Barnstorming is an Atari 2600 video game designed by Steve Cartwright and published by Activision in 1982. The goal of the game is to fly through barns, while avoiding windmills and birds. There are four difficulties, going from 10 to 25 barns; this run uses the easiest one.

Boxing is a game for one or two players which is played from an overhead point of view. The game lasts for two minutes, and the player who can earn the most points in that time wins. The game also ends if a player earns 100 points in total, netting a knock-out.
You earn one point for a long jab and two points for a close power punch. Two difficulty levels are included which can be set individually for each player.

Checkers is a video game based on the board game checkers. It was made for the Atari 2600 by Activision. What's notable about this version of the game is that the screen turns black when the opponent AI is computing moves to make against you, and given how fast the Atari 2600 is, a regular game can take nearly an hour to play.
Winslinator carefully chooses moves that minimize the amount of time the AI takes to compute its own moves in order to beat the game in record time. The strategy used here is not one that can beat the AI in the fewest moves, but one that can beat the game in the least amount of time. You can read the author's notes for more details.

Hangman is a simple guessing game that is usually done on pencil and paper. With a set number of blank spaces representing a word or phrase, you guess which letter appears in that word or phrase. Guess right and the letter appears in one or more of the blank spaces. Guess wrong and a stick figure body part is added to a noose. The game ends when either all spaces are filled or the stick figure is complete.

Pepsi Invaders is a reskin of Space Invaders that was privately commissioned by the Coca-Cola Company. According to legend, only 125 carts were made and distributed to various Coca-Cola executives, making it one of the rarest video games of all time. The main difference between this game and vanilla Space Invaders is that you can only shoot one bullet at time, as the trick to having two bullets on-screen at once doesn't work in this game.
Nevertheless, ShesChardcore manages to work around this disadvantage and complete a single level in record time.

In Skiing, your goal is to ski to the bottom of the mountain in the shortest time possible. The mountain is treacherous with plenty of trees and moguls in the way! There are two different modes of gameplay. In slalom mode, there are a series of gates you need to ski through; missing any will result in a penalty to your time. In downhill mode you just need to ski to the bottom as fast as possible. Each mode includes five different skill levels which affect the length of the course (and the number of gates in slalom mode.)

Yathzee [sic] is one of many ports of the dice game Yahtzee to the Commodore 64. The goal of the game is to score as many points as possible by rolling five dice to make certain combinations. Points are earned depending on the scoring category chosen. A Yahtzee is when all five dice have the same number and is worth 50 points, the most of the categories. Unique to this particular port is the usage of a synthesized voice, which sounds pretty rough due to being on an 8-bit computer.
nymx decides to max out and glitch the score counter by consistently scoring Yahtzees many times in a row. The synthesized voice was kept in to showcase its ability, despite being able to save an additional 43 seconds with it turned off.

Resident Evil 4 features a completely new story and an innovative "over-the-shoulder" third person perspective that replaces the fixed camera system of the previous three Resident Evil games.
Special agent Leon Kennedy is on a mission to rescue Ashley Graham, the daughter of the U.S. President, from a sinister cult in a remote rural part of Europe. Leon must fight hordes of violent villagers and mutated monsters on his way to save her.
The Mercenaries is an unlockable minigame in Resident Evil 4. It is unlocked by completing the main game regardless of difficulty. The objective is to kill enemies to earn points before the evacuation chopper arrives in the allotted time.
In this run, Ubercapitalist plays through the Castle level of The Mercenaries game mode using Wesker. He obtains the maximum amount of kills and the highest score using multiple weapons and major amount of luck and spawn manipulation. Ubercapitalist explains in great detail his process in the submission text.

Death Race is a standalone challenge within F-Zero X, so a standalone movie seemed the best way to present it. The goal is simple: destroy the other 29 ships as quickly as possible according to the in-game clock.

Battle Chess is a chess game for the NES with a few neat gimmicks. In addition to standard 2D depictions of chess pieces you get to play with, you also have "3D" pieces that walk and interact with other pieces like they're real people. You also have animations for when pieces overtake and destroy other pieces. There are also features to aid in gameplay such as letting the game suggest moves to you if you're stuck and being able to take back moves and play again.
adelikat decides to play the game using 3D pieces on the hardest difficulty. Moves have to be considered not just to minimize CPU thinking time, but also to take the lengthy "3D" animations into account and minimize those as well. The Uzebox is a retro-minimalist homebrew game console. It is based on an AVR 8-bit general purpose microcontroller made by Atmel. The particularity of the system is that it's based on an interrupt driven kernel and has no frame buffer. Functions such as video sync generation, tile rendering and music mixing is done realtime by a background task so games can easily be developed in C. The design goal was to be as simple as possible yet have good enough sound and graphics while leaving enough resources to implement interesting games. Emphasis was put on making it easy and fun to assemble and program for any hobbyists. The final design contains only two chips: an ATmega644 and an AD725 RGB-to-NTSC converter.
