@Aktan Just fyi mupen screws the audio for MM. There will be cracks in there, so you'll have to capture audio directly from the audio plugin. Maybe you know that already since OoT has the same problem, but just to be sure... Oh and any changes in the video plugin will desynch this TAS. So don't even try. Antialiasing has to be done on the encode.
Thanks for the tips, but I already used a different solution for OoT, if you remembered. The cracks issue is not a problem. About the desyncs, I will try a new solution I found out when doing an encode of GoldenEye. It will require even more work than what Mupen already gives me, but it should allow me to play it back with Glide64.

I actually feel more sorry for Hellagelss, as he won't have his run up long... probably due to me taking forever, lol.

Do you Know where to find the Zelda irc? I'm pretty often there. (Not at the moment, though. I have a lot of school stuff to do) A HD encode for youtube would be nice. A bunch of people on tasvideos are dying to finally see the TAS. Can't write too much right now, it's too annoying to write with an IPod.
No idea where it is. Let me know network and channel, and I'll be there.

Is actually anyone encoding the video? Swordless told me he gave the m64 to Aktan a few days ago and according to Swordless Aktan would do a HD encode of the run. As I didn't get any updates since then and no one encoder came to this topic claiming the encode I have the feeling nobody is encoding anything at the moment :/ The video on youtube was encoded by myself because I finally wanted to submit the run. I've actually finished the TAS almost 2 weeks before submitting. As I'm still hoping for an awesome encode (in the best case HD quality), I'm keeping my youtube video of the run unlisted. The sound is pretty bad and at some time at the end of the run you can actually hear me clicking on my PC for almost a minute. The youtube people have been waiting even longer for the run now so a good encode is very important to me within the next few days.
This is weird, either TASVideo forums are screwing up or something else happened. I never got the m64 before you submitted from Swordless, nor did Swordless tell me you wanted an HD encode. I was waiting to get the m64 file and encode a SD encode for YouTube, but then you already did that. Do you want an HD encode for YouTube or for download? Also what is the easiest way to contact you? I perfer IRC, but I can do forum messages if need be.

Changed Lanczos4Resize to Lanczos with taps=2 since 4 is too sharp and introduces a lot of ringing artifacts.

That's because that file was auto made from archive. Someone seem to have deleted the real 512kb and renamed the auto made from 512kb_512kb to 512kb.

Any plans to improve it on PSXjin?

Hmm, thanks for the offer, but when I watch TASes, I watch the RAW for the best quality. Meaning I would still make my own sound file for my personal watching anyway. So thanks but no thanks. =)

Thanks for the help BadPotato. I had not read the thread all the way through, so I had no idea you tried to help FerretFaucet. I guess in the end he didn't use Eternal SPU?

The best sound plugin wasn't used during the encode. There are bound to be sound glitches due to it. Using the best sound plugin causes desync. From my simple test, the desync seemly don't happen often so it may be feasible to re-encode with better sound. Also all lag frames were cut out using the TAS sound plugin during capture, making the movie shorter than it really is. Using the best sound plugin would fix this. I don't think the encoder had tried using the best sound plugin since he probably didn't know about it and the process to fix the desyncs is still somewhat a pain to do. I may do an encode eventually.

It's not needed by the SD guide since the players used usually supports the compression header.

Reconvert them all to FLAC. Aka convert the lossy MP3 to FLAC.

You should have made it a blind test, and have people guessing.

I was going to suggest doing what archive does in their automated process, but I saw they just copy the already made AAC file we send to Archive, lol. Maybe test out the experimental AAC in FFMPEG, though YouTube doesn't like MP4 much anyway. The best solution would probably just include mkvmerge. I don't see any other way right now. Edit: Also if it is meant to be uploaded to YouTube, remember to turn off header compression, or else the video may end up gray. More details here: http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10628

Couple of suggestions on fixing the FMV. 1. As you already suggested, record the FMV parts with TAS GPU, and everything else with P. E. Op. S. and then splice them together. 2. Try to fix the FMV issue. That is, we probably need to talk on IRC since there is a list of things to test. For example, check to see the GPU reported FPS while recording with .kkapture. 3. Try to use Eternal SPU instead as the sync, which will almost guarantee all the sound is correct. There is the problem of desyncing, so it really depends on if you want to learn how to do this and how bad the desyncing is.

Since there was no mention of this, I'll mention it now. There are sound issues (though slightly) with PCSX and SotN. This was fixed in PSXJin. I'm not sure if you knew about this, Mukki, when you made your decision.

[01:45am] Aktan: dada_: can you do me a favor and mention in that thread that multiple pointresizes hurt?
Here I'll show some examples. First picture is point resize to 384x336, and then 768x672. Second picture is directly to 768x672. http://img826.imageshack.us/img826/2291/15then2.png http://img845.imageshack.us/img845/3843/76666934.png It is very obvious that the second picture is better.
