Sounds great! As for your question, since I have not really played GoldenEye, I will not answer.

I think the description on the movie needs to be corrected. Given where most of the improvement was, it should be saying World 8 TOWER 2, not Castle 2.
Thanks for catching the error!

Finally SD 320x240: Original: http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/3707/original240.png Rec601: http://img825.imageshack.us/img825/7858/rec601240.png http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UUMazn5CA1Y PC.601: http://img833.imageshack.us/img833/9880/pc601240.png http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ru9Z6dgV21I Rec709: http://img705.imageshack.us/img705/3793/rec709240.png http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rKdEzZzCZE0 PC.709: http://img593.imageshack.us/img593/5791/pc709240.png http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wL8WhkBE-oE Note: The screenshots besides original were from flash player at my desktop resolution of 1600x1200. Again I'd say YouTube expects Rec601 for SD resolution as that is the only one with the correct color and brightness. On a side note, again I noticed loss of detail in the YouTube screenshot. I don't think it's due to the resizing to 1600x1200, but more like YouTube processing...

Does Super Smash Brothers Melee have 60 Hz flicker? I also don't get why 3840 FPS. In the end it's still 30 FPS.

Why "XXX, The" instead of "The XXX"? No way to workaround the sorting problem?
The workaround is to use XXX, The. For me, until the sorting problem can be fixed with a different means, I am for XXX, The. I'm used to it, so doesn't look weird to me at all.

Now I see here the problem with the N64 list is. It sorts by name. Both OoTs are called "The Legend of Zelda" where the MM TAS is called "Legend of Zelda, The". So one is sorted under L and the other two under T. I think that should be fixed so that it is the same for Zeldas...
Fixed.

Aktan, can you post the higher-quality HD encodes here too? I know they're on YouTube, but the 30fps limit at the beginning really bugs me, and I would be appreciative if they could be posted here.
The encodes are done, but due to bad timing, my upload now really really sucks. So getting it to Archive.org is becoming a pain. I'm trying to find a solution currently.

They are not going to be in the publication due to a problem of too many encodes in the past. This is why there is a note in the publication text.

I didn't change it, that is the default on the DeDup help file. You guys dont even have a guide for DeDup, but whatever...
That's weird, I see it right here under AVISynth: http://tasvideos.org/EncodingGuide/PreEncoding.html

Why did you change the DeDup line? It should be this:
DeDup(threshold=0.00001, trigger2=100, show=false, dec=true, maxcopies=20, maxdrops=20, log="dup.txt", times="times.txt")
I just noticed you are doing NES games. With NES, there is a problem with MP4Box. You need to add -f 1000 to fix the problem. So basically this:
NHMLTransform.bat -i video_track1.nhml -t times.txt -o video2.nhml -ia audio_track1.nhml -oa audio2.nhml -f 1000

@Aktan For the love of god, could you please take out the sentence, about needing Anti DS mupen, to play back this TAS, out of the submission text before you publish this? You could replace it with "if you have a maoras mask save in mupens save folder you have to delete it before watching this movie." though.
That's the submission text, right? I think it should be MrGrunz who changes that.

I thought the guide was quite step by step, but I may be wrong. As for your problem with NHMLTransform, could you post what exactly you have tried, so I can see what may be wrong? Basically, tell me the exact command you tried.

What do you mean by caught? If you mean they detect a duplicate frame, but encode it anyway with some small amount of data, I guess you are correct. But if you meant the duplicate frame is dropped, then you are incorrect, since it is not. There are other benefits of removing duplicate frames. For example, H.264 has a maximum reference size of 16 frames ahead. If the duplicate frames were left there, then the amount of reference frames is actually smaller. Also while the encoded duplicate frames are quite small, they still do take space. Basically, in general, the dedup encode is smaller because we remove duplicates.

Okay, MrGrunz. I'm about ready to publish. I need for you to tell me which screenshot you want.

So I've done some testing as to what matrix YouTube expects for "Original" mode. Here are the results: Original: http://img823.imageshack.us/img823/8608/originalyw.png Rec601: http://img845.imageshack.us/img845/7549/rec601.png http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UhD-DbWDOPg PC.601: http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/5349/pc601.png http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sDQliswj7gc Rec709: http://img607.imageshack.us/img607/6866/rec709.png http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JVisE3hnIqI PC.709: http://img98.imageshack.us/img98/1596/pc709.png http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o06saTi3e5k Note: The screenshots besides original were from flash player. I'd say YouTube expects Rec709 as that's the only one with the color correct. Next I'll do a test for resolutions 640x480 and under. Basically SD. I'll probably do a screenshot of 320x240.

Like I said in the IRC channel, it's a bit sad that we need to make compromises because we use too cutting edge things. This problem will also make 4:4:4 not really completely full color still.

My take on the flags is this. We don't know if the game designers accounted for the stretch or not. So I'd say keep the flag to make it look like TV, since the game may account for the stretch. Now, some may complain that we don't add the scanlines filter. The thing is, the game developers couldn't have done anything to account for that, while for the stretch, something could be done.

Another note to add is, for YouTube, I don't know if YouTube assumes a different matrix for SD resolutions vs HD resolutions. Usually, for SD, the 601 profile is used, while for HD, it is the 709. While the majority of encodes going to YouTube is HD nowadays, this may not be a problem. [offtopic]Meh to HD YouTube! =p[/offtopic] Edit: Grunt pointed out I switch which matrix was used for SD/HD. Corrected.

How about not cropping the 16 pixels FCEUX does for NTSC NES games? I know for a fact that some games (like Rockman 2) actually has things drawn in these 16 pixels cropped out.

I would say, wait a bit first, since I brought up some points in Grunt's thread.

If you are going to cap it onto TV colors anyway, you should remove the --fullrange parameter in x264 command line also.
