Nice Corneria run. No desynchs, and no mistakes (that I could see, at any rate). In your final movie version, please skip the pre-flight briefing and the pre-flight dialog (both can and *should* be skipped).

Excellent work Frenom. I'm excited that your progress is already up to Dezolis! I think the sandworm fighting was very good. You varied it up to include 3 (or 4) patterns so as to not make it so boring (when you kept Rika at first, then killed her off, then killed Chaz off). I only saw twice when Blizzard could have been invoked but wasn't, and it was right after you switched Chaz to gizan (I believe I remember this from the game though, too. Zan seems to always connect perfectly to combos, but gi and na not so much). I'm not certain if those fights would have been faster with the combo, but I'm sure it would only have been a nominal gain. Same thing with the Demi defend thing. I noticed a couple unoptimized walking patterns in Ladea tower, but again, this would have only saved a few frames. Totally not worth going back over at this point! I'm more excited to see how you handle Dezolis and beyond. I love how you owned the boss on the spaceship with grandcross. Looks like you fixed the desynch before the first Zio fight, and I didn't run into any others in your latest run, so all is well. Keep us updated as usual!

Yep, same thing. Definitely desynched before the actual battle. Sometime early on in the text with Zio before the fight. I had the proper controller settings set and I was using test9c. I haven't yet tried it with 9f. Strange. But the corrections you made up to that point were awesome Frenom. ;)

Nightwulf: thank you so much! I will be putting up a build on a server as it is now very soon, which you and your friends can try (if the other one's really that bad though, it could be a problem from a single client - who knows). I'll also start toying with the source and see if I can fix up a couple error handling issues and chat enhancements, and then maybe implement server game-in-progress listing.

Hey, that worked great for me. I didn't need to turn on the RDRAM setting, and I wasn't even using the same video plugin as you. I loaded up your saved state and there were no desynchs at all. Nice backflips over the fences!

Oh really? Wow I didn't know that. I would have thought it would be full healing because of the difficulty of the Juza fight. Then again I didn't bother to check the levels after the vid. It just seems like it's skippable to me unless it's critical that all the characters need to be full health. Since this is near where Sleepz' run ended, I'm excited to see how the next bit looks. Keep up the good work Frenom!

I compared mine and sleepz versions and when Alys dies im 38 sec ahead. I could have been 48 if I had walked on that Pad. :P
Oh no no, I said it was _good_ that you didn't hit the pad (because your team should all be 100% healed there because of what demi does after the Juza fight.).

Ah, just watched yours Frenom. I think it's definitely better than Sleepz' so far. I laughed out loud when you used crash on the miniboss that came out of Birth Valley. It was perfect! I too noticed a couple of minor path problems (where you make two turns instead of one, which I believe you did twice in Zio's Fort), but overall it's pretty perfect. You also didn't make the mistake of going on the healing pad at the Land Rover facility which Sleepz did. One more possible minor optimization: You created a whole Hewn macro just to use it once near the very end of the cave (forget the cave name, the one with the blobbies that do fusion). Perhaps it would be better to just avoid the last fight where you use it and that way you'd never have to create it. Don't bother going back to redo things though, since I think you're pretty on target for optimum time at the moment.

Below is a link to Sleepz' last PS4 WIP and a couple of his save states. http://snackbox.org/~ap/PS4-sleepz.zip

With this FCEU netplay server, does it communicate all the gameplay data through the server (a la Kaillera) or is the server just a utility that helps players find each other quickly to set up a direct connection (a la ZSNES)?
It is an actual gameplay server. All the input data does go to the server and then to the other clients. It doesn't allow searching for servers or other games at all (although if I had the source, listing in-progress games on the server would be a snap to do). Basically, it is just an ultra-simple, functional server. And for all the popularity of Kaillera, they haven't been able to duplicate a non-buggy, functional gameplay server implementation. I also came up with a way to play NES games "head to head" using two instances of FCEU with no latency at all, and it's a blast. I don't think this would be possible with Kaillera (at least not practical with all the GUI bugginess it exhibits).

*Still* looking for this btw. I know someone here must have it. I have access to a couple of 100mbps servers and I'd like to make at least one of them a dedicated FCE server.

I'm no mario expert or anything, but I'm guessing a much more substantial time savings on the final version based on what I saw in the test run. In fact, I'll go so far as to say that the final time will be closer to 100 min. than to 120. Pure speculation, of course ;) Good luck FODA!

Did any of the texts that FreshFeeling posted help? I didn't look through them all, but maybe one of them lists how to manipulate random attacks.

You don't happen to have a save game after bowser 1 would ya? :) EDIT: Oh, maybe that isn't implemented in mupen yet. In which case nevermind.

Well, it's all good now since nitsuja seems to have fixed the avi output issues. I admit that even if my method of video capturing were accepted here, it would be much more of a hassle to do than using the emulator's built-in functionality.

What i think andypro is thinking of, instead of using an avi output, just load the move like you always do when you are going to watch a movie. Then use a program like fraps or camtasia to capture the screen.
Thank you.

This may seem quite simplistic, but instead of relying on the emu to generate the movie couldn't you just capture the playback? My technique for making a PC video worked really well, and that was just Svid out on vid card to Svid in on capture card. I know it would be nicer to leave the emu movie capturing process in the background without actually having to let it run in realtime, but sometimes things are more trouble than they're worth. My method creates a nice, high bitrate, good resolution NTSC video, without the worry of video or audio desynchs. Anyway, keep working on it though. mupen64 seems to be a solid emulator otherwise.

I will also post and add my support to Sleepz. Please keep up the run! We love it and PS4 is such a fun game to follow along with. If not, maybe get someone else to take over for ya. I am in a state of unrest until I see Dark Force dead! ;D

Looks great Sleepz! Just a question: Isn't there another item in Zio's Fortress that is really important? Maybe a sword for Chaz or something? I seem to remember it being down one of the holes or something. Perhaps you're intentionally skipping it, but I just want to make sure.

Good thought. I actually tried it earlier today with Gens version test 9 and it worked. My guess is that that's the version Sleepz is recording with. :)

Oh, that's just Fireman's beautiful pattern at work. You have to move a bit more than a megaman width away from the left side of the screen, and then just wait til he gets in position. It's pretty nice. All the bosses have very predictable patterns, however I never bothered to learn Elecman's properly since I was getting bored of the game. I'm pretty proud of my self-discovered clone battle strategy too, since for most people that's the hardest fight.

I am also getting a desynch at the same place as the others. I am using a 3 button configuration and am using the same ROM. I'm also using Gens test version 9c. Perhaps you could post the emu you are using to record this movie? That's the only thing I can think of that could be different. Or perhaps some playback settings are odd. Thanks.

Yea, that's sort of the point. I wasn't aiming for speed in the least. The run is minimal damage only.

Vatchern: Yep. My 6 hit video is also glitchless. It's the only way to go on a legitimate console run, imo. :)

Vatchern: Yes there has, actually. Go to GameFAQs and look through the Megaman faqs. There is a guy who has not only beaten the game using only the normal shot, but he's beaten it 5 times with only the normal shot without taking a single hit of damage. He's done no hit runs with weapons around 50 times, according to his "arm cannon only" faq. I'd consider him to be the best Megaman player. Also, if you'd like to see a video of a decent run, you can go to http://www.vortiginous.com/ and download my run. I get hit 6 times (could be better, but still a decent run).
