I haven't been here in a while. I posted a long time ago about a Star Fox movie, but then I got bored of trying to make one and had other things to take up my time. Now I want to continue, only this time I'm using Linux. So anyway, I downloaded "snes9x-1.43-WIP1-src.tar.gz" and also the patch "snes9x-1.43WIP1-nesvideo-patchv3-bisqwit.txt". I untgzed it, ran the patch, did configure, make, and all that. So I run snes9x on my Star Fox rom, do a Shift+1, it asks me whether to record the movie from reset (y/n empty to cancel). I type 'y' and push enter, and it gives a seg fault. I do it again, only this time I type 'n', and it still gives a seg fault. It also gives a seg fault when I just press enter. That could be a problem for recording a movie, don't you think? Is this patch obsoleted or something? Or does it just happen to not work for me?

You can try mine. It has aspects of bisqwit's patch in it, as well as the "improved" version's code. If you're recording/playing back from the pre-1.43 snes9x release, specify -wip on the command-line. http://dehacked.2y.net/snes9x-improvement7-unixv2.tar.bz2

Well, that did fix the seg fault problem, only now I can't play back any movie that I record. I hit Shift+1, type "yes" to record from reset, "1" for number of players, and hit enter for the filename. I hit some buttons and get past the title screen, then hit Shift+3 to stop the movie. I then hit Shift+2, hit enter for the default filename, and the game resets. But it's not playing the movie, it just reset. I tried recording some more movies with different filenames, with the same result. I also tried playing those movies recorded with the "improvement" version in the normal "WIP" version, and they don't play there either.
