Well, I remember all those times we though Mega Man 1 was perfect... Regarding this run, I have to vote no because you didn't pick up a shell and use it to jump over a pipe by bouncing it off the wall while jumping with it like JXQ did.

Yes due to 21 frames rule, 1-1 to 8-3 can't be improved and I didn't slowed down at 8-4 except at those places where it was necessary.
Can't be improved for less than 22 frames. Someone could find a new glitch which would give more than 21 frames, or make a different route more feasable.

Oh man I couldn't stop laughing. And the CNN/IM/Todo list, and Super Metroid pics were great. Thanks for the usual top grade entertainment JXQ.

You really believe that? Of the DMG ones, MMII is the most cracked. This game is buggy in just so many ways. Most unuseful for a TAS though. I really love the weapon change refill glitch though.

Sorry, I'll have to get around to that. My version of VBA still doesn't have proper movie recording :(

There's several editors available which will allow you to copy and paste later stages. However this won't always work right depending on how the randomness in the game works. If you mention which format/emulator you're using, we can point you in the right direction of the tools to use. Edit: Also see here: http://tasvideos.org/Downloads.html#tools_

Wait, what? I thought that he didn't release anything that could be sucked up and hurled back at him.

Not always. On the ZSNES board, we've had the arena challenge more than once where you have to do it all weaponless in the best time. The real challenge is beating Meta Knight without any weapons.

JXQ: Found something else new, switches in levels which turns on and off various blocks. Not a P-Switch, a light switch type of device (but it doesn't control a light but blocks).

This may come off as a shock to some, but some bosses can be beaten the fastest weaponless. Also a full weaponless run may be the most interesting.

Okay I just beat world 1. I think the levels seemed to be drug inspired. However so far there's the poison mushrooms from the lost levels, and some stuff brought back from SMB3. I'll post more details after I waste more time not programming playing this game. Edit: I did notice one new type of block, it breaks when you jump on top of it.

Okay, I just noticed this IPS file requires a ROM header how annoying. But I used ipsedit (included with NSRT) to remove the header offsets from the IPS file. Non header version for convenience here - http://nsrt.edgeemu.com/tsrp2.zip Note, copy your Super Mario World US ROM to tsrp2.sfc (or .gz, .zip, .jma) and load in ZSNES, Snes9x, or SNEeSe, and it'll auto patch it if the IPS file is decompressed to the same location as the ROM.

Wow! At first I thought eh not another one. But then I saw the SML2 style Wario level screenshot, and I was sold!

I concur excellent work in deed. I also want to say thanks to adelikat for giving me a heads up when another of the types of movies I encode becomes accepted.

Just use NSRT, it's easy, and should be part of everyone's SNES toolkit.

A bunch are posted from time to time on the ZSNES board. There's also an archive up on Zophar's.

That's fine with me, just means I have to reencode the movie yet again, but at least this times my script is ready :)

Okay, I finished encoding it, and went to watch the whole thing and noticed it stopped in the middle. Rereading the submission I see that was intentional. However there is a matter of if that goes against our guidelines or not, and it does leave the movie end feeling weird without any closure. I spoke with Bisqwit about it, but we can't decide whether it should be published or not.

Who changed the screenshot and why? The old one looked cool to see Link jumping in middle of nowhere, and someone who knows this game would wonder how the author did it without the flying chicken. The new one just looks like any random bland spot.

Looks good. I setup my encode system, hopefully when I wake up tomorrow it'll be ready for publishing.

Okay, don't know why I missed this earlier, logo support for movie dumping is now in SVN. See http://board.zsnes.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=135835#135835 for more details.
