FLASHING LIGHTS WARNING

This is Police Trainer, a light gun shooter game by P&P Marketing in which the player must play through several quick minigames aimed at training and testing your aiming abilities, quick thinking, memorization, and how quickly you can shoot donuts.
For most of these levels there's not much to talk about but I will give some notes per level if there's anything worth mentioning.

Game objectives

  • Emulator used: BizHawk 2.9.1
  • make sure you also have a file named "bsmt2000.bin" as it's not included in the policetr.zip

Stage by stage comments

Patrol Man

Starting off pretty light. I try to shoot targets as soon as they spawn.
You'll notice I waste a bunch of bullets in some areas, this is because the levels immediately end when the player is out of ammo. Some stages I don't do this as it doesn't really save that much time and would be rather annoying to look at anyways with the amount of flashing that happens.
For the Visual Acuity level, these specific targets have a weird property to them where if you shoot the target's debris, it'll still count as a hit. I use this here and later in a similar mini game to gain extra points.

Sergeant

For the first marksmanship level you can actually shoot the targets before they come out, and if you do this before the pop out you can even rack up double points on them. Also if you shoot your gun fast enough after clearing the first screen of the minigame, it won't count against your ammo, which means this level I can go from 900 points to 1000 points.

Detective

So for the marksmanship level, for whatever reason the game lets me get an early shot on the target, and the spinning silver thing gives me just enough space for me to aim the gun at the yellow circle and start the shooting process early.
Same deal with the Memory game, for whatever reason the game doesn't prevent you from shooting early.

Captain

For the first marksmanship level, I also use a bullet shot at the start to not waste ammo and get an extra hit point into my score. Also for some reason it only makes the lower right target pop up and I don't know why it does this but it's very funny.
For the simulation, The game doesn't explicitly tell you you can shoot the running people, but they just so happen to be gun wielders so they actually do count for score here.

Chief

The bonus minigame I try to shoot any donut that is about to leave the screen so as I don't waste any extra score I could get.

Commissioner

The Timing minigame unfortunately only has enough bullets to shoot at every single target, but since the last bullet doesn't register on targets sometimes, the last sphere just doesn't register.

Other comments

This was a fun thing to do, I've never done a light gun game before and I feel like there can be some pretty big potential for other Arcade shooters like this in a TAS setting.
Also shout out to Samsara for the suggestion of naming the character "Bigger Jim".

eien86: Claiming for judging.

eien86: In this game about police training tasks, the author reaches the highest rank "Commissioner" in just about nine and a half minutes. How's that for carreer progression?
The movie is visibly optimized and beats the current RTA record by almost 10 minutes (although that doesn't tell much since the RTA record holder has had no competition). The author shoots at targets as soon as possible, many times before they even appear. Whenever the stage allows, some extra inputs are made for entertainment purposes, which adds to the experience. As far as I can tell, the author also shoots for (pun intended) for the highest score, but it's not clear to me whether this is the absolute possible maximum.
I was able to sync this movie using a later version of the cabinet, as I couldn't find the one used in the movie. I could not see any differences in sync or output compared to the author's encode (perhaps check the credits?)
