Finally Tails gets some love! Some nice new tricks and a few golden oldies, my jaw was stuck to the floor for most of the run- definitely Tails' finest half hour and definitely a yes from me.

Someone found an improvement to one of the bonus levels: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0IHSBBkHAXw It improves it by about 2 tenths.
This is not at all optimised, should be possible to get atleast a few more frames off it if not close to a second. Also it'd be interesting to see a run done using normal mode, I discovered a glitch where momentum during super mode when you use a star pole is conserved, you simply keep bouncing off of any wall, floor or ceiling. Link to video This could open up many potential shortcuts, I've been working on a skip for the last metronome on Sonata 1, you can get right up over the wall at the end, however an invisible barrier pushes you back out, if someone can find a way through it would save alot of time, I have a feeling it could just be a matter of optimizing your movements to conserve enough momentum to get through to the other side, I don't know how far you'd need to travel however. It may not even be possible but if it is I'm sure someone here can make it happen! Love this game, a new run would be awesome!

I checked it, the level wrap works with Sonic. I'm also fairly certain, that the current time of 1:03 with Sonic+Tails can be improved. Sonic can get into Knuckles' path by spindashing through the left sprite wall at the end of the elevator section.
Do not worry, you certainly will see the improvement in marzojr&Aglar’s next TAS :)
I can't wait! marzojr&aglar are two of my main inspirations for playing this game and trying to break it, seeing the stuff those 2 and the real time runners like mike89 and werster can do started an obsession!

On Death Egg 2 I discovered you could get into the wall as Tails using any of the downwards traveling stairs but never found any way to activate horizontal underflow, it was after seeing DMTMs Sonic run I and remembering the way jumping inside the wall on FB1 as Knux allowed me to move downwards that looked into it again and managed to activate underflow. I then showed the gmv to DMTM in hopes that he could help me into the boss room in a position that was useful, he said he didnt think it was possible, after another while playing around with my y position I discovered that if you were at just the right height you could zip left into the gravity switcher. I think DMTMs claim is that he discovered horizontal underflow on DE2 but the Tails strat I came up with by myself. Yes he has found many great tricks and glitches, full credit to him for making so many great finds, I only have 2 but I'm quite proud I've made any contribution at all. Going from watching the game be broken and having my jaw dropped not even a year ago to finding stuff by myself. I don't really mind if someone else finds something 1st, I just love watching the game get destroyed, but when I discover something new myself I'd like people to know it was my find. I'm not great at speed running or TASing but at least I can do something to help. Sorry about the length.

I beleive marzo already said he'd try the Tails run when he was done with the newgame+/Sonic and Tails runs, I'd love to see one too.

Gotta agree with marzo, the classics are so much better, its great to be able to play the classics with different characters or totally new level layouts etc, its like playing a totally new 16 bit Sonic game, the physics and all the other things we all love inthe classics remain but the levels are entirely new, Sega isn't really accomplishing this, most of the new Sonic games are terrible and I never really thought it worked well in 3D. Fans do what Sega don't.

An oldie but a goodie, that was an awesome TAS. The problem with doing a no glitch or low glitch run is that peoples opinions of what a glitch is or how big a glitch has to be to be disallowed varies massively- you can never please every one, I mean look at the controversy surrounding certain tricks on the S1 no zips run. The only way to please everyone would be to make an endless list of pointless categories, while it is a nice idea to show off more "normal" gameplay it ends up getting needlessly complicated with long lists of and arguments over what should and shouldn't be allowed.

Don't know if this is the right place to post, anyways I'm trying to add an avatar to my account. Is it possible to add one from my computer or does it have to be linked off-site as ther doesn't appear to be any buttons giving me the option to lift it from my hard drive. However when I try to link offsite I am always confronted with the folowing message: "The URL of the remote avatar is not valid" Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks for your patience, I feel like such a noob even asking this.

We need any% for all characters including Sonic alone. Any% awesomeness x4 esp. with all the new routes and glitches being found. The differences in route and strategy between the 3 characters alone vs Sonic and Tails together are large enough to keep things interesting. I know it's a huge project but the people who take this on wud be heroes! Atleast in my eyes. I'd love to be a part of the Tails run but I suck at optimisation. I'm always on the look out for new glitches tho so I'll keep you posted if I find anything that cud save time, no matter how small. I may not be able to TAS myself but atleast I can contribute something as breaking my favourite childhood games is definately something I'd love to be a part of. Thanks for the great site and all the fantastic movies, keep 'em cummin' guys and gals!

Wow, that's a great find! I was able to pull it off in real time too (breaking into the boss room is tricky, but you can kinda time it with Tails's flight), so that's awesome! I'd also love to see an optimised Tails run, but it can't be easy when there's new strats being found all the time :P
Well we have the next best thing. Your run at AGDQ was incredible and you and your brothers runs have been a big inspiration for me, well those and the awesome TASs that already exist!

Found a new zip for Tails in DE2 if anyones interested. Won't work for Sonic as his hitbox is too big and he will be ejected back onto the ground but DMTMs Strat is faster anyway. Very unoptimised. Love to see a well done full game run with Tails. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/803664210/Tails%20DE2.gmv
