Hangman is a simple guessing game that is usually done on pencil and paper. With a set number of blank spaces representing a word or phrase, you guess which letter appears in that word or phrase. Guess right and the letter appears in one or more of the blank spaces. Guess wrong and a stick figure body part is added to a noose. The game ends when either all spaces are filled or the stick figure is complete.
In this run, yep2yel, ShesChardcore, and negative_seven work together to complete a single game of Hangman on the Atari 2600 as fast as possible.

Street Fighter Zero 3 (ストリートファイターZERO3), better known as Alpha 3, was released in 1998.

Street Fighter II: The World Warrior is the sequel to Street Fighter and the second game in Capcom's ever popular fighting game series Street Fighter. Boasting an expanded roster and a bigger selection of moves, this game codified many elements that define the fighting game genre and introduced the concept of combos by accident. It was hugely popular at the time of its release and received many updated re-releases, adding in more characters, stages, and gameplay mechanics such as super moves.
Dark Noob and SDR decide to break the game in half and showcase many glitches and AI tripups, the results looking more like something out of the Rainbow Edition. For a list and descriptions of all the glitches and moves used in this run, you can read the authors' notes.

The King of Fighters '96 (KOF '96) is a fighting game released by SNK for the Neo Geo arcade and home consoles in 1996. It is the third game of the series, following The King of Fighters '95. Like its predecessor, the game was ported to the Neo-Geo CD, as well as the PlayStation and Sega Saturn. The game made a few changes to gameplay such as new techniques, various changes of some teams, with a few of them introducing new characters.
Dark Noob shows off a plethora of glitches and infinite combos in this playaround, which are explained in more detail in the author's submission comments.
Note: Partway through the encode (after winning the first match against the CPU), the sound effects when selecting the characters/teams is higher pitched.
Flashing lights warning: There are instances of pretty heavy flashing when some combos are performed and when an opponent is KO'd, which may cause epileptic seizures in some cases.

It turns out that Jaffar is alive and back for vengeance. Banished from the palace, the unfortunate Prince must travel to faraway lands and find a way to defeat the villain.

Brain Age (also known as Dr. Kawashima's Brain Training) is a puzzle game designed on the premise of exercising your brain. In this run, for example, the idea is to solve a series of simple mathematical puzzles.
And yet, the answers given... are not exactly what you'd expect.
The same author of the previous run brings you a set of 51 new ... answers, with extra time taken to provide you, the viewer, with the greatest possible attention to detail. Additionally, the increased detail provides a higher level of difficulty, to prevent the number recognition from checking the answer before the image is complete.
If you liked how this movie abuses a drawing recognition system, also see the trouble that TAS tools bring to a text recognition system.

Dawn of Sorrow (2005), the first installment of Castlevania on Nintendo DS, is a direct sequel to GBA hit Aria of Sorrow. Everyone is trying to kill our hero Soma Cruz, since in the previous game he absorbed all of Dracula's attributes. Leave it to weird cults to try and bring about the end of the world by unleashing this power.
The game is so fully broken at this point that there really is no plot in this run. Or final boss. Or much of anything at all. Using movement optimizations and a new zip, this movie completes the game 00:19.34 seconds faster than its predecessor. More details about the glitches can be found in the author's comments.

To play back the DSM file, make sure that "Enable Advanced Bus-Level Timing" and "Use dynamic recomplier" are unchecked in the "Emulation settings".

The second Castlevania title released on Nintendo DS after Dawn of Sorrow, this game is a direct sequel to Bloodlines on Sega Genesis. Dracula rises from the dead yet again (cue groan), and it's up to Jonathan Morris, helped out by Charlotte Aulin, a powerful mage student, to defeat him.
This run is an improvement of 14.06 seconds over the previous run by the same author and uses many of the same glitches. Yet another slightly different route selection as well as better optimisation sends Dracula back to his coffin even faster.

Beating Dracula into a pile of dust in under five minutes wasn't enough for our heroes, so this time they wreck his entire castle and surrounding areas before killing him. One Chance is a storybook-style Flash game by Awkward Silence Games released in December of 2010 to critical acclaim. The premise starts with a cure for cancer being found and released into the Earth's atmosphere in a gaseous form. However, this cure turns out to not only kill cancer cells, but any living cell it makes contact with. Dr. John Pilgrim, the player protagonist, now has 6 days to create an antidote before literally all life on the planet perishes. One unique characteristic of this game is that it can only be played once, and cannot be replayed again if it's completed in any way.
In this run, Spikestuff aims to get every possible ending in the game as fast as possible with the use of a modified Flash file that allows for replaying the title. The same thing can be done on the original Flash Player by disabling the Local Storage setting, but the version of Ruffle used for this run does not have that feature.

Caution: Some sequences in this game may be disturbing and triggering to some people. Viewer discretion is highly advised.

Besides adding over 90 additional stages to the original 4 stages, this release also introduces many new game-play mechanics which both help and hinder Mario from reaching his goal. Some of these new elements are patterned off concepts from other Mario games including Donkey Kong Jr., SMB, SMB 2 (USA), and SMB 3.

Final Fantasy Adventure is the first game of the Seiken Densetsu (聖剣伝説) series, but it does contain some classic Final Fantasy elements. The series is probably best known for the SNES game Secret of Mana. This game was later remade on the Game Boy Advance as Sword of Mana. Its gameplay resembles that of a The Legend of Zelda game, but with level building.
In this run, Touch-me utilizes a glitch to warp across the map, cutting down the completion time by a lot compared to the warpless run. He also improves the previous run in this category by 51:22.57 minutes thanks to a big new warp glitch that allows him to reach the top of the Tower of Gemma early.

Pokémon: Blue and Red Version are part of the first generation of the Pokémon franchise. They were developed by Game Freak and published by Nintendo in North America in 1998. They feature a 10-year old boy who ventures around the Kanto region and aim to become the Pokémon champion. During his journey, he encounters various monsters, which he can catch to use for battles, or just to fill up his Pokédex.
In this run, MrWint fills the Pokédex without resorting to any glitches and obtains the diploma in both games in less than four hours. Note that Mew isn't caught here; this is because it can only be obtained through either an event or glitches.

The official encodes feature commentary by the author as soft subtitles. In addition, the downloadable encodes feature additional audio tracks: The first (default) track features audio from both games, while the second and third tracks feature audio from Blue and Red, respectively.
There's also an alternate encode provided by the author which features a detailed overlay.

Tatanga is back after being beaten in the regular-mode run of this game, and he kidnapped Princess Daisy again. Daisy is not a pilot, so she is unable to escape from her prison in the sky, despite there being a freely accessible aircraft in the vicinity.
Mario must travel through the four Kingdoms of Birabuto, Muda, Easton, and Chai once again to rescue Daisy. Although this time around, they're packed with much more enemies than before.
This run has much more action than the regular mode of Super Mario Land, due to the increased amount of enemies, yet it is only slightly slower. If you liked TASs of Super Mario Land before now, wait until you see this.

Note: This movie begins from a save state from the end of regular mode in order to access hard mode. There is no other way to access it outside of a hack. We normally do not accept movies which begin from a save state.

In this movie, Juste Belmont zips through walls, under floors, and over zombies with the very important task of rearranging furniture. (He also defeats Dracula and rescues his best friends along the way, but that's not very important.)

Pokémon: LeafGreen Version is an enhanced version of the original Pokémon: Green Version. Many glitches have been removed, and the random mechanics behind wild encounters have changed. This leads to very different strategies compared to our fastest runs on the original generation of games, and as a result, runs of this game see much more of the plot.
This run defeats the Elite Four and Champion twice; after the first time through is a post-game side quest in a new area known as the Sevii Islands, introduced in these remakes. Completing this quest unlocks the "National Pokédex" and enables trading with the Hoenn-region Generation 3 games (Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald) and also gives the Elite Four and Champion new, higher-level Pokémon teams for the player to fight.

It goes somewhat slower because of this, but new inventive solutions are used to get through each act, and the result is still much faster than any oversized ferret ought to be moving.

There are two encodes for this movie: The first is a standard encode and the second is a camhacked encode that keeps Sonic in the center of the screen more often.

Through strategic use of save-and-restore and a glitch allowing rapid diagonal movement and zipping, Wario gets away with all the loot in this S-Hard mode run by Reseren, which is a difficulty mode that's unlocked after beating the game on Hard mode. S-Hard significantly increases the difficulty in comparison to hard mode, by forcing Wario to start each level with one heart, changing the locations of the chests, as well as reducing the time you have from the frog switches (some levels even changing where you activate them).

Like its predecessor, it revolves around taming and training monsters from the Dragon Quest universe to do your fighting for you.
The story starts with either Tara or Cobi traveling to the island of Greatlog to open a monster ranch there. However, the island's prince Kameha and his assistant Warubou manage to sink the island with their troublemaking. It's up to Tara or Cobi to explore various worlds to find keys and a special plug to save the island from completely sinking.

Keitai Denjū Telefang (携帯電獣テレファング) is a series of video games produced by Natsume and published by Smilesoft. The games are monster-battling games, where the player contacts various creatures using a cell phone-like device called a D-Shot in order to get them to battle the foes he or she will encounter. The name of the series derives from Keitai, which is Japanese for "cell phone," since phoning creatures is an integral part of the game, and "fang," to symbolize the various beasts involved.
Passwords (phone numbers) can be used to obtain very strong Denjuu, but are not used in this run. There's also a way to beat this game insanely fast with the use of major glitches, like this other movie we have for this game does, but those aren't used in this run either.

The current Pokémon: Yellow Version speed record uses heavy glitches that allow the player to catalog every Pokémon in slightly over a minute. Is there any way to get more ridiculous than that? Yes! In this run, using nothing but the Game Boy buttons and tool-assisted precision, the game is made to run an arbitrary program which greatly expands the game and shows off cool stuff from elsewhere too. For details on how this was achieved, see the author's comments.

The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons is one of two The Legend of Zelda games that were developed by Capcom and released concurrently in 2001, the other one being Oracle of Ages. Friend and foes alike were sucked up and taken into this void. On the other side, the Duke's Castle and its inhabitants mysteriously found themselves deposited within a hollow valley, securely guarded by impossibly high cliffs illuminated by a flaring red sun overhead. The authors of this TAS barely even play the game, instead beating it by supersliding to the observatory and then sliding off of a pot using a bomb.
In this heavily glitched run of Majora's Mask, the authors achieve total control of the game using the newly discovered Stale Reference Manipulation (SRM) technique, allowing them to unlock inputs on a third controller and then using it to input and execute code that jumps the game straight to its credits sequence. Setting up the SRM is quite a feat, and it, along with loads of other tricks used in this run, are explained in detail in the authors' submission notes. The submission notes go over in great details all the stipulations of the goal, the tricks, and glitches.

In this TAS of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, the author aims to beat the game as quickly as possible while completing all dungeons, temples, and Ganon Trials. This goal is commonly referred to as "all temples", "all dungeons", or "MST (Medallions/Stones/Trials)".
This run has 14:26.90 minutes of improvements in gameplay over the previous TAS of its kind. We reccomend checking out the author's submission notes for more information on the improvements.
The author's notes explain in great detail many of the things done in this TAS which may be confusing to those who aren't familiar with Ocarina of Time speedrunning. Reading them is strongly advised.
You can also watch a live commentary video from the author and from ZFG here.
This TAS is played on the Japanese version of the game. The reason for this is that the text is significantly faster than in the English version, which means that far less time (roughly 12 minutes) is spent waiting for text boxes and cut scenes to end before getting back to the action.
