Author's comments and explanations:
I finished making my SMB3 speed run video (fmv is attached). The video length is 10:59 (beats Morimoto by 5 seconds!!!) and it stops when Mario enters the door in Bowser's room. As an added bonus, I even beat Bowser 1 time unit faster than Morimoto. By the way, I changed my mind and I'm not doing the scrolling levels all over again. It's not worth spending hours and hours just to make a few levels more fancy (and I also want to get started on a Zelda speed run video). The most important thing is speed. I strongly recommend that you put my video on your page (either replacing or in addition to Morimoto's video). It wouldn't make sense not to accept a video of such perfection in speed just because of lack of fanciness in a few levels.


Bisqwit: This is a historic submission, inserted to the database in August 2008 even though the original one was submitted (and published) in February 2004. I added it for completeness.

I don't think 5 seconds makes it any more cool...

Actually the speed is only a virtual goal.
The actual goal is to produce videos that are entertaining to watch. The speed as a goal usually produces entertainment automatically, but the real entertainment value comes when the player does things that _look_ like almost impossible.
It's not a competition.
Well I'll publish it anyway.

This is sort of weird because in my memory I actually rejected this submission, despite it being faster than its predecessor, because it was more "bleh".
