Quattro Adventure is a cart of 4 games released by Camerica in 1991. One of these 4 games is the platformer Super Robin Hood which is the subject of the current run. The game is unique in its use of hidden 'keys' that open various secret passages allowing the player access to faster routes. Combine this with a developer intended warp and major collision detection glitch and you get the current run of the game in under 5 minutes.

Dizzy, the intelligent egg-like creature, is back in this second game of the famous series from the 1980s. He needs to gather items that he can trade for boat parts to escape from some islands. For the best ending, he also needs to find 30 coins, some of which are hidden.
This game has a reputation of high difficulty because of its physics and control scheme, but goofydylan8 makes it look like a relaxing platformer through masterful route planning and item management.
We also have a run of Dizzy the Adventurer.

R.C. Pro-Am is a racing video game developed by Rare. It was released for the NES by Nintendo for North America in March 1988, and then in Europe on April 15 of the same year. Presented in an overhead isometric perspective, a single player races a radio-controlled car around a series of tracks. The objective of each track is to qualify for the next race by placing in the top three racers. Players collect items to improve performance, and they must avoid a variety of hazards such as rain puddles and oil slicks. It is an example of a racing game which features vehicular combat, in which racers can use missiles and bombs to temporarily disable opposing vehicles.
In this run, FatRatKnight gets the 1st place, as well as the deserved gold trophy, on each of the 48 tracks he completes.

R.C. Pro-Am II is the sequel to R.C. Pro-Am by Rare. The biggest addition to the game is multiplayer, allowing up to four players to race against each other with the use of the NES Four Score accessory. Another difference is that instead of power-ups and weapons you can pick up on the track, you pick up money that can be used to purchase power-ups at a store in-between races. However, you can still collect rare letters that can spell out a word that can give you power-ups.
FatRatKnight and eien86 play the single player mode and complete all the tracks in first place, setting record times with the help of a brute-force bot to both find the fastest path and to manipulate the chance of getting the Letters so that power-ups can be collected as soon as possible. Rally Bike is an arcade racing game that was originally released 1988. It later received ports to the NES and the Sharp X68000 in 1990. In the game, you race against multiple vehicles across cities, deserts, and ocean highways to the finish line. Unlike most racing games, you have a limited fuel supply. Crash at any moment and you lose a substantial amount of fuel. Run out of fuel and you lose the game.
In this run, adelikat drives at the maximum speed of 180 mph to beat a single loop of the game at record time, avoiding all obstacles except doing the bonus stage. River City Ransom is a goofy game that deserves a goofy TAS. This movie showcases cool tricks and some glitches that don't necessarily result in the fastest completion. We also have a movie which aims for speed.
Selected Quote from the authors:
We looked at previous submissions and demonstrations of this game and tried to include the most entertaining parts of what was available, and add in a few ideas of our own along the way. Hopefully you'll get a kick out of it.

In River City Ransom, Alex and Ryan face off against gangs of students and evil bosses to win their town back and rescue their girlfriends. Several bosses need to be found and beaten before you can enter River City High and beat up the final bad guys (including an obvious imitation of the Double Dragon heroes). The gameplay also has elements of an RPG, where you can level up your character with shop purchases, but none of that is done here.
A glitch that is abused often in this run, pressing Left and Right at the same time, causes the player character to do all sorts of crazy things and usually lose all of his power. This is done to reduce lag during running segments and abuse collision detection.
This run obsoletes the previous one by nearly a minute due to much more optimization of boss fights and some new tricks. Weapons are also used more, so expect to see some chains and trash cans!

This is a run that only uses Ryan, who is normally Player 2. This has some very important differences compared to the two-player speedrun. One cutscene is significantly shorter when playing only as Ryan. There is less lag, though there are also fewer glitches and acrobatics. More boss fights, especially at the end, use the boss's superior strength against him, taking advantage of an exploit with kicking trash cans. For more details, see the run's submission comments.

Although the route in this movie is almost exactly the same, time was saved mostly by accumulating the tone points (for Rygar's strength) a lot faster. There were other improvements as well. We recommend reading the author's comments for more details.

This movie is different from the other Rygar movie in that it plays all levels and doesn't use any glitch to warp from a boss battle to another.
Aside from that limitation, this movie makes full use of all the bugs and glitches in the game which can be used to speed up the run. If you are wondering what really is going on in this movie, see the Rygar Tricks page for some info about the tricks used.
This is a 4 minutes and 43.38 seconds improvement to the previous movie.

Rygar is an action game involving a hero with a shield as a weapon. Normally, the hero must obtain items, such as a grappling hook, to be able to explore the world of Garloz, and he must also defeat five bosses to gain access to the final area. However, these requirements can be circumvented with glitches. Indeed, this run kills no bosses except the final boss and does very little leveling.
In contrast to the any% run and the warpless run, which use the European version of Rygar, this movie uses the American version. The two ROM versions have some different glitches. For more details about the ROM choice, as well as some background explaining what in the world is going on here, see the movie comments as well as our Rygar tricks page.

Saint Seiya: Ougon Densetsu (聖闘士星矢 黄金伝説), known in France as Les Chevaliers du Zodiaque: La Légende d'Or is an RPG based on the popular shounen anime series Saint Seiya. This title covers the Galactic wars, Silver saints as well as the Sanctuary sagas (although at the point the game was released, this particular saga was not published yet, and as such, the developers had to improvise a possible ending of it), and is the first official Saint Seiya video game that was ever released.
eien86 and TaoTao exploit a glitch in the character select screen, allowing them to skip 4 boss fights and reach the end of the Sanctuary arc in record time. Please read the authors' comments for more details.

Saint Seiya: Ougon Densetsu Kanketsu Hen (聖闘士星矢 黄金伝説 完結編, lit. Saint Seiya: Golden Legend - Final Chapter) is a video game adaptation of the shounen manga series Saint Seiya for the Famicom, of which the prequel (Saint Seiya: Ougon Densetsu) saw an official French release on the NES titled Les Chevaliers du Zodiaque: La Légende d'Or. It is a RPG/beat 'em up hybrid that adapts the Twelve Temples arc from the manga, where the Bronze Saints have to save Saori Kido from a fatal injury by finding the Pope, the only one that can heal her. To do this, the Bronze Saints must cross the Twelve Temples of the Zodiac, each one guarded by a Gold Saint. The sections where the player goes to the temple is shown as a side-scrolling beat 'em up and the fights with the Gold Saints are played like a turn-based RPG.
eien86 in this run breezes through all the Gold Saints, discovers the mystery behind the Pope, and saves Saori in record time.

Warning: This game contains scenes with flashing lights that are not suitable to those with photosensitivity issues.

Spiritual Warfare (1992) is an unlicensed NES game created by Wisdom Tree. The company specializes in the niche market of Christian-themed video games. The gameplay in Spiritual Warfare is very similar to The Legend of Zelda (1986). The game's story is taken directly from the Bible (Ephesians 6:12-18):
12.) For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13.) Therefore, take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day and, having done all, to stand.
14.) Stand therefore, having your loins girded about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness,
15.) and your feet shod with the preparation of the Gospel of peace.
16.) Above all, take the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17.) And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God,
18.) praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.
The Christian concept of spiritual warfare is a metaphor for fully accepting whatever Christ teaches. The ongoing spiritual war against Satan requires the whole armor of God, meaning that a faithful Christian should always obey the Lord's authority in order to defeat evil.
The author of the TAS utterly ignores the philosophy of obtaining the whole armor of God in order to defeat Satan. The power of prayer, rather than the Helmet of Salvation, is enough to protect the hero's physical body from dynamite explosions.
