How does you run compare to AnS' attempt earlier in this thread?
If memory serves me right I do the first room (of level 4) about 1 second faster. And I think the whole level was three seconds faster, but I also lose quite many frames in the process - mainly from lag.

I started to experiment with this game not long after I had completed my Mega Man 3 run. But in the end I thought it was to much work in order to get the level of optimization that I would demand(The rng forces you to do lots of calculations which I can describe more if anyone wonders, plus the lag is soooo tedious). Now well over a year later I can pretty much guarantee I won't start a serious attempt of this so the best I can do is posting my work here to maybe inspire someone else to start this run (I'm talking about the full-game-run, not the channel x-run) and give others a taste of what an improved run of this game might look like: My first test run which is too sloppy to be submitted despite beating the current published run by 3 minutes - http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1579276848/Rockin%27%20Kats%20%28U%29%20%5B%33%5Dtest.fcm This run only plays the first 4 levels but is at that point about 1 minute faster than the one above, still only a test run though - http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1907383615/Rockin%27%20Kats%20%28U%29%20%5B%33%5Dtest2.fcm

I tried this game out this summer and produced the following 1-player test run. After this my intention was to make a 2-player run and then submit it but my interest pretty much died as I was taking the first steps with two players. Then a 2-player run of the SNES version of the game was submitted so I thought a NES-version wasn't needed. Anyway, since it's christmas I thought it'd be a good timing to make the run public as it's still pretty interesting, the highlight being level 5 I think. There have already been some submissions for this game but none that really made this game justice, not that I say that this run does so either but it's at least 4,5 minutes faster than the fastest submitted run. Enjoy! http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1178353449/Battletoads%20Double%20Dragon%20%28U%291playertest.fcm

Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and all that stuff. Later today I might give away some christmas presents in the NES forum, which I've saved for some time

I'm pretty sure you can do this game justice. I'll PM you my thoughts about it later.

Regarding the snifit glitch, it happened while playing on the Wii VC a while back. I was playing through the game normally as Mario, but when I entered Mouser's room (Pretty sure it was 1-3, but might have been 3-3), when I fell from the top of the screen into the boss room, I was holding a gray snifit for absolutely no reason. I threw it at Mouser.
Since it was on the Wii VC, is it guaranteed to work on the NES game too? And by the way, since you where able to throw the enemy at the boss it sounds more likely that it happened on level 3-3. About making this run I've given it some thought and I might consider taking it (for now - the warped run), someone needs to do it you know. Now I just need to team up with someone. This is because I won't be able to work with it that much for the next coming months, sry AngerFist - christmas will probably be to much to ask:(, and we'll be more sure that the run is optimized this way - which is of course extra important in a Mario game. If someone feels like joining (I probably won't start until someone does), please post in the forum or PM me.

Well someone/team needs to work on this asap! Whos it gonna be?! (Ghostbusters).
I'm busy with school work and two other runs together with Hotarubi. But if no one quickly makes a run out of this I can eventually be there and help out later.

No:)
I bet this reply means you are working on it with cardboard or someone else :D
Unfortunately not, until one hour ago I had never tried TASing this game:D

Really nice find! I tried the same example in level 1-2 for some time and in the end enter the boss room 75 frames faster than the current published run, although precision, lag reduction and glitch abuse can definitely can be a bit faster. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1782688691/Super%20Mario%20Bros%202%20%28U%29%20%28PRG%200%29carpet_trick.fm2

Can one kind movie editor change the last "1" to a "4" in the movie description? Gaining just one frame in level 1 actually isn't possible at all.

I think that by switching to Top Spin after killing Top Man in the boss refights stage (Wily 4) I think that can save time and it would save even more time because I won't have to collect as many refills for the Shadow Blade at the end of this stage.
Then I suppose you've planned to take on the bosses in a different order? Because I can tell here and now that saving time by using Top Spin to defeat the last three bosses, in the current order, is something that even you won't manage:) Edit: After some thoughts about it, did you mayhaps mean to switch to Top Spin after finishing Spark Man instead of Top Man as you said?

I like how you froze for about 5 seconds at the end of Hard Man, kinda bizarre.
That happens when you deal the last blow with Hard Knuckle and you don't have enough space between you and the boss to create a visible knuckle before it hits the boss. There's also a way to freeze forever which might've been an even nicer way to end the demo run above:)

I did give this game a try this summer, but dropped it quickly and never got my progress posted here so I do that now instead. Thanks for the indirect reminder! http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/116909430/Little%20Nemo%20-%20The%20Dream%20Master%20%28U%29.fcm It only plays through a fraction of the first level but I managed to handle the situation with getting the frog a little faster (10 frames at max). I really hope this game is edit-friendly or else I wouldn't bother adding it, unless you feel like playing through the game once again later:) Nevertheless, good luck with the run! I look forward to see it finished.

You might be right about that the y-position that the boss has when it dies doesn't matter in most cases, but if I remember right it at least matters on Needle Man since in that room you fight pretty close to the bottom of the screen. Also I found that the route I suggested probably doesn't work since then you won't have Magnet Missle to take down those flying enemies in the Gemini stage before they've dropped their fire (unless you can kill them with Shadow Blade instead but I haven't tested that)

I have an improved WIP of Top Man and Shadow Man's stages: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1779632381/mega_man_3-Rockman%203%20-%20Dr.%20Wily%20no%20Saigo%21%20%28J%29%20improved%20WIP1.fm2 I saved 30 frames! I did the best I could to luck manipulate Shadow Man and it was not easy.
Looks great! Nice going abusing the fact that the left and right sides of the screen overlaps. The outcome with the manipulation of Shadow Man is still far from perfect, but I take it that you've spent a lot of time making sure that it it can't be better at the given moment, so I won't nag about that anymore. Btw, what is the exact route you're using? I quickly came up with this one, which might contain errors but looks quite good at the first glance: Top - Shadow - Snake (use Shadow Blade on the boss) - Gemini - Needle - Magnet - Hard, Spark Man to be done any time after Shadow Man. This way you only need to collect ammo for Rush Jet in Snake- and Gemini levels and you don't need to collect that much ammo either. Or do you have a better route coming up?

Great job being the first beside myself to beat one of my runs, and this wasn't exactly the one that I thought'd be obsoleted first:) This beats my run both time- and stylewise which can only yield a yes vote!

Just so you know, hotarubi is working on a best ending run, and he's saved ~30 seconds in first two stages. Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fe80f-0tQqY&fmt=18 (Sorry Flygon, it seems you don't get to upload this one.)
Thanks for telling! To drop a secret I can tell that I've also been working on the best ending run (that's how I found the new tricks used in this run). I saw some flaws in his run but also some interesting maneuver that I have to look closer into. How can I contact this guy?

A bit of amusing trivia. Previous run: 44988 rerecords. This run: 44989 rerecords.
Yup, that's the result of copying the previous movie-file, changing the file name and loading the last frame of this run in record mode.
