Metal Slug X (2001) is a remixed version of Metal Slug 2, the second installment of an immensely popular run'n'gun series released on the Neo Geo MVS. The games are notable for incredibly detailed pixel graphics, fluid animation, and good humor; but the real key to their longevity is, of course, their high difficulty as far as survival goes.

This is x2poet's 16.42 seconds improvement over the previous movie, despite now using the hardest difficulty setting. One notable improvement is the use of both players, compared to one in the obsoleted run.

You can also see more of x2poet's Metal Slug work by looking at his runs from Metal Slug, Metal Slug 3, Metal Slug 4 and Metal Slug Advance.

Cave Story (2004) is a famous freeware indie game notable for being made entirely by one person, Daisuke "Pixel" Amaya.

Watch as nitsuja completely destroys this difficult game with amazingly precise movement. This playthrough saves Curly and finishes with the best ending after beating Ballos.

The program used to make this run, Hourglass, was also developed by nitsuja—with the creation of this run in mind. As such, it is our first published run of a Windows game.

Brain Age (also known as Dr. Kawashima's Brain Training) is a puzzle game designed on the premise of exercising your brain. In this run, for example, the idea is to solve a series of simple mathematical puzzles.

And yet, the answers given... are not exactly what you'd expect.

The same author of the previous run brings you a set of 51 new ... answers, with extra time taken to provide you, the viewer, with the greatest possible attention to detail. Additionally, the increased detail provides a higher level of difficulty, to prevent the number recognition from checking the answer before the image is complete.

If you liked how this movie abuses a drawing recognition system, also see the trouble that TAS tools bring to a text recognition system.

Pokémon: Blue Version is part of the first generation of games within its famous series, known for having a very large number of beneficial glitches. In fact, the game can be completed in less than one minute of in-game time by save data corruption as evidenced in the run of the Yellow Version, and it can be completed in under half an hour using a more 'conventional' glitch, as shown by the other run on the Blue Version. These runs break the game, and avoid much of the gameplay intended by the developers.

And now, for something completely different. In this run, the authors, p4wn3r and Mukki, catch all 151 Pokémon and complete the game while only using what they call "light glitches", showing off much more of the game than seen in the other runs while still using many glitches to complete this goal much faster than the programmers could have imagined. For more details about the techniques used in this run, and for their definition of what constitutes a light glitch, as always, please read the authors' notes.

Following the constant advice of a talking hat and utilizing unique items as well as getting more use out of an ocarina than simply getting around, Tompa completes this task in record time, putting Vaati back in his place in a mere hour and 48 minutes!

Rockman & Forte (ロックマン&フォルテ), known as Mega Man & Bass in the western world, used to be the last game in the original Rockman/Mega Man series, until Rockman & Forte Mirai kara no Chōsensha (ロックマン&フォルテ 未来からの挑戦者) was released for the WonderSwan.

This time around, Dr. Wily has his own creation turned against him, allowing the player to use Mega Man or a bad guy!

However, in this run, the players only use Mega Man and collect each and every CD in the game, which shouldn't be possible using only one character. Then again, many things happen in this movie that weren't intended to be possible.

This run is a collaboration between sparky, the current author of the other branches for this game, parrot14green, the author of the previous "100 CDs" run, and woabcfl, the author of the Rockman no Constancy runs. It improves the previous movie by 1:40.96. You can read the authors' comments for more details.

There are two more Rockman & Forte runs to watch on this site; featuring completion of the game with Rockman and Forte as fast as possible, without worrying about CD collection.

In the direct sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Link is back to being a lone boy without a fairy. One day, he is attacked by Skull Kid and his two fairies, Tatl and Tael, and they steal his ocarina. After pursuing Skull Kid, he is transformed into a Deku Scrub. Link continues pursuing Skull Kid all the way to the Clock Town (now with the help of Tatl the fairy, a more 'in yo face' version of Navi).

This TAS of the game is the result of three years of hard work and many restarts due to new discoveries. It features many never-before-seen tricks and glitches, and completes every dungeon without getting a single boss key. Everything is done out of order, in ways that will amaze the viewer and keep them on the edge of their seat the entire way through, including a whole new way of warping between the areas in the game's over-world, and a new method of traveling that makes even the longest stretches in the game seem tiny.

The author beats the game in two 3-day cycles (the previous route used three), and does so in a way that puts every past attempt at a 6-day challenge to shame.

Note: There are encodes of higher resolutions in the discussion thread. Also, if you know the cutscenes of this game by memory at this point and would rather watch an encode without them, it's your lucky day.

Battletoads (1991) is a futuristic beat 'em up known for its graphics and extreme difficulty. The story is that the sexy Dark Queen who wants to rule the universe has kidnapped Princess Angelica and a toad named Pimple. Two other toads, Rash and Zitz, attempt to rescue them and defeat the Dark Queen.

Maybe you thought Battletoads was a game full of amphibians, but it is actually full of bugs. Those beta testers really should have spent a little more time on this game...

In this run, feos and MESHUGGAH beat the previously fastest TAS of this game by 2:22.16, this time using 2 players instead of 1. You will laugh, you will cry, but most of all, you will wonder how in the world they broke this game so much. Do yourself a favor and read the authors' notes.

To see the game broken even further with the use of memory corruption, watch this run.

Not only was Castlevania: Symphony of the Night the first installment of the Castlevania series on PSX, but also the very first PSX TAS to be published. Follow Dracula's son Alucard as he glitches through the castle on a quest to end his father's life.

By using an SRAM generated from this run and finding other tricks, arukAdo improved the previous movie by a massive 5:03.36. You can read the author's comments to learn more about the other improvements.

A 100% run covering the whole castle is also available. If you prefer the main character to have muscular bare arms and pray to the rain gods to defeat bosses, you may enjoy the Richter version.

Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island is a vibrant, colorful and fun game that stars the popular Yoshi. From a technical standpoint, the game is very exceptional on the SNES due to its use of the SuperFX chip, which allows for many cool special effects that are otherwise impossible on the SNES.

This movie by Carl Sagan (no, not that Carl Sagan) is fast-paced, action-packed, and full of entertaining tricks and maneuvers. In other words, the very essence we tool-assisted speedrun makers enjoy. It also improves the previous run of this game by over 5 minutes. For more details, we recommend reading the author's comments; there's a lot more to this movie than meets the eye.

This run forgoes using the null egg glitch to finish the game within minutes and instead plays through the regular levels. To see the null egg glitch in action, check out the any% run by Masterjun. For more Yoshi's Island action, check out our 100% run.

Ivy is a lost bird who is wandering aimlessly around looking for her mother. Normally when you play the game you simply draw vines for Ivy to walk on and you can pull them to bounce her over an obstacle.

With tools, this turns into a mad orgy of bouncing and springy physics action that is difficult to follow with the naked eye. Don't blink or you'll miss it!
