General Info

In this version, i modified the end of the final level by aiming for the right side when jumping in the spikes. Only this saved me over 50 frames but the real time saver was the Jafar battle. I manipulated the battle so that he dosent have time to do his lightning strikes. In all i saved over 3 secondes. Hope you guys like it.

Description

The Super Nintendo version of Aladdin was developed and published by Capcom. Unlike the Sega Mega Drive version of the game, the player does not equip a scimitar. The storyline more or less closely follows the plot of its namesake, the Disney full-length animated motion picture, with Aladdin going from a street rat to a prince, who first woos, and then has to rescue, the Princess Jasmine. Most levels and stages of the game will be readily recognized by people who have seen the motion picture, but there are a few levels that have nothing to do with the movie - including an Egyptian pyramid and a surreal world where Genie - dressed in a tuxedo - serves as Aladdin's guide. The game features renditions of the soundtrack from the Disney motion picture, as well as several mini-games dependent on the player catching a golden scarab or collecting all diamonds within a stage. An extra challenge involved finding 50 red diamonds throughout the game. While they weren't necessary for ending the game, the credits screen changes slightly according to how many diamonds were collected.

In this run, a small modification was put into jumping and the turbo cape. I took care of pressing the jump button one frame before i touched the ground. This helped me save a lot of frames per jump from the last Aladdin TAS. In this run the turbo cape was carefully used. I noticed that when you grab diamonds (with the cape) or there is a lot of sprites on the screen, a fadeout lag occurs. I managed to avoid it by changing my button combinations. Also i try much more to be entertaining, by manipulating luck using unknown game features and combining my key input with the music.

General info:

  • I noticed while playing

    • When pressing front one frame and down the other repeatedly, Aladdin skates... It is so cute... No but its more entertaining than watching him wait for nothing.
    • At the end of the first cave level, some would go straight to the end of the level, but waiting for Abu, (the monkey) helped me save some frames.
    • While wall climbing, there is a way to make Aladdin climbwithout touching the wall, but i do not know how i did it. While climbing i did a combination of buttons just for entertainment and that's when it happened... It could be useful for short distance jump.
    • I grabbed 200 diamonds to gain two extra hearts, this allowed me to take more damage and save more time.I finished the game with 00 apple and 00 diamond.I used all 10 apples and 04 red rubys were grabbed along the way.The rubys are worth 10 diamonds.
    • While trying to avoid fadeout lag, i noticed that Aladdin can transform into a pixel box of some sort, but it only happened to me once in all the time i played. I doubt that it can be useful but it would be fun to be able to keep him in this form... just for a little while.

Truncated: Looks good, accepting as an improvement to the current movie.
