So I read the proposed changed to the bill along with the original sections under discussion. It applies to those who make a copy of a copyrighted work, and there's also a discussion of those who make a profit off of that copyrighted work. In our case, we're not copying the copyrighted work, we're producing a video from it - which is okay under fair use in most cases. Further, we're not making a profit off of these videos. Sure, it's a problem if you make a video copy of a movie or something, but that's not what we're doing. Who thought this had to do with streaming video produced from a video game?

If you want exactly one to the other, it's possible. Are you asking for something more dynamic?

Metal Slug X still needs that star. X is more entertaining 3, and probably more well known.

If I recall correctly, Metal Slug 3 was SNK's last hurrah
Pretty much. Was their last Metal Slug game though.

So they tried to pack as much stuff into it as possible. Perhaps too much. The last mission definitely drags on.
They could've been more honest about it though. Level 5 ends with killing the impostor after the convoy section. Level 6 is all the space areas until the walking part in the mothership. Level 7 is everything up to the queen. Level 8 everything after that. That'd make it only two levels longer than their other games. Or rearrange it a bit and make it 7 levels total, which would be respectable. Still doesn't help with the other insanity though. There was way too many enemies coming at you from all over all at once quickly all the time, especially during the last half of mission 5. Just to compare, first time I played Metal Slug 2, I beat the whole game on two quarters. First time through Metal Slug 3, I needed 17. Big difference.

The final mission is half the game. They should at least have added a mission change at the abduction.
The final mission was like 8 levels. Here's the parts: Air Convoy Space Flying in the mothership Rescue bad guy Go fight off the alien horde Rescue friend Escape Then of course all the bosses too: Mr. "ha ha ha, ha ha ha" The alien in a bad guy costume Mothership Queen Friend in a cocoon Queen take 2 ------------------- On top of all that, this game introduced many varied paths through the levels. Unlike the previous games, it introduced a trillion enemies coming at you all at once from all sides all the time. The boss was rarely on the same segment of game that led up to it. The bosses made no sense. Are we fighting off an enemy army or an alien one? What's with statues falling from some crashed wreckage of different aliens? What's with a flying money head? While the game is really loaded, I feel the game suffered from bad game design, they went overboard in too many areas. Four and five toned down the insanity a bit, but four had its share of ridiculousness too. Good luck beating the final boss in four without taking a hit. The weaponry that boss had was insane.

Nach, Metal Slug X also runs on the Giga Spec hardware instead of the Max 330 Mega Pro-Gear Spec hardware. Try Mission 1 in Metal Slug 2 in real time and after the three towers mini boss the exploding wall should lag the game. Meanwhile, X does not lag there.
I know full well, I played both games hundreds of times.

2? Is X the optimized one to 2?
X is a remixed version of 2. X remixed some of the music, and redid a lot of the artwork. The maps were altered a little bit in a few places. The enemy placement in X is very different from 2. They even moved some bosses around and brought in a boss from MS1. X also added on some new weapons and changed weapon placement around also.

Is 2 acceptable?
Sure, it's a different game. They may have a bunch of similarities, but they're not the same game. You'll need to rethink your weapon management strategy for effectively playing 2. For those that didn't see it above, there's an improved torrent available: http://tracker.tasvideos.org/mslug3_TAS_by_x2poet_fixed.avi.torrent

That's one way of looking at it. Another way of looking at it is that it's an awesome game, which was later remixed into an even more awesome but different game.

Since some have complained that site is too slow, here's a torrent: http://tracker.tasvideos.org/mslug3_TAS_by_x2poet_fixed.avi.torrent Edit: Replacing torrent with the new file available from the post above, smaller and frame rate is now correct.

We provide several public XML based APIs. Recent publications: http://tasvideos.org/publications.rss A list of systems and movies for them: http://tasvideos.org/systems.rss You can also access data on any movie: http://tasvideos.org/1234M.rss Just put in the number you want. There's an XBMC plug-in that makes use of it. Ilari also has a bunch of scripts that use it that he uses to automate updating parts of the site with.

I realized we didn't have a thread to discuss our APIs, so I'm making one. Perhaps we should also have a page describing the available XML APIs, and perhaps some examples of what you can do with them. If you have any desires for API additions or modifications to the site to retrieve information easily, please list them here. If you have questions regarding API usage, ask here. ------------------ I've been considering allowing each RSS feed of a movie which obsoletes others to list them. Maybe using atom:contributor? Thoughts? There's also been a request to provide a per submission feed. Any additional data you want it to serve?

This already happened in the past but now with DarkKobold's 8-hours movie we have a blatant example, of people voting without watching the movie. Unless they had access to earlier WIPs, the three people who already voted on this after only 2 hours didn't have the chance to watch it. Ok, maybe two people since DarkKobold himself is allowed to vote on his own movie. However this was just an example as it happened several other times in the past, especially with hours-long submissions.
I would like to counter this seeming *fact*. An 8 hour run would seem like it needs 8 hours to watch, but in fact this doesn't hold true. If someone sets his emulator (or video player) to double speed, he can watch an 8 hour run in 4 hours. Before you think that is absurd, for slower paced games, I'm surprised there are people who aren't considering doing that. For any game where the action is slow, I generally increase the frame rate a bit to watch the run faster if the emulator supports doing so. For the MKVs/MP4s we produce, MPlayer and other video players support increasing the frame rate. For those watching a movie, and already know the game, quite often, they'll skip cut scenes too. I can't remember the last time I downloaded an MKV/MP4 of a Mega Man game where I didn't fast forward past the "you got weapon" scenes. Now I'm not saying that's what happened in this case (8 hours -> 2 hours), but it's something to consider, especially for an RPG filled with cut scenes.
