Hi, I'm playing Zelda: A Link to the Past and want to get all heart containers, but then I have to dig with my shovel in the Treasure Field in the dark world (same place where you have to reach the treasure chest in 15 seconds in the light world). But since I've already beaten the game I don't have the shovel no more, there are other items there instead. Is it impossible to get all heart containers for me now? When is the shovel replaced with another item? I didn't notice untill now when I need it. EDIT: I'm playing the SNES version of the game, if that is of any importance.

You cannot permanently miss anything in ALttP. Once you pay the man 80 rupees, your Y button will function as a spade. The heart appears randomly. So just keep digigng until it pops up.

I disagree. Once upon a time I thought I had a brilliant idea: I would retain the shovel you get to dig up the Flute and use it to dig up the treasure field to my hearts content (instead of paying the 80 rupees everytime). Not only did I not find the Piece of Heart, all subsequent replays (even with paying the man) did not produce a Piece of Heart either.

I'm pretty sure that as soon as you pay the money for the temp-shovel, the heart can appear anywhere on that screen. If you leave the screen, you lose the temp-shovel.

Ok, great! I was playing the Japanese version of the game so when the man you pay the 80 rupees rejected me when I wanted to dig I thought it was because I had no spade, but I probably did not have enough rupees. :( It is a fantastic game anyway.
