Adventure is a first-party game released in 1979 for the Atari 2600. The goal of the game is to find the enchanted chalice and return it to the gold castle while avoiding the three dragons guarding it. It was the first action-adventure game, and also the first game to have an inventory, a continue system, and a widely-known Easter egg.
The game has three skill levels: Skill Level 1 has a small and straightforward map, Skill Level 2 has a bigger map and more elements such as a bat that flies around and takes stuff that it touches, and Skill Level 3 is basically Skill Level 2 but under a randomizer.
ShesChardcore plays Skill Level 3 and manipulates both the randomizer to get the best map and the bat to juggle items and deliver the chalice to the gold castle while the player character sits outside the castle gate and gets eaten by a dragon.

E.T. The Extra-terrestial, based on the film of the same name, is one of the worst video games ever released. It contributed to Atari's massive financial losses during 1983 and 1984. The game was developed in five weeks and Atari decided to skip audience testing for the product due to time limitations.

Jungle Hunt is an arcade game produced and released by Taito in 1982. The original version of the game, Jungle King, was the subject of a lawsuit levied against Taito by the estate of Edgar Rice Burroughs for copyright infringement for using a likeness of the Tarzan character. Jungle King featured a long-haired feral man in a fur loincloth swinging from vine to vine in the jungle, and most damning of all, an unauthorized reproduction of actor Johnny Weissmuller's famous Tarzan yell. As a result, the hero of the game was replaced with a stereotypical Victorian era "gentleman explorer", the vines were changed to ropes, and the Tarzan yell was replaced with a short tune. On a technical note, Jungle Hunt is one of the first games to feature parallax scrolling. And the music has a rousing jungle beat! Jungle Hunt was later adapted for the various home gaming platforms of the day, including the Commodore 64 (of which we have a TAS of) and the Atari 2600.

Also note that this movie is about 42 seconds longer than the previous movie. This is due to the inaccurate (shorter) FDS load times emulated by Famtasia.

One Chance is a storybook-style Flash game by Awkward Silence Games released in December of 2010 to critical acclaim. The premise starts with a cure for cancer being found and released into the Earth's atmosphere in a gaseous form. However, this cure turns out to not only kill cancer cells, but any living cell it makes contact with. Dr. John Pilgrim, the player protagonist, now has 6 days to create an antidote before literally all life on the planet perishes. One unique characteristic of this game is that it can only be played once, and cannot be replayed again if it's completed in any way.
In this run, Spikestuff aims to get every possible ending in the game as fast as possible with the use of a modified Flash file that allows for replaying the title. The same thing can be done on the original Flash Player by disabling the Local Storage setting, but the version of Ruffle used for this run does not have that feature.

Metroid II: Return of Samus is the second game in the Metroid series, taking place immediately after the events of the NES Metroid. Samus arrives at the planet SR388 to exterminate all metroids and eventually succeeds.
This movie by Cardboard puts the Spring Ball and Spider Ball to great use to compensate for the lack of items, and achieves victory in the shortest time possible.
This is a 69 second improvement over the author's previous movie. The in-game time is 43 minutes.
Note: This movie does not use secret worlds, also known as "the select glitch".

Published on 10/8/2007
This is Metroid II: Return of Samus completed with all the items collected. Being truthful to the original Metroid values, the game holds many items cleverly hidden, so finding all of them is not an easy task.
That being said, Metroid II doesn't keep track of the collected items' percentage. Moreover, the game has two excessive Energy tanks and an additional copy of each beam. It's been agreed that the author should take all the E-tanks, and at least one copy of each beam. However, due to the apparent linearity of this game, collecting so many additional items doesn't make the movie dramatically slower.
This movie is nearly 6 minutes faster than Alter's previous movie due to better precision, faster Metroid fights, and missile planning.
Note: This movie does not use secret worlds, also known as "select glitch".

Published on 8/13/2008
Selected words from the author:
"After parsing through the user's manual for her Power Suit, Samus discovered that the Chozo have endowed it with the power to interact with the fabric of reality immediately surrounding the planet SR-388 by simply switching between her beam and her missiles. What luck that she should receive an assignment to go to that planet!"
This run extensively glitches the game to the point where Samus moves to rooms that are glitched and/or weren't there before. Viewers are advised that this run may induce feelings of confusion and disorientation.

Rolan's Curse is like a simplified version of the NES Legend of Zelda with slower gameplay and more restricted game world, resulting in a primitive hack-and-slash experience. Nevertheless, there exists an interesting storyline: The kingdom of Rolan has been invaded by the forces of some evil being called Barius. However, in this movie the final boss is never actually seen. Instead of meeting Barius face to face, the hero dies while defeating the first level boss. The game then decides to freak out and end right there, declaring the rest of the story unnecessary.
While this run appears to be slower than the previously published movie due to more accurate emulation, it is in fact faster by 16 frames if emulation differences are not accounted for.
