I am working on a TAS for this atm as well. Has the midboss in New Junk City been improved? I got it with only one jump over. I may have been watching an older TAS, but he got it after 4 jumps. I found you can float him in the air at the beginning of the fight with your whip, allowing for extra dmg before he hits the ground. Also, plasma shot animations can be cancelled by whipping, and then you can cancel the whip animation with another plasma, repeat. I shot 4 plasmas in 8 frames, however, I dont think the boss took damage from 2 of them due to iframes. I didnt think that boss had iframes, but I'm still new to TASing this game. I am very curious where the skip was found. I have tried to find a way to dmg boost off the crow at the beginning of NJC and clip into the cliff above to get the toilet warp early. No luck so far, but I feel like it should be possible.
Chuck, the boss of New Junk City, can only take one hit before he starts throwing up fishes. While the regular Genesis version is faster compared to the special edition, the special edition is the definitive version so all my work is being done on that one.

Awesome to hear about the improvements! I'll be looking forward to it.
Both TAS's are still a bit a ways from being completed but are being worked on slowly. The skip that Archanfel found is amazing and I can't wait for everyone to see it.

Double post, even though it's been almost 9 months, I'll be TAS'ing both Jim special edition and updating Jim 2 very soon. Need to plan everything out beforehand but expect updates as soon as I work everything out. WIP twitch streams will also happen so people can come chill and help keep me sane while I work on them.

There is also new stuff skip that i discovered recently by myself. At moment this is unknown even for "omniscient" EWJ-speedrunning community.
A new skip would be amazing, can't wait to see how crazy it is. Also, we're not really omniscient, we just have a great love for ewj. And feos, I'll look into that, thanks.

Well, here's (part) the first stage with that new jump. It reminds me of Aladdin a lot.
Aladdin and Jim use the same engine. Good start so far. If you're actually going to do the entire game, hit me up. I'll be glad to dump a bunch of knowledge on everything we know so far.

I wondering is it possible to do similar jump to make skip in Intestinal Distress? Or not?
I just tested it and it's not possible to get up there with a normal chain jump or a leaping chain jump. A hitbox viewer would really help a lot, so we can see what's up. The one for Jim 2 helped out immensely in finding new stuff

P.S. Question about high chain jump in Intestinal Distress is still open.
I'll do some testing when I get home on that spot. SE hasn't been looked at as in-depth as the regular Genesis version has, so there is time to be saved, possibly, in evey stage

The snowman skip has been known for over a year and works on both the SE and regular versions. Really cool to see others figure it out without any input from the Jim runners. It's possible to do the chain jump in Level 5 on the first set of chains that is closer to the portal, but it requires a leaping chain jump instead of a hop chain jump, which is not possible (yet) from below.

Is this testing going to happen in the near future (so you'll cancel/update this run) or some time later (so I should judge this run now)?
Testing is not going to happen for a while. I'll do more testing after the new year when I have more free time. So please, go ahead and judge this run

Could you post time per level comparisons?
Added time table for time comparisons. I notice now, that I lost small time on three stages, but I'm kinda burned out from TAS'ing. I'll go back at a later date and re-do this run. I'll check the script you made and see if it can help out further for later

Alright, I have completed the Easy TAS. It took a while but it's all good now. Do I just cancel the submission and resubmit?

You might want to wait until I figure out how to manipulate Puppy Love better (if it's possible, otherwise I'll just post why it's not).
I don't think it's possible to manipulate puppy love more than we already know, but of you want to keep going, go for it. Maybe you can figure out how fast starts work and we can make it happen every time.

I can probably have the new easy run done by the end of tonight, if not by Friday. I'll let you guys know by the days end to see where I'm at

Alright, I'll obsolete this run when I get around to doing it on easy. How does that work, do I just resubmit it?

My reasoning for picking difficult, is due to the current Jim SE run is done on difficult. Figured people would enjoy it more. If everyone wants to see an Easy run for less puppy loves, then I am willing to cancel this submission in lue of that and re-submit that

Hm, it looks like the next unit to spawn in Puppy Love is just read from ROM sequentially, and is always the same every time you replay that level? Any insight before I test tomorrow?
Bouncing all the puppies in a set, makes the following set be the exact same. Bouncing certain puppies only, changes everything. That's why you see Jim bounce certain puppies and dropping others, it's all to get better upcoming sets of puppies. Hope that answers your question

Psycrow doesn't run faster than you on difficult, he runs a little bit slower than Jim. Also, Pedro takes 40 hits on dif, 20 on normal, and 10 on easy to beat

What does the difficulty level affect other than amount of Puppy Love rounds?
Easy gives you 3 rounds, normal is 4, and difficult is 5. Btw, any chance you could send me the Lua file you have for puppy love? I want to mess around with it. I was debating using a Rom hack a friend made that gets rid of all the puppy loves, but I didn't know if that is allowed
