Author's comments and explanations:
Iji is an action-packed strategic platform shooter with a detailed story, large levels with multiple paths, powerful bosses and lots of secrets. There are alternate gameplay events, dialogues and scenes depending on what you do, a wealth of extras and bonus features, and seven stats to upgrade through a leveling system. Iji herself has superhuman strength and abilities, and can crack Nanotechnology, use her enemies' most devastating weapons against them, and be a pacifist or a killer - the story adapts to how you play.

If you want this run to sync, you will need to get the same savefile as me. In order to do this, download a fresh copy of the game, launch it, and then:

  1. Change 'screen shaking' to low.
  2. Change 'show time' to on.
  3. Go to 'more...'.
  4. Turn 'gamma effects' to off/low.
  5. Turn 'special effects' to off/low.
  6. Go back to the main menu and go into a game on normal difficulty.
  7. Skip the cutscenes with esc, and exit out of the game once you do. This step is in order for the settings to save.

If you can't be bothered doing all of that, you can just download everything you need here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1rrnqTq0nAW73_LvBDfRDLoGQLPsccD4r. To make sure it syncs it’s important to also get the hourglass config file so I would recommend downloading the whole thing. If you want audio, you need to set ‘multithreading and wait sync’ to wrap (for me it desyncs if I set it to allow). However this leads to long loading times and (at least for me) a lag spike after you crack Iosa and a very laggy Tor fight. I used Windows 10 to play it back but I think that it may work much better on Windows 7. For this reason I don’t know how to time it. I suggest providing a ‘lagless’ time which can be done by recording the TAS with Houglass’ built in audio/video recorder like I did https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MZLeKvwdnw0 . If you actually run the TAS yourself with audio it will most likely lag and take longer. I will leave the timing up to the judges but I think that the only fair way is to time the TAS as if it didn’t have lag. Otherwise the time would wary drastically based on which computer you would run it. Also time ends when Tor is defeated (in this case frame 49860 so regardless of how you choose to time it the time should be canged from what it is as of writing this (28:16).

This TAS was made in Hourglass r81 on Windows XP (which I emulated using Virtualbox). The reason I ran Iji 1.6 is because 1.7 does not work with Houglass (or at least savestates don’t work).

The aim of this TAS was to complete the game as fast as possible. For this reason I used the easiest difficulty ‘normal’. On other difficulties you need more nano (basically exp in this game) per level, which would make the shortcut in sector 5 and the massive skip in sector X impossible. I use extensive RNG manipulation in most sectors to get the optimal damage boost form enemies / good crack RNG. Most of the run is fairly standard, the only real glitch is at Proxima (I still don’t exactly know what causes it to skip an attack after it gets hit by lightning).

PS For those who voted no, could you please explain why? Feedback is always appreciated.

feos: Clearing the branch since non-pacifist is a common option and doesn't need to be called out.
