All three of them can run, duck, crawl, climb, jump, as well as hang on trees, ropes, and so on. You'll encounter many obstacles and enemies, both regular and boss-like, which you'll have to overcome and defeat.
Challenger clears the game in record time, thanks to a glitch allowing one to zip through walls.

Cadash is a sword and sorcery video game which combines elements of both the role-playing video game genre and the platform genre. The game was originally released for Arcade machines by Taito in 1989, later ported to home video game consoles such as the TurboGrafx-16 in 1991, and the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis in 1992.
It isn't the most straightforward of platformers, seeing how you can actually gain levels and buy items in this one. There are also mandatory items to fetch and quests to complete in order to advance.
In this run, Challenger beats the predecessor movie from nifboy by 06:22.28 minutes. The improvement is so huge thanks to using 2 players, new tricks and glitches, better boss fights, and greater movement precision.

Sonic Blast, known as G Sonic (Gソニック) in Japan, is a platforming game for the Sega Game Gear released in November 1996. A similarly titled game, Sonic 3D Blast, was released in the same month for Sega's Genesis and Saturn consoles, though the games had different gameplay, plot, and a separate development team, as this game was developed by Aspect, whereas Sonic 3D Blast was a joint venture between Traveller's Tales and Sonic Team.

Bionic Commando (1988) is a platform game with a hero who can't jump, but can quickly latch onto objects with his bionic arm. The name of the original (Japanese) version of the game literally translates to The Resurrection of Hitler: Top Secret. Nintendo censored the Nazi references for the North American version.
This is an improvement of 56.28 seconds over the previous movie, mainly thanks to a new trick in Area 12 where if damage is taken from an enemy at the same frame one would normally take damage from a barrier, one'd pass through the barrier, assuming the player's position is correct.
For more swinging goodness, check out these runs of the Game Boy and arcade versions. There is also an "all items" run which completes the optional stages as well.

Challenger improves one of the most well optimised runs on this site by 21 frames (roughly 0.35 seconds). However, due to the FPS difference between FCE Ultra (flat 60 FPS) and BizHawk (roughly 60.098 FPS), the improvement appears to be 1.47 seconds.

Simon is taking another shot at this castle, but feeling horrible for the destruction he caused last time, he is now trying to respect Dracula's property and leave the place untouched (even if his intention is to kill the count).
As a minimalist variation of a pacifist goal, this movie does not contain any destruction in the levels: candles and walls are left intact, items stay untouched, and no enemy is harmed — with the exception of the bosses, who are killed mercilessly with the help of the "critical hit" glitch.
With Simon sneaking by most enemies with no subweapons and only his leather whip, this ends up being quite a stealthy run.
Challenger and Grincevent improve the previous run by 28.12 seconds, thanks to better optimisation and better manipulation. Please read the authors' comments for more details.

Prince of Persia is a 2D platformer that is commonly regarded as a progenitor of the cinematic platform genre. Rather than following the more common jump-and-run mechanics, it focuses on careful advancement through fairly complex levels, emphasizing the protagonist's vulnerability and survival aspect. Rotoscoping technique is used to give more realism to the animation of the characters' movements.
This run by Challenger, done on the TurboGrafx CD port of the game, defeats Jaffar in record time, by setting the speed to the fastest one available.

Kenseiden follows the story of Hayato, a samurai looking to retrieve five ability-granting scrolls and kill some evil warlocks. Normally, this involves battling through sixteen levels, the last several of which are very difficult without the abilities gained from the scrolls.
This run forgoes all but two of the scrolls and heads directly for the final round, as opposed to the 100% run which finishes all of the stages and collects all the scrolls.
While this TAS appears to be slower than the previous movie, it is in fact an improvement of 1.76 seconds when only considering time saves during the levels, resulting from better optimisation and a new strategy at the final boss.

The second set of encodes feature a re-synced version of the TAS done on the Japanese version with the FM sound. Due to the shorter boot time, the main gameplay starts about 7.35 seconds earlier.

Kenseiden follows the story of Hayato, a samurai looking to retrieve five ability-granting scrolls and kill some evil warlocks. This involves battling through sixteen levels, including four rounds of impossibly difficult "training".
It's a prime infuriating example of fake difficulty, as Hayato moves incredibly slowly and there are generally an impossibly large number of enemies on the screen at any given time (especially bad in the training stages, where one hit sends you back to the beginning).
This version of the run collects all the scrolls and bonus upgrades (as opposed to the any%).
While this TAS appears to be slower than the previous movie, it is in fact an improvement of 5.22 seconds when only considering time saves during the levels, resulting from overall better optimisation and a new strategy at the final boss (the same one as in the any% TAS).

King's Quest is a popular adventure franchise for the PC by Sierra that focuses on exploration and puzzle solving. This movie features one of the few console ports of any Sierra adventure game. Notably, it features improved graphics and sound as compared to the original, which is usually not the case for these ports.
Usually this game would take many hours of wandering, collecting objects and solving problems. The authors however are able to focus on key events and manage to beat the game in less time than Super Mario Bros...
This run is a 00:02.12 second improvement over the predecessor movie, if you count the actual gameplay. The real time is longer, because the BIOS screen is included this time, and the movie length is bigger, because the authors decided to advance the ending to the real final screen, which required further input.

This sequel puts you back into the roles of the cavemen, Joe and Mac. This time, a caveman named Gork has stolen the crown belonging to the Chief of Kali Village, and it's up to you to retrieve it by using the 7 Rainbow Stones you will collect on your journey.
Along the way, you will fight dinosaurs, cavemen, and other prehistoric enemies as your travel through the jungle, or through the ice and snow, or even through a volcanic wasteland. Along the way, you can pick up upgrades for your club, or pick up projectiles from eating certain health-recovery items. In some levels, you'll ride in a stone cart, trying to hope over gaps and avoid enemies as you try to reach the end.
The sequel to the first Joe & Mac adds several new features to the predecessor's formula. You can now collect coins in the levels to purchase items from Tiki Village, such as meat to recover your health, or even remodel your hut back at your home village. The game also uses a password system to track your progress. The game also shifts to an overhead map so you can wander to whichever level you wish, and return to completed levels to earn more money or power-ups.

The SNES port of Prince of Persia 2 is generally regarded as a bad port of a very hard platforming puzzle game.
