Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over is a licensed game that is based on the Robert Rodriguez move of the same name. As with many licensed games at the time, especially for handhelds like the Game Boy Advance, it is a loose adaptation, with additions made that don't appear to derive from the movie. What can be gleamed here is that it shares the same virtual reality setting and same robot enemies and power armor and mecha gadgets.
The8bitbeast in this run decides to bunny hop their way across the game in order to beat it in record time.

Note: The lack of sound is intentional as disabling it saves time by reducing lag frames.

The Legend of Galahad is a side-scrolling adventure/platformer for the Sega Genesis. The game is a port of Leander for the Amiga, which was the first game developed by Traveller's Tales. Galahad must explore 21 levels in 3 different worlds in search of a hidden key in each level to progress, collecting coins to buy rune bombs, armor, and sword upgrades along the way.
The8bitbeast rushes through this game quickly, especially once the Tempest Blade upgrade is obtained. It is carefully managed to provide well-timed speedups in the player's movement, and it also leads to some zipping glitches. For more details, see the run's comments.

The Sonic games for the Sega Master System and the Game Gear are much less well known than their Genesis/Mega Drive counterparts and have a reputation for being quite challenging, especially in handheld form. You'd never know this from the speed Sonic blazes through the game here.
Unlike later 8-bit Sonic games, there are significant differences in levels between the SMS version and the Game Gear version; here the latter is used primarily for faster boss fights.
This run improves the predecessor movie by 00:02.30 real-time seconds, and by 01:22.41 minutes of total in-level time. What makes the real-time difference so small is the larger time bonuses. To compensate for that, the author has made an encode that cuts out the bonus screen and the level title cards.

This is the most famous game in the Alex Kidd series, due in no small part to frequently being bundled with the Master System (and being built in to some versions of the console).
In this game, Alex Kidd discovers he is the prince of Radaxian, and his father, the king, has been kidnapped, allowing the tyrant Janken to claim power. The game details Alex's efforts to dethrone Janken (surprisingly, his father is not tracked down until a later game in the series).
Few other games allow mini-bosses to be defeated by playing rock-paper-scissors. In fact, the name "Janken" is a reference to rock-paper-scissors.
This is an improvement of 02:41.47 over the previous run due to the use of new glitches, and other optimizations.

This is the final game of the Alex Kidd series, once Sega's flagship series. As the title suggests, this is a bit of a departure from the other games in the series and borrows concepts heavily from the Shinobi games.
Here, Alex Kidd's girlfriend has been kidnapped and he needs to go rescue her. In addition to his bizarre ability to use poles and ropes to turn into a fireball, he also apparently has the ability to use ladders to warp through solid walls.

An interesting feature of this game is that the player can choose between the two heroes for each level, and their different control styles mean that most levels can be completed in a variety of different ways.

Fantasy Zone is a shoot 'em up game that was initially developed by Sega as an arcade game and is the first game in the Fantasy Zone series. It later received ports for home systems such as the NES, Sega Master System, and PC Engine. The game is best known for its cute aesthetic that it popularized for shoot 'em ups, and for popularizing the boss rush concept, where multiple bosses are fought in succession without breaks.
In this run, The8bitbeast exploits a bug in the Sega Master System version where the demos that play when you start the game can be manipulated so that they actually beat the levels they're showing off, which somehow counts as progress for the player. Land of Illusion Starring Micky Mouse is a sequel to the classic game, Castle of Illusion. Though not as famous as its predecessor, this game has many improvements and new mechanics from the series. Levels are selected from an overhead map and can be replayed. Mickey can gain several abilities from levels which are necessary to proceed, such as the ability to shrink himself. Many stages are finished by collecting a star to open the exit door, and there are plenty of puzzles and platforming tricks to keep things entertaining.
The story of the game involves Mickey Mouse himself suddenly finding himself in a gloomy village after falling sleeping while reading his book of fairy tales. The village had its special crystal stolen by an evil phantom, turning the village from one of happiness into one of misery. Mickey must now go off and defeat the Phantom and get the crystal back in order to restore peace and happiness back to this special world.
The8bitbeast improves on his previous run by around 58 seconds (accounting for the boot up screen absent from the previous run) thanks to the usage of a new shortcut and a better understanding of the game's mechanics, allowing for more rigorous optimization. You can read the author's notes for more details.

Master of Darkness, known in Japan as In the Wake of Vampire (イン ザ ウエイク オブ ヴァンパイア), is an action platformer that plays very similarly to the Castlevania series of games on the NES. It also has a similar plot, but with one major difference: instead of playing as a muscular barbarian or a noble warrior, you play as a more normal psychologist that has set out to defeat Dracula all by himself, suspecting him to be behind the murders in London that were attibuted to Jack the Ripper. However, there appears to be a supernatural conspiracy that involves more than just Dracula himself.
For this run, The8bitbeast skips considerable chunks of the game by exploiting a glitch where dying and landing on a health potion tricks the game into thinking the level is complete. In the process, he beats the current TAS that doesn't utilize this glitch by nearly six minutes.
