Is there a method to madness to sync the speed of an OpenGL pcsx-rr dump to that of a Software pcsx-rr dump at all? I have provided files for 2 games which run at different frame rates. Tekken 3 (60fps) - Software (560MB) / OpenGL (404MB) / Zip File (964MB) Crash Bandicoot (30fps) - Software (311MB) / OpenGL30 (500MB) / OpenGL60 (495MB) / Zip File (1.26GB) -- Yes, I know I could've made these 320x240 but I did 640x480 instead. All these are using Lagarith. -- Probably the most noticeable thing about the OpenGL dump is there's practically no loads. In Tekken 3 directly at the end of the first round there should be a bit of a load for the next character Mokujin becomes. In Crash Bandicoot's loading should exist 5 times before loading into the first level and not jumped over. Another thing to note using Crash Bandicoot. You have to dump at the game's framerate (30fps) not the console's framerate (60fps) to have the correct speed. But which is actually correct in this situation? Is there a method such as using ExactDedup to actually make this work? Or is it something I'm somehow missing in kkapture after doing every possible combination?

I rate this a newspaper out of 10 which apparently doesn't equate to anything useful here so I guess a yes vote it is then. Also shotgun to pubs.

The images are fine, they're all under a megabyte each compared to something else I can think of. Also what do you expect from an Aran post except for an essay. But images? Mate, that's a bonus.

This pulls two questions from me then. - Why was this done on 1.11.6 this version is 3 years old. - Why was this done on the less accurate QuickNES?

Here's a 3 frame improvement with better opening input (see quote) as well as an additional 315 frames shaved for better ending input and truncating. Enjoy whoever replaces the submission file.

Less than 6 minutes in accordance to this speedrun: Link to video Hello KAGE-008 and welcome to TASVideos, unfortunately your TAS is slower than an unassisted speedrun of this game. Your input has problems to it as well with button mashing that can be seen present in your starting input which to me means you aren't taking full advantage of the tools provided to you. Best of luck on your next run.

Hello DarkMatrix and welcome to TASVideos. Did you know, in order to be faster than HappyLee you must be touching the axe and not be in the air. Here's HappyLee's final frame for reference: This is just early input ending. Now I'm not going to go deep dive into it but I do know that this matches HappyLee's time. This TAS is just another 04:57.31. Try again next time.

andypanther, I disagree with that for two reasons. 1. high score implies that there's a max score which should have a TAS instead of a high score one. 2. If you're going to do any% you might as well just go fast and not care about score. You can see this Touhou TAS (superplay) that maxes the score out at 2,429,908,660 points.

Yes. For the same reasons after all, nothing was changed from 2015 to 2019. Even if a 0.9.12 that comes out, and doesn't address the issues it will still be worse than 0.9.9.

Here's a list of Video Games that actually classify as Adventure so you can better understand the genre a bit better instead of plopping it on games that aren't that: - Adventure (ha) - Tomb Raider Series - Uncharted Series - Grand Theft Auto Series (and Bully) - Sleeping Dogs - Mafia Series - Assassin's Creed Series -- Personally I'd argue that the PSP/DS titles aren't. - Harry Potter -- Note: Not stating series as I only went through the first 3 games personally - Metroidvania genre of games. Personally, I just want to see you walk to the doors of SM64 and convince them that it's really an Adventure Game. Cause Spoilers. It isn't.

Unfortunately that In-Game Timer is actually useful albeit to what you're stating is "inaccurate", as it does indeed show that it is one frame faster. Again I'm not a person who does racing games, so I'm not going to go over Auckland and do all 5 laps to see if more can be skinned off but it is something worth noting that the TAS isn't using racing lines efficiently. This game also doesn't feature frame rules, so there's no catchup available after that point. Again you can check the input I provided on my other post about this case, or just grab it from this post.

Now, I may not know much about racing games nor sitting down for ~2 months to TAS it out, but I do know about in-game time. Your Movie: Your Movie but the final turn is different: What's going on here?

You should seriously learn your own speedgame. You could've done a simple check out of curiosity and you didn't. Especially with the first level which has a good chunk of lag frames at the "Stage Completed" screen and you could've seen what pressing Start (or any button) would've done. None of this surprises me that you didn't. What surprises me is that you did this very method on your speedrun but didn't do it on your TAS. Like how? We can technically state that your speedrun is faster than this TAS at every "Stage Completed" screen.

At a "Stage Completed" screen you can hit Start to transition to the next screen sooner. Your input lets it play out. That's 238 frames. It may seem small, but there's 9 levels (excluding final). That's 2142 frames (00:35.64) improvement thanks to a free timeloss.

Deliberately overshooting input is deliberate, input fix for ending is here (11784 frames (03:16.08) saved from ending input earlier). Looking at the input, I have no idea what to say about this TAS. It leaves more questions than answers. When setting for the special move you're putting in more input than you should, it's 6 frames not 15 (actually 10 since the trailing 5 is ignored). So the execution is slower than it needs to be. What are the character differences, you didn't go into that. What's the advantages/disadvantages does this TAS have over 2 players, cause there's a lot of cleanup work that looks like it would've been alleviated by a second player.

I found a way around this by disabling those transformations entirely. Only problem is it requires the use of a game genie code which the game specifically forbids. Is there a possibility you guys can make an exception for this?
