions before being bested by jlun2's attempt. This run is a whopping 00:13.10 faster than the best attempt by a single author. Teamwork is strength!

This is the second and last true Mario game for the Game Boy. It features unique power-ups like carrots and bubbles, and allows the player to go through each of the worlds in any order. It also meant the first appearance of Wario, who would become a staple character for Nintendo.
This run triggers the game ending by corrupting the memory and putting the "credits" value into the "next level" address.
This run improves the previous movie by 00:19.08 seconds, mostly by finishing the first level quicker by taking a shell and performing the pipe glitch death.

This is a really, really fast TAS through Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance played with Maxim, who is only available after the game is beaten once. Most of the game is glitched through by being stuck in different walls, so it's hard to explain what happened in this run; see it for yourself.
This is a 1 frame improvement over the previous run by gstick.
If you like this run but have a craving for more Maxim action, be sure to check out the Maxim warpless run.

Note: This movie starts where the main quest movie left off. We do not usually accept movies beginning from a save. Please read our rules to see our reasons.

Rockman & Forte (ロックマン&フォルテ), known as Mega Man & Bass in the Western world, used to be the last game in the original Rockman/Mega Man series, until Rockman & Forte Mirai kara no Chōsensha (ロックマン&フォルテ 未来からの挑戦者) was released for the WonderSwan.
This time around, Dr. Wily has his own creation turned against him, allowing the player to use Mega Man or a bad guy!
However, in this run, the players only use Mega Man and collect each and every CD in the game, which shouldn't be possible using only one character. Then again, many things happen in this movie that weren't intended to be possible.
This run is a collaboration between sparky, the current author of the other branches for this game, parrot14green, the author of the previous "100 CDs" run, and woabcfl, the author of the Rockman no Constancy runs. It improves the previous movie by 01:40.97. You can read the authors' comments for more details.
There are two more Rockman & Forte runs to watch on this site; featuring completion of the game with Rockman and Forte as fast as possible, without worrying about CD collection.
