Awards
Each year TASVideos hosts an official awards ceremony where the best TASes and TASers of the year are recognized. The ceremony happens each January for the previous year. First there is a nomination process for each award category. Then a poll is opened for the audience to vote. The winner of the poll is given the official award. This tradition started officially for the 2007 movies. Award eligibility is based purely on the publication date. It must be between 1/1 and 12/31 of that year. Rookie eligibility is by date of the author's first publication.Award categories
TASer of the year
Awarded to the overall most impressive author.
Rookie of the year
Awarded to the overall most impressive "rookie" author. To be eligible as a rookie the author's very first publication must be dated in that year.
System X TASer of the year
Awarded for the authors that contributed to each of the specific platforms: NES, SNES, Sega (Genesis with its add-ons and Master System), GameBoy and its variants, and N64. Starting with 2009 the new platforms will be combined in a "New system TASer of the year" category. This category includes Game Gear, PlayStation, Saturn, Arcade, Nintendo DS, PC-Engine, and PC-Engine CD.
TAS of the year
Awarded to the overall most impressive TAS. The TAS of the year is done last. The winner of each TAS of the year award is entered into the TAS of the year poll.
System X TAS of the year
Awarded to the most impressive TAS of each of the specific platforms: NES, SNES, Sega (Genesis with its add-ons and Master System), GameBoy and its variants, and N64. Starting with 2009 the new platforms will be combined in a "New system TASer of the year" category. This category includes Game Gear, PlayStation, Saturn, Arcade, Nintendo DS, PC-Engine, and PC-Engine CD.
Funny TAS of the year
Awarded to the most funny/humorous TAS.
Glitchy TAS of the year
Awarded to the most glitched-out TAS.
Speedy TAS of the year
Awarded to the TAS with the fastest achieved character movement speeds (note: this is not about fastest in-game completion time, but rather fastest motion).
Lucky TAS of the year
Awarded to the TAS that demonstrates the most impressive luck manipulation.
Innovative TAS of the year
Awarded to the TAS that was the most groundbreaking in some way; doing something new and interesting.
