Generations Lost is an action-platformer developed for the Sega Genesis by Pacific Softscape and released by Time Warner Interactive in 1994. The player takes on the role of a young adventurous man named Monobe who is searching for the past of his people. He is equipped with an arm-mounted device called an "e-rad" and what is believed to be magic armor. These devices allow Monobe to project energy bolts and create energy ropes to swing on, in addition to basic fighting skills, running, jumping, and rolling. The player must use his skills and his devices to traverse the many strange lands of the game.
In this run, maTO runs, jumps, rolls, and swings his way throughout the world to find the mysterious past of his people.

Set after the events of the first movie, Sega's Ghostbusters follows the further adventures of Peter, Ray, and Egon, as the make their way through six cases in an attempt to piece together a mysterious stone tablet.
Completely different than the Activision title of the same name, the Genesis Ghostbusters is a side-scrolling platformer that has the boys in gray running through houses, apartments, a burning house and a high-rise for starters as they battle a myriad of ghosts with their proton blasters. When the Ghostbusters face off against a boss ghost, they have the ability to trap them the traditional way.
Peter, Ray, and Egon each have different abilities, and can purchase weapon and life upgrades from shops throughout the levels. Other familiar faces make an appearance, as Slimer offers power-ups, and the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man returns to settle the score from the movie.

Ghouls 'n Ghosts is a sequel to Ghosts 'n Goblins on the NES. On a quest to recapture stolen souls from Lucifer (Loki in this game), the player advances through a series of levels filled with demonic and undead creatures.
Usually, one would have to finish the game twice in order for it to end properly. Instead of doing so, the author of this movie uses a password to start off on the 2nd playthrough. Despite the game displaying "Practice" on the screen, this movie is indeed played on hardest difficulty. See the author's comments for a more thorough explanation.
This movie has an Atlas Map encode of Level 1-1, which shows the standard encode overlaid on a zoomed out map.

Gods is a game about someone who wants to become a god and gain immortality. This is a delicate and paradoxical issue, because temporal immortality can be bought at just about every shop in this game, but the hero still dies numerous times.
Another fun aspect is bomb-jumping, which allows both higher jumps and traveling vertically through walls. Almost the whole 2nd half of the game is skipped with this trick! However, it is not verified whether this trick will work on an actual console.
This is the author's latest version, improved by another 132 frames.

Golden Axe is a side-scrolling, beat 'em up, arcade video game released in 1989 by Sega for the System 16-B arcade hardware. It is the first game in the Golden Axe series. The game was ported to the Sega Genesis and Master System consoles, among many other systems.
The game puts players in the shoes of one of three heroes, each with his own reason for trying to overthrow the evil rule of Death-Adder, who - along with his forces of darkness - kidnapped and imprisoned the King and his daughter and stole the legendary Golden Axe.

Gunstar Heroes (1993) is widely considered to be one of the best action games on the Sega Genesis, but, ironically, was commercially unsuccessful due to poor promotion. It features a variety of melee attacks, as well as 4 basic weapons which can be combined in pairs (making a total of 14 combinations) — all densely packed in a swift and explosion-heavy gameplay spanning over seven uniquely designed stages. The author takes special care to showcase all the moves the game is capable of, using every possible attack and having lots of fun playing around in autoscrolling sections.
This movie is a little under 4 and a half minutes faster than the previous one due to more aggressive boss fights and a new movement technique. See the author's comments for more details.
The encodes for this movie are also slightly larger than usual — this is due to an amount of colors and on-screen motion even the best codecs have problems coping with.

And it appears his neighbors have some really weird stuff in their houses, yet Kevin, Harry, and Marv can break into them no matter what security systems they have.

James Bond 007: The Duel is a side-scrolling platformer featuring a storyline that is not based on a James Bond film. A mad professor has commandeered a Caribbean satellite launch center and is planning to use its technology to take over the world, and only 007 can stop him!
The game requires precision in jumping, as Bond will easily die if he falls from high places. Bond's gun also needs to be reloaded on occasion and ammo needs to be conserved. Besides shooting the bad guys in his way, Bond has to find all of the female hostages and set bombs in each base in order to proceed.

Pond has been equipped with a robotic suit--hence the code name "RoboCod"--due to the challenges of the mission. It includes an Inspector Gadget-style stretch device, which he can use to view higher areas or claw onto ceilings and slide across them.
This run saves 3049 frames over the previous one but is longer because it completes the two secret levels. Time savings come from faster boss fights, avoidance of unnecessary bonuses, better HP management, and more optimized movement.

James Pond 3: Operation Starfish (1993) is a platform game starring a super agile fish named James Pond, which has been Amiga's somewhat preemptive answer to Sonic the Hedgehog and Super Mario World games. The physics of this game allow for many interesting acrobatics, like running up the walls and ceilings at breakneck speed. As such, these abilities are abused to the point where, in some parts, Pond bounces around as fast as Sonic does.
Following the game's plot, the evil Dr. Maybe attempts to take over the dairy industry, for which he constructs a giant stronghold on the Moon. Because, as you probably know, its surface is made of cheese. The overworld map spans over 100 levels, but most of them are optional.
This run is the author's third submission of this game. The Cheese Mines and Stiltonium Machines were destroyed in order to reach the good ending. According to the author, the bad ending is about as bad as losing the game, as you get a non-standard game over instead of the ending.

Madou Monogatari (魔導物語) is an RPG best described as 'strange' (and probably more known for its spinoff series, Puyo Puyo). The game has overly cute design and the battles are probably a little different than you would expect. The story revolves around a girl who is on a quest to pass her final exam in a magic school.
A defining moment is one of the cutscenes, where a slime is encountered and suddenly defeated by a strange girl bursting through a brick wall. Then, an equally strange armored knight drops in from the ceiling and the two of them proceed to ignore you and chase each other away.
The fast completion time is achieved mostly by using a random-effect spell, which has a small chance of producing a devastating elephant stomp (yeah, really). Naturally, in a TAS, the "small chance" gets a new meaning.

Mutant League Hockey is the ice hockey spinoff to Mutant League Football. It is a much more violent take on hockey, with players much more likely to die in various situations than in normal hockey. The puck can explode when picked up, land mines and big holes can litter the arena, and even the crowd can throw stuff into the arena that can be used to kill opponents more quickly. And if violence isn't enough, the referee can be bribed to give penalties to the opposing team.
In this run, Aqfaq decides to play the "Regular Game" mode with two players and with the damage output set to maximum and kills all the players in the opposing team in record time, forcing them to forfeit the game.

Mystic Defender is the USA version of the Japanese game 孔雀王2 (Kujaku-Oh Ni, which means "The Peacock King 2"). Except for changing the clothing of the hero and deleting the intro and the names of the stages, everything seems to be the same.
Because Peacock the hero is not a very smart hero, he cannot walk and use his arms at the same time (a common video game character disability). Thus he must jump to be able to use his arms. If he is charging a bigger shot when he lands, he forgets to walk for a few frames, so you cannot charge up a shot too early. It's all very delicate.
This is a 35 second improvement over the previous movie by highness. Much of the improvement comes from an interesting glitch in the last level.

Outrun is a racing game where the player is presented with forks in the road. The left fork leads to an easier stage and the right fork leads to something more challenging. The camera travels along with the car rather than just presenting a birds eye view. Its designer, Yu Suzuki, describes it as a driving game rather than a racing game.
In this run weatherton uses a couple of tricks to speed things up. By quickly switching between high and low gear driving-off road is possible without slowing down. While using this trick the car stays a fixed distance from the road, making impossibly tight turns possible. The position, type and number of cars and the position of obstacles can be manipulated by horizontal position and the frame they load on. Proper timing of the accelerator allows for a turbo start. And revving a few frames before that adds a little bit more.

Rolf, a government agent, is assigned the task of finding out why Mother Brain is malfunctioning, and yet his role in the destiny of Algo is far, far greater than anyone could imagine. Anyone, save one lone Esper. As the genetic construct Nei, the soldier Rudo, and others join him, can he topple the tyranny of Mother Brain and free Algo from an unholy evil?
Rolf and his friends, tired of all the violence they've seen, decide to take a pacifist route to save the Algol system with zero bloodshed. This run improves the author's previous run by 00:13.32 seconds by saving a trip to the armor shop and instead injecting the Carbonsuit (the item that triggers the ending) into inventory at the storage building. Phantasy Star III is often considered to be the black sheep of the series, but is still a unique RPG on its own, featuring 3 generations and multiple paths through the game. However, this run breaks the plot halfway through by glitching past the second generation quickly.
Like in other RPG runs, luck has been manipulated for many things. Although random encounters can't be completely avoided, no damage is ever taken except from bosses, and most of the leveling is done in a final rush.
Read the author's comments for more details on luck manipulation and the path taken through the game.

Phantasy Star IV, released in Japan as Phantasy Star: The End of the Millennium, is a role-playing video game released for the Mega Drive/Genesis in Japan in 1993 and Europe and North America in 1995. It is the fourth and final game in the original Phantasy Star series, concluding the story of the Algol Star System. Phantasy Star IV kept many of the gameplay elements of the previous game, including turn-based battles, overhead exploration, and magic spells. It received mixed reviews upon its release, but has been subject to positive critical retrospectives.
In this movie, Jiseed exploits recently discovered complex glitches such as save warping, spawning a non-existent extra character, macro corruption, and others. Severe memory corruption allows to finish the game in record time by skipping several crucial parts of the plot. The Genesis version of RoboCop 3 is a side-scrolling platform shooter. You get missions (such as rescuing your colleagues who are being kept hostage), which are divided into several smaller levels. The levels usually consist of several platforms, and are heavily populated by enemies who shoot at you. You can gather special repair kits, which will be used to restore your health after you've completed a level. RoboCop 3 is more of a shooter than its predecessors, having more and tougher enemies. Compared to the NES version, there is no zonal system damage; there are different levels, weapons and enemies.

RoboCop versus The Terminator (1993) is based on a comic book that is a typical example of two popular but completely unrelated fiction universes merged into one. Such a process usually results in ruined timeline coherence for either, and this game is no exception.
As a result, we get a pretty wild mishmash of RoboCop's and Terminator's backstories in a silly plot accompanied by equally silly gameplay. This includes seemingly inescapable bullet sprays, leotard-clad baddies, exploding heads, hidden 1-ups conveniently placed in molten lava, and so on. The sheer frustration RoboCop experiences from all this madness can only be vented by banging his head on a rock!
(You wish any of this was a joke, but it's actually all there.)
The Genesis version of this game is notable for the amount of gore and other PG-13 goodies, as well as for the ability to abuse death and other things that make it most suitable for a TAS.
