Different kinds of grinds, though. Dawn of Sorrow has grinding for random drops (i.e. souls), which are far too rare, and it has an asinine system that converts souls to weapons. So if you want good weapons then you have to grind for souls and then use those souls up so you don't have them any more. Portrait of Ruin has grinding for subweapon mastery, which is just playing normally while making certain to tag each enemy you kill with your subweapon at least once. But you aren't forced to grind for them except if you want to 100% the game (since a few "sidequests" involve mastering subweapons). If you do want to 100% it though then you're in for a lot of enemy killing, since several subweapons take far too long to master. Order of Ecclesia didn't have that much grinding that I noticed. There's the occasional glyph drop from enemies, but mostly there's enough enemies, and the drops are common enough, that you can get it without grinding. On the flipside, the game is hard enough that you may find yourself wanting to grind out levels (and/or cash for healing items). Personally I didn't do either and had a hell of a time beating certain bosses. Then I got to the final boss, said "screw it", and ate about 50000 calories worth of food (i.e. all the healing items I'd stocked up and never used) for healing rather than go to the trouble to master the fight.
That's the problem I find with those games in general. Rather than having the player get 'the occasional lucky drop', it feels more like you're being punished for not grinding. This is especially true with Dawn's weapon fusion system, but completing the questlines in Portrait and OoE can be fairly grindy as well. Bonus points if you are a completionist who likes to fill out the game's bestiary (i.e. get every possible enemy drop at least once). On a side note, it does feel like the drop rates are higher on items (or souls) that you have already acquired once, however. Anyhow, Warp, don't let that discourage you from playing one of these games, they are great fun and very engaging. The question is just whether you can live with some grinding to get the best gear or 100% the game..

I found the fan film quite enjoyable, frankly. A bit rough around the edges, sure, but that's part of the charm. I mean, it is an unofficial episode, so it can do obvious fan references such as the scene with Derpy and the Flowerpots or the goddamn Powerpuff Girls. I find people are being way too critical of what is essentially a student project. As for the other thing, I am greatly disheartened by the seperationist attitude between 'bronies' and 'non-bronies'. If people were to simply accept you can like a children's cartoon and would just live and let live, the internet would be a better place.

I've seen a news article about this earlier in some other place. That is what I meant.

Call of Duty Classic and beyond? Even though mouse input cannot be done, aim can still be done with arrow keys. The hipfire aim can be manipulated insanely...
I'd almost wager that even if aiming is accounted for, Call of Duty simply is too modern and far, far too resource demanding to be TASed in any capacity. If I remember correctly though, it was based on the Quake 3 engine, so somewhere in the game, internal demo recording tools should be hidden. For the time being, utilizing those is your best bet.

Really cool run, bit difficult to follow what's going on due to the frequent warping. The pause screens are a bit of a shame too, especially in the final boss fight, but I liked the run nonetheless. Great improvement, and as impressive to watch as any HoD run, yes vote.

They should be integrating Age of Forgotten Empires into it. Other than that, having played AoE2 a lot back in the day, I'm very excited for this. /By the way, there's still an active online scene on Voobly and GameRanger - Youtube Users ZeroEmpires and BBQTurkman have done a lot of casts on those games, including prized tournaments and the like. Very exciting stuff.

Quite frankly, I'm sincerely hopeful my cynicism is unfounded and the spinoff will be genuinely entertaining, if not even amazing. I'm no purist at all when it comes to ponies, and I think two pieces of concept art are too early to make a valid judgement about it. However it'll turn out, I'm curious to see it.

Rainbow I could actually see wearing a skirt. Applejack, not so much.
The original shot showed them in a modern school hall, so I'm assuming they will put the character origins more in the background in favor of wacky teenage antics. Which in turn means who cares what set the ponies apart initially and made them unique? It's gotta be like an anime. Our target audience loves animes, right?

<scrimpy> Ooh, nice Very amazing run indeed. Normally I tend to not be a big fan of glitched runs because they teleport you straight to the end in no time. In this particular case, it was filled with amazing surprises, such as syncing yoshi's actions to the final boss music, making the run very, very enjoyable. I also see that the run is about a second slower as NxCy's, but I guess that is due to emulator differences. Obvious yes vote

You mean the trick where a metal blade gets stuck in place? Your normally just do it by pressing L+R when attacking. It could very well be that, as it's a hack, the author has fixed the glitch. In that case, you're out of luck.
No, I actually meant the trick where you throw a Metal Blade at the bottom of the screen. In this way, you can actually scroll from the bottom of the screen to the next screen. Sorry about that, I should have been more specific.
I think that's caused by lag rather than a specific weapon. I don't know the exact details of it, but they are written down in the game resources page. Try to have many enemies on the screen at once or have them all fire at the same time, that should up your chances. Good luck

Fantastic watch, but I fear it will cause problems once it gets around to the validity of the run. Personally, I find that it, as it makes the game so much more entertaining to watch, it should be fine, even if it's a hack. (Compare HLSP Bunny mod, which Half-Life speedrunners use)

Dark Souls is a hard game indeed, but it becomes managable once you know what you're doing. Rather than being unforgivably hard, it more has a high barrier for entry, but once you know which enemies are tough and how to get past them, it becomes doable. Additionally, many parts of Dark Souls are only as hard as you make them - if you spend the time to get the materials to upgrade your weapons, learn the boss attack patterns and make sure to always take a bow with you with 999 arrows, you will generally get through. I haven't played Demons' Souls myself, so I can't gauge its difficulty in comparison to Dark Souls. From what I've seen, it looks more reasonable in some parts, and a lot harder in others (*cough* maneaters *cough*)
