Ghosts 'n Goblins (1986) (known in Japanese as 魔界村 Makaimura, "Demon World Village") begins with a normal scene: a half-naked knight is on a date in a graveyard with a princess. Suddenly, a demon appears and abducts the princess! The knight quickly suits up and makes rapid progres (sic) through the demon world in an attempt to rescue his royal girlfriend.
This run of the original arcade game completes the first cycle in 6 minutes and 27.17 seconds. We also have a run of the NES port, but the game engines are so different that a comparison between the two times doesn't make any sense. Reaching the end credits requires a second run-through of the game which would be identical to the first run-through; this is omitted in this run.

Ghouls 'n Ghosts is the sequel to the brutally hard Ghosts 'n Goblins, and is brutally hard in its own right. This run is of the original coin-op version, which is most similar to the Genesis one. One of the major differences is less armor from chests.
Creative use of damage and picture perfect boss fights combine with some glitchy looking jumps as xipo takes on Lucifer's many demons. The game is completed twice (which is necessary to get the ending) and along the way we are treated to some fabulous Engrish and more information than necessary about the damsel in distress.

The GBA version of Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts (Japan: Chōmakaimura R) is a port of the infamous SNES game with the same title, featuring a new game mode - the Arrange mode which adds stages based on other entries in the Ghouls series, for instance the original Ghosts 'n Goblins or Ghouls 'n Ghosts, as well as more difficult stages from Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts itself.
Fred plays through the Arrange Mode and defeats Sardius in record time.

Ghouls 'n Ghosts is a sequel to Ghosts 'n Goblins on the NES. On a quest to recapture stolen souls from Lucifer (Loki in this game), the player advances through a series of levels filled with demonic and undead creatures.
Usually, one would have to finish the game twice in order for it to end properly. Instead of doing so, the author of this movie uses a password to start off on the 2nd playthrough. Despite the game displaying "Practice" on the screen, this movie is indeed played on hardest difficulty. See the author's comments for a more thorough explanation.
This movie has an Atlas Map encode of Level 1-1, which shows the standard encode overlaid on a zoomed out map.

A long time ago, before human being appeared, there lived a monster named Firebrand. In this game, Firebrand (the red gargoyle) fights against the evil that has invaded his homeland. Along the way, he becomes more powerful and becomes able to fly longer, jump higher, and shoot more weapons.
Jigwally improves the previous publication by 1 minute and 55.06 seconds, mainly thanks to using death warps, but also thanks to better optimisation.
TASVideos also has movies of this game's prequel for the Game Boy and sequel for the Super NES.

Demon's Crest is the third installment of the Gargoyle's Quest series. The player controls Firebrand, who is scouring the Demon Realm for elemental Crests, which preside over different elements (Fire, Earth, Air, Water, Time, and Heaven). When collected, these crests allow Firebrand to transform his shape at will and gain powerful new abilities and defenses.
Demon's Crest is notorious for some very difficult bosses. In this run, the author abuses boss weaknesses to the extreme by carefully switching Gargoyle forms as necessary. In addition, heavy luck manipulation was used during several encounters to make the otherwise troublesome boss fights look easier than a play through of Barney's Hide and Seek Game.
This is an improvement of 00:17.45 over Brookman's previous movie.

This run completes the game as fast as possible with minimal item collection. For those who want to see all items and levels completed, we also have a 100% run of the game.

Arthur's fiancée is once again kidnapped by demons soon before their marriage. Once more Sir Arthur must brave the forces of the underworld in his skivvies. Watch as Ferret Warlord runs through this infamously hard game in record time!
Normally, to fight the final boss of the game, you must play through the game twice. To make the movie less repetitive, Ferret Warlord uses a code to start at the final bosses of the first playthrough. Furthermore, the player must have a special weapon in order to fight the final boss, and this weapon can only be found when the player has fully upgraded armor. Ferret Warlord obtains this weapon at the end of the first autoscrolling level.

Makaimura for WonderSwan is the 4th game in the Ghosts 'n Goblins franchise. Developed by Capcom and published by Namco on the short-lived WonderSwan console, Namco's attempt at a handheld video game console.
The game stars Sir Arthur, trying to save Princess Prin-Prin. It is just about what you'd expect for a Ghosts 'n Goblins game. You fight a bunch of enemies by throwing projectiles, you are committed to horizontal jumps, and of course the difficulty is very high.
That doesn't stop enderpal7, who breezes through the two loops of this game in record time.

Ghosts 'n Goblins is a platforming game that was made infamous by its notoriously hard NES version. It has also received ports to various home computers from the PC-88 to the IBM PC to the ZX Spectrum. All vary in quality in comparison to the original arcade version, with each one being limited by the hardware they were ported to.
In this run, enderpal7 chooses to play the ZX Spectrum version and silently beats it in record time.
