Astyanax is a little clumsy game.
For one, the main character is twice as big as he looks, which makes him hit everywhere unless you play carefully. The controls are also very bad.
But these factors sum up to that it's a difficult game to play, and that's what makes this movie interesting - at least for those who have played this game.

Astyanax (1990) is the story of a studly 16-year-old boy named Astyanax who is summoned to the world of Remlia in order to save the enchantress Princess Rosebud from the evil wizard Blackhorn, who wants to rule the world.

This is the revised story of Simon Belmont's horrible weekend without sleep.
The timeunit count for this movie is 3:06:23, which is 9 "hours" better than the previous version. The actual movie was improved by 3 minutes and 52 seconds, mostly due to a cool falling-through-floor glitch which is insanely difficult to perform.
There are several items that are required for the completion of the game, and you can't buy them without killing a certain amount of monsters, thus this movie has some running back and forth, collecting hearts. There's also the factor that shops are only open at daytime and monsters are twice as much evil at nighttime...

Castlevania II: Simon's Quest is the story of Simon Belmont's horrible weekend without sleep. Two years after defeating Dracula, Simon is physically weakened by Dracula's curse. Simon must gather Dracula's remains and incinerate them at the ruins of Castlevania in order to end the curse.
The timeunit count for this movie is 03:01:17, which is 4 "hours" better than the previous version, and almost 15 "hours" better than the first released version. The actual movie is now improved by 96 seconds, because of better implementation and a new warp.

Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers 2 is quite an improvement over the original Chip 'n Dale in terms of graphics and a whole lot of other things. Thankfully, the original game's solid controls haven't been changed. The plot of this game is that Fat Cat has stolen the Pharaoh's Urn and wants to use its power (for evil purposes, of course).
This new 2-player movie is a huge improvement over the previous movie. Walker_Boh manages to improve his old movie by over 3 minutes. Most of that time comes from clever death abuse. Watch the movie in order to find out why it's 'clever.'

Selected comments from the author:
This time it's the very old game Circus Charlie. I made it mostly because I played this game as a child and it is a great memory for me ;) Hmm, the gameplay is comparably to 'Kung Fu', 'Balloon Fight' or 'Popeye'. Very old and easy and it goes on forever. However it just loops after stage 5 so I stopped my fmv there.

Hmm, I don't know if you have played this game but as I said it's very simple. Basically you can just jump and move forward and try to get the timing right. It's harder than it looks ;P You are a horrible little clown avoiding stuffs in a circus.

It's also played on "easy" and if you want there are some pics at it here.

And finally, if you even bother on reviewing it and decides it wouldn't be a "time attack game" im not gonna be dissapointed. I mostly did it cus it's fun for me. Maybe some others shares my opinion but I think this is more rare than Trojan. Anyways I thought it could be worth a try. It's still a NES game and it's completed as fast as possible. Do whatever you want with this one.

This game is something as unusual as a boat game where you race to the finish, rescue swimmers from being abducted, dispose of bombs, kill big-ass sea monsters and shoot targets.
This movie aims for fastest time but makes some deviances from that goal to get more points: for example it saves all the swimmers where just saving one would have been slightly faster.

The game is a basic platformer but thanks to a certain weapon this movie never gets boring. The arrow gun allows the player to climb up walls and use creative shortcuts to optimize all movements so that the absolute shortest route can be taken. In case you are wondering why the player keeps on jumping so much, it is because landing and not jumping again immediately makes the player stop for a short period of time. With constant jumping these landings can be avoided.

You play as this family who must retrieve four crowns in order to obtain the dragon slayer (a sword) and then kill that evil dragon. Each family member has it's own area in this huge game and they can use different items.
Because of this vastness, the order in which each family member is used is crucial, to prevent any unnecessary backtracking. This run of the game involves no backtracking, lots of shortcuts, and a whole lot of speed scrolls with the help of a little luck manipulation.

This movie completes the PAL Rygar with only one item: the grappling hook.
And what an awesome movie it is: it demonstrates as many glitches of the game as possible. Some of the glitches save time radically, some save a little of time, and some don't save time at all but just look cool.
It uses death as a shortcut, but in contrary to the usual, this death does not put Rygar backwards in the game, but instead warps him forward by a couple of levels.
A somewhat similar trick can be done in Mega Man 2, but in Rygar, it places him truly in the next level instead of just virtually.
We recommend reading the author's comments.
Note: Famtasia plays PAL games at NTSC speed, that is 16.7% too fast. Thus the encodes are significantly faster than the movie should actually be. The real length is 08:26, which is 2:38 faster than the previous version by Bisqwit.

The only annoyance is that you have to wait for bombs to explode so you can open doors and obtain keys and goonies. Also it´s kinda random but I think I have the fastest route for every stage. Also I managed to manipulate the last stage so the girl was behind the very first door instead of the last. This saved me 13 seconds.
This was the first and last Goonies submission that even resembled something normal. All the successors just walked through the ending doors without bothering to collect keys.

Selected comments from the author:
This time I made a time attack @ Goonies 2. I think this is the best route and the fastest possible to play through this complex but yet fun game. I think you have played this so comments about the gameplay are unnecessary. I take hits because it saves time, and I jump through enemies because else I would be pushed backwards. I got 1 hit that wasn´t intentional pretty early in the game but I didn´t noticed it until the .fmv was done so it is there. Doesn´t affect the run but it might look a little bad. Anyways, im not doing this game again just because of that.

Another thing I managed to figure out was the enemy-dropping-rate. Every third enemy you kill in 1 "screen" gives you an item, and that is time based I think.

I also had several problems with the recording cus a penguin changed pattern (!) AFTER the actuall play.

Also, I had to do several re-records after the .fmv-file was done cus it seemed to somehow forget my key-presses. Strange and most annoying but now it´s finished. Finally! So, please enjoy this one too ;)

Kage no Densetsu (影の伝説).
This is really the umpteenth version of the TAS. Fast completion of this game relies heavily on random factors, and thus it has been a lot of work to get the time down from 8 minutes to the 6 minutes we see here.
This movie rescues the o-hime-sama four times, at all the four seasons of year, in just 6:05. Lots of ninja-slaughter follows.
The sound emulation in Famtasia doesn't appear to be perfect in this game, but it's the best I've heard.

This is an improved version of the timeattack at this storybook game which is similar to Shadowgate.
Selected comments by author:
This is an improved version of my Uninvited time attack. Thanks to Mr. R. Kelly who pointed out some mistakes I did (thanks) and also because of faster menu controls (hey! this game is a menu!!) AND more precise movements with the cursor. So here it is! Almost 1 minute faster due to corrected mistakes AND! minor optimizations! ;)

This is a new improved version of the timeattack at this storybook game which is similar to Shadowgate and Deja Vu. In it, you wake up in a crashed car just outside a strange mansion, desperate to explore the ghost-ridden building to find and rescue your missing sister.
While watching this video, you will be amazed at the speed at which the author manipulates the menus.

Although it may not seem like it, this game is somewhat similar to Mega Man in idea.
Selected comments from author:
You are an indian boy who is gonna collect 6 totems (I think). These are very much like Mega Mans weapons because each boss gives you a different weapon for different usage.
It´s a fastpaced and fun game. The controls are a bit slippery if you play it on normal speed and only that makes this movie cool.
I also manipulated luck on the few enemies I kill and those of which I could actually grab the items from without losing speed.»»

This is an improved version - 32 seconds faster than previously.
In this game you're an armor-clad knight with a big sword. You collect gems, kill evil beasts and rescue several "distressed damsels".
Walker Boh completes the game shorter than anyone imagined, and discovered a few nice tricks / glitches.
Long live game physics where a little bird can toss heavy metal knights by several meters!
This movie takes advantage of a glitch that allows to re-enter the first map and substitute the last few levels with the first levels. There is also a movie that does not use this trick. It's slightly longer.

Most of the improvement comes from heavy abuse of luck to get blue and pink potions when they are most useful.

Ps: Do you want to see more adventures of the iron-clad hero of this game, Kuros?
Read the Knights of the Old Coding online comic. It's hilarious.

This is a full completion of Wizards & Warriors.
It differs from the other movie in that this one plays all levels once instead of using a glitch that leads back to the first level.
Technically, this movie is a manifestation of luck abuse.
The playing of the first 4 levels are identical in both movies.

In this game you are supposed to hunt down an evil crime syndicate (so what else is new?) by freeing kids from blocks of ice, and capturing the red guys to get clues. Unfortunately the ninja didn't have time for that, he just walks past all baddies and kills the bosses.
This syndicate turns out to be selling drugs, but the Black Manta sets them straight: "Drugs kill you think you're cool but you're not." Yeah!
We recommend reading the author's comments of this movie.
This game has a crazy main music theme.

This game involves slaying zombies and rescuing people, displayed from an overhead perspective. It's reminiscent of Fester's Quest but is much more fun.
Walker Boh controls both characters simultaneously, making this hard game even harder. Naturally, luck and glitches are abused in this run.
We recommend reading the author's comments; he wrote quite a detailed article of this movie.
