Sleepz: I'm glad you've chosen this game, it's a great one. I also vote for the fastest dialog speed setting. I can easily read the text at that speed (although I am a bit of a speed reader). Not only that, but as an above poster said, speed is the main concern on any of these runs for most of us. Sandworms are very awesome for exp. I am trying to think of other areas that would be good. Anytime you can do one combo and take out all the enemies straight away would probably be best for speed purposes. Perhaps the robotics facility near the spaceport (sorry I can't remember names too well, it's been a while). Let us know when you have a wip for us to take a look at. I'm cheering you on and will offer advice if I can!

I strongly disagree with this. In my opinion, Kaillera client and server are terrible pieces of software. I think the FCE netplay architecture is quite well designed as well as lightweight, intuitive, and functional. Anyway, I think the FCE server was in version 0.0.3 or something? I hope someone kept the source..

Did anyone grab the source code for the latest version of the FCE netplay server before the project was discontinued and the sourceforge site taken down? I can't find it via Google. Many thanks for the help.

I don't know if this has been mentioned in this thread yet, but I think a very big NES game that hasn't been touched yet is Solar Jetman. This is a great game for NES and, while it may be fairly long and involved, I would wager that a timeattack could be fairly fast. I would be happy to see one of you experienced timeattack makers take this game on. And win!

The run is really good (the part I can see). The fmv seems to screw up right after you get out of Norfair and get back to Brinstar on your way to Kraid's Lair. It de-synchs or something, I dunno. Do you suppose the rom I have is bad?

Are you submitting your most recent version to Bisquit? Or can you post the .fmv here? I'd love to see it :)

Heh, you must be playing easy mode :p It doubles the damage bosses take. The only < 3 hits in the game are Metal on Metal man (end game), and Heat on Wood (fully charged).

I would *LOVE* to see a speed run of Crystalis. I am pretty sure there is no way around leveling up to kill the bosses, but in a speed run, leveling up shouldn't really look that tedious. It wouldn't take very long with optimized movements. Solar Jetman is a great game as well. The speed run I'm pushing for is Street Fighter: 2010 for NES. It was a semi-tough game for nes, but the challenge was elegant and non-frustrating. Anyway, I would urge you to try a Crystalis run. You can do it!

Hey guys: sdkess is indeed a great gamer. He did that run on a console NES. He and I were discussing beating the game with no damage, however there is one spot (and only one) that you must get hurt in the actual game: when the final bosses head comes off and rolls away. There IS, however, a known way around this with an emu. If you use the glitch that allows you to slash many times in one jump (hold down and slash tons), you are able to kill the head before it hits you. Sdkess did this on an emu only once, so I can imagine a superplay run it would be very feasable to do with some slowdown. Good luck with optimizing your run. The swish blades, as I call them (the jumping weapon), is indeed the best weapon to use on bosses for a fast time.

Bisquit: Fantastic. I have had this problem with so many games. Can't tell you how thrilled I am that a simple change in the header makes them work :)

Well, I dunno if that's the case, but I'll look into it. The thing is that these roms run fine in FCEU..

Hi. New to the forum. Thanks bisquit, blip, and everyone else here that works to make this cool emu stuff available to us all. I have a question about the new Blaster Master movie (as well as at least half a dozen other movies on bisquit's site). When I try to open the rom, I get a dialog that says something to the effect of, "This is maybe illegal image, Famtasia can't run this game." So.. am I out of luck? Surely others have run into this. I have version 5.1 of the emulator, so any advice would be appreciated. Note: If you suspect this has anything to do with the rom, then please be discrete in your answer as I am NOT asking for roms.
