Ghouls 'n Ghosts is the sequel to the brutally hard Ghosts 'n Goblins, and is brutally hard in its own right. This run is of the original coin-op version, which is most similar to the Genesis one. One of the major differences is less armor from chests.
Creative use of damage and picture perfect boss fights combine with some glitchy looking jumps as xipo takes on Lucifer's many demons. The game is completed twice (which is necessary to get the ending) and along the way we are treated to some fabulous Engrish and more information than necessary about the damsel in distress.

Warriors of Fate is a 2D side-scrolling beat 'em-up and sequel to Dynasty Wars taking place in ancient China. Akkila-orkhan, the dark lord of Shang-Lo, has decided to conquer the neighbouring countries. The wise Kuan-Ti has summoned the five greatest warriors of the lands to stop this from happening.
xipo completes the game in record time.

Captain America and the Avengers is a game developed and released by Data East in 1991. It features the Marvel Comics characters The Avengers in a side-scrolling action platform to defeat the evil Red Skull.
In this run, Xipo takes a full advantage of a forward slide and all types of Captain's shield attacks, he even swims on the acid in it! Though he ignores the power-up system, because collecting the poles he would lose more time than could be gained by more powerful attacks.
This run is 00:10.45 seconds faster than xipo's previous movie due to skipping two "Red Alert" screens.

This game, ostensibly a spin-off of the Contra series, began life as a completely unrelated game, yet still manages to invoke the spirit of the other games in being an insanely difficult, one-hit-kills-you shooter.
Contra Force offers a selection of one of four characters, a jumping glitch involving the pause screen, and lots and lots of lag - and yet the game is still completed remarkably quickly.
xipo improves the previous TAS by 2 minutes and 27.62 seconds, thanks to better lag reduction, new glitches and better optimisation.

Demon Sword (1989) is the kind of a game that Legend of Kage should have been.
It features a hero named Victar, who can easily jump on a tall tree (and sometimes over it, since he just can't jump much lower) and is willing to defeat the evil demon that conquered the world. The key to defeating it is Victar's sword, which is conveniently broken into pieces that must be collected over the span of the game.
So watch his sword get bigger and more powerful every few minutes, until its wielder finally reaches maturity decides it's big enough to save the world.
Xipo comes back to this game with yet another large improvement: This time 108 seconds were saved over the previous movie. It was achieved by manipulating enemies to drop speed upgrades upon their death.
Note: This movie was created using an overdumped ROM. It needs "Demon Sword (U) [o1].nes" to playback properly.

Double Dragon 2 is a beat'em-up game starring Billy (or Bimmy, depending on the game version) and Jimmy Lee in a quest to get revenge on a gang for killing Billy's girlfriend. Their journey starts on city streets, but it eventually goes to a variety of places like a helicopter, a dark forest, a haunted mansion, and a final fight bordering on the supernatural. You must play the hardest difficulty, Supreme Master, in order to reach the true final boss.
One interesting feature of the game is that some very powerful moves can only be used from a crouching position, usually after landing from a jump or getting up from a knockdown. This is why you see the player jump so frequently.
This run by xipo plays the game with only 1 player. It is slower than the two-player run largely because it can't use tricks like the two players hitting each other with flying knees. However, there are still some interesting tricks and strategies in this movie well worth watching.

Double Dragon 2 (1989) is a beat'em-up game that shows the true value of teamwork. Despite sibling rivalry, Billy and Jimmy help expedite their common goal with well-timed knees to each other's faces.
This new version by xipo is 00:18.52 seconds faster than the previous effort by adelikat. Most of the improvement came from better application of glitches.
If you're more a fan of runs where one macho man defeats an entire gang alone, there is also a one-player run available.

In this movie, the author speeds through the game, beating up all the bad guys quickly and efficiently, making full use of each character — and killing them off when they are no longer useful. The characters' special abilities are abused to provide some unorthodox shortcuts.
This is the author's 4th version and is an improvement of about 6.46 seconds over his previous movie.

The Cobra Command threatens the world and the G.I. Joe team is needed to stop it!
G.I. Joe (1991) is a difficult platformer because of its intricate routes and bosses, but the author makes short work of both. In particular, this movie sports some of the shortest boss fights of any game. It also provides entertainment through varied character and vehicle use (thankfully, the game still manages not to lag immensely even with all the action thrown in).
This is an improvement of 107 seconds to the previous movie by Ferret Warlord.

Mighty Final Fight is modeled after its arcade cousin Final Fight but features more cartoon-like graphics and lacks multiplayer.
This time, Guy takes on the many enemies that plague Metro City. In addition, he doesn't take any damage, nor does he die. This TAS improves the previous publication that used Haggar by 1 minute and 0.47 seconds.

In this Japan only game, our psychic hero with a magical trident must defeat a variety of enemies, including possibly trolls. The kind with big pink fluffy hair.
This run features no death and very accurate use of weapons. The trident in particular is very similar to Mega Man V.

The guy with an infinite supply of ammo and insatiable bloodlust is back! Known as Probotector II: Return of the Evil Forces in Europe, this game is, implicitly, Contra 2. Without the 2.
This movie is 00:27.02 seconds faster than the previous run due to a new trick that allows the final boss to be completely skipped in a blaze of glitchy glory. For more information, please read the submission comments.
We also have a run that uses two players, but forgoes the final level glitch.

The Adventures of Bayou Billy (1989) contains a trinity of genres: beat 'em up (like Streets of Rage), sniping (like part of Golgo 13), and car racing (like Rad Racer). In the game, "Bayou" Billy West fights his way through Louisiana en route to New Orleans in order to save his kidnapped girlfriend, the luscious Annabelle Lane.
The American version of this game is a lot more difficult than the Japanese one (Mad City), although this video makes it seem easy.
