Axiom Verge, released in 2015, is a 2D Metroidvania centered around the protagonist Trace, a scientist who finds himself on the world of Sudra after an experiment gone wrong, separated from Earth by a deadly void called the Breach. When Trace arrives on Sudra he finds its civilization collapsed due to the release of a deadly pathogen in the act of biological warfare. With the help of the Rusalki — giant war machines that guard this world — Trace has to uncover the truth behind the fall of Sudra, confront the perpetrator behind it, and return back to his home world across the Breach.
Axiom Verge takes heavy inspiration from early Metroid games and some other platformers of the era and employs a number of unconventional storytelling and gameplay design decisions, and is all-around well-polished. If you enjoy action platformers or exploration-driven games with a solid sci-fi plot, playing through the game before watching the TAS is highly recommended so that the latter 1/4 of it (and especially the 4th boss, Vision) become easier to comprehend.
keylie improves the previous TAS by almost 3 minutes thanks to getting the grappling hook, better optimisation, and skipping one of the bosses. He completes the game's speedrun mode (which shows an in-game timer and disables all cutscenes) in 25:09.24 by the in-game timer, picking up 15% of items.
Boss times: 02:26.52 (Xedur), 05:39.08 (Telal), 11:02.19 (Uruku), 18:20.54 (Vision), 20:23.42 (Ukhu).

Baba Is You is a puzzle game. Baba moves tiles around his world that define how the world works. The text "Baba Is You" means you are controlling Baba. If that becomes "Wall Is You", suddenly you are controlling all of the walls.
lexikiq finishes the game in record time.

Due to how fast the levels are solved, the second set of encodes show them slowed down to 16.7% of the normal speed, with everything else at normal speed.
If you're interested in playing it, though, we strongly recommend you play it first before watching the TAS, as it evidently spoils the solutions to the puzzles.

Braid is a famous indie platform game with some unique puzzlework. It was originally released on Xbox Live Arcade before being ported to other platforms. A major feature of the game is the player's unlimited ability to reverse time and "rewind" actions, even after dying. The game itself was intended to be an artful deconstruction of traditional video game concepts.
keylie improves his previous TAS by 1 minute 11.52 seconds in in-game time, thanks to better optimisation. Please read the author's comments for more details.

Mari0 is a PC game created by stabyourself.net in 2012 that combines the classic Super Mario Bros. with the puzzle-platformer Portal by giving Mario a portal gun. The game launched with 2 "mappacks", with the one most people played being the Super Mario Bros. mappack containing the original set of levels. This TAS instead showcases the other mappack which features 18 Portal-inspired puzzles spread across 9 different levels.
lexikiq and Masterjun improve the previous publication by 10.43 seconds, mainly thanks to using four players to plow through the levels and abusing tricks that are only possible in multiplayer.
There's an alternate YouTube encode provided by the authors that shows this TAS as it was shown at AGDQ2019 (featuring four TASBots instead of four Marios as well as a game timer).

TowerFall Ascension is an updated release of the arrow-based single-screen arena fighting game TowerFall, which was originally released on the failed Ouya console. It builds upon the original game with a new cooperative quest mode for one or two players. Played in a normal or a hardcore difficulty mode, it offers different levels selected from a large map where different types of enemies need to be killed in multiple rounds to progress. The game also features trials, where a player has to shoot down all targets as fast as possible.
keylie completes all 48 trials, including the ones featured in the Dark World expansion, in a record in-game time of 1 minute and 13.842 seconds.
NOTE: There is no audio during the splash screen (the "Matt Makes Games" screen), the rest of the game does have audio. The movie file is also at 1000 FPS (meaning libTAS tells the game that it runs on a virtual 1000 Hz monitor), while the primary encodes are at 60 FPS, as encodes at 1000 FPS cannot be reliably played back. The secondary encodes are played at 24% speed (240 FPS), which preserves all of the frames (except for the YouTube encode).

Undertale is an RPG video game created by American indie developer Toby Fox in 2015.
The player controls a child who has fallen into the Underground: a large, secluded region under the surface of the Earth, separated by a magic barrier. The player meets various monsters during the journey back to the surface. Some monsters might engage the player in a fight. The combat system involves the player navigating through mini-bullet hell attacks by the opponent. They can opt to pacify or subdue monsters in order to spare them instead of killing them. These choices affect the game, with the dialogue, characters, and story changing based on outcomes.
There are 3 main endings: Neutral, True Pacifist, and Genocide. This movie attempts to reach the True Pacifist ending in the shortest amount of time possible. This route showcases almost all of what Undertale has to offer as a speed-game.

There are 3 main endings: Neutral, True Pacifist, and Genocide. This TAS achieves the Genocide ending, which is known for being the most RNG-intensive category in the game due to the heavy emphasis on combat; the player must kill a specific amount of enemies in each area in order to not lock themselves out of this ending.

Instead of jumping, the player is able to control the direction of gravity, allowing Captain Viridian to flip between the floors and ceilings of the environment. Völgarr the Viking is a video game released by Crazy Viking Studios in 2013, inspired by old arcade games like Ghosts 'n Goblins or Rastan. Players take the role of the titular Völgarr, risen from the dead and commanded by Odin to find and slay the greedy dragon Fáfnir. The game has minimal presentation and story, having no formal title screen or opening menu and no cutscenes or dialogue. It has a high level of challenge and a deliberate pacing, expecting the player to proceed with caution and learn the layouts of each level, playing each through multiple times until they are mastered. It also encourages speedrunning, including a speed runner HUD option, as the game uses very few randomized elements and has many options for increasing the speed a player can get through a level.
There are two paths available after beating Stage 1, namely the Crystal path, where difficulty gradually rises, eventually reaching its peak in the Tower, and where the player has infinite retries, and the Valkyrie path, where the player has a limited amount of retries (if one loses all retries on this path, the player is going to play the Crystal path variant of the same level) and generally much harder than the Crystal path. Doing a full Valkyrie path run is necessary to obtain the best ending, as it unlocks the true final stage as well as the true last boss.
keylie slices and dices through the Valkyrie path and obtains the best ending in record time.
