Cool stuff, but wouldn't sidehopping be ultimately faster than walking backwards, if not for the speed (while I don't know if it's faster than walking backwards, it sure looks that way), then for the fact that you wouldn't have to waste as much time facing the right direction since you can sidehop on 2 directions?

Sure, Bisq and co. will be happy to add Mame videos, but first we need a rerecording Mame. And none exists yet.

First they need to make a build of MAME with rerecording and whatnot, the basic record features for the default version suck ass as you can only record from the instant you load the ROM and if you want to record anything else whatsoever with that particular game, you need quit and reload it.

"Also, it appears as though there is no way to get to the extra old dude's hut by the water palace. If anyone can help me confirm this, I would be grateful." FAQs are your friend. Press Up when you're on the map on top of Gateway Of Eternal Storms. Leads you to a flying stage, an interesting stage called Ship To Nowhere where you need to cling on to the box in the middle of the boat to avoid being washed into the sea when the waves strike over the boat, and then to the geezer's hut where you get an extra max life point. Pretty useless in a TAS.

...could you people PLEASE save the "does not work" comments for the general forum or something? I'd prefer to actually have some comments on the run itself here.

Erm, why exactly do you wait until all vegetables are infected in one of the city stages (or that's what I assume is happening, as the number of vegetables you need to capture slowly goes down), and why don't you enter one of the doors that appears a few stages later?

Are you sure you didn't get the newest version of it (dated 1st June)? I got it to work fine with it.

Yes vote appreciated, although it's been published already. And yeah, I asked if people found that too repetitive earlier, but nobody said anything so I decided to go for it. Besides high combo counts, quick boss kills and ridiculous score make up for the repetitiveness.

Yeah, of all the people, I got the exact same error and thought it was because I hadn't defragged in a while and spent hours on trying to fix it, just like the last time. Turned out that the H264 codec was outdated, get today's build from http://www.free-codecs.com/FFDShow_download.htm . [Edited by Bisqwit] Made the solution a little easier to spot.

While it's been already explained, winning that and another battle accomplishes nothing: even if you manage to win despite the odds that hint that you should go and take a dive willingly, you still get a faceful of Ki, lose regardless and can't do anything about it. Plus even if you could win, it'd still take far longer than losing.

As long as one of you isn't named Deacon Frost, it's OK.

I did it in 1:39 on Easy while collecting a lot of items without purposefully trying to do it that fast. Would be pretty boring to watch that way too. Wonder if anyone's gonna take this game up on SDA and possibly try to utilize divekick abuse if their fingers are that fast.

Oh well, might as well take another shot at plugging Guardians. It's a surprisingly deep sidescrolling arcade-only fighter made by Banpresto with 8 unique characters, each with 4 different basic chains (why the hell are so many scrolling fighters so lacking in that respect? That's the thing you're gonna be seeing the most in the game), 5+ special attacks, supers, recovery attacks, dashes in all directions, etc. It could use some more animation and better sound, though. But as it is, it's pretty damned fun and allows you to pull off ridiculously long combos for a game of that genre.

Difficult parts...well, in relation to its lenght, I spend quite a few days with the autoscrolling stage since I couldn't really come up with a good idea to make it interesting after my main plan failed. Other than that, the 2 stairfights in Muscle Tower weren't fun, as the height difference makes it hard to see all the enemies at any given time, and the railings block thrown grenades from view. Few of the ! fights in the last stage were more or less annoying too, as the screens they take place in have large buildings in them, and if you screw up, you might end up with an enemy stuck on top of one of them with no way to reach them, but you have to kill'em to spawn the next set of enemies or advance further in the stage, leaving waiting there for them to kindly hop down as your only option. The pirate robot and Akuman were also pains in the ass, as their appearance and behaviour gave me a brainfart in regards of what sorts of juggle physics they'd follow: I initially though the robot pirate was too heavy to be juggled and couldn't be knocked down like most other mech bosses can't, and I thought Akuman would just air recover if I tried to juggle him the normal way. Shows what I knew.

For the Ki bar depletion, there's 3 reasons: first being the fact that using the special freezes all action at the end, which prolongs the fight. Second being the fact that I gain a level in about 5 hits at 70-90 hits, which makes it hard to waste them all consistenly. Third being the fact that if you kill the boss with the first hit of the special or so, it delays the end of the stage, as I'm pretty sure you can't get an "Area complete!" before the boss hits the ground. As for the VS fights, if you mean smacking them around after knocking them down with a Ki blast, well, you simply can't, as they become invincible until they hit the ground. Other than that, I tried to hit them as often as possible, but more often that not, they end up being offscreen for a good while if I don't knock them down at the end, and that's usually not to my best interests damagewise. As for the robot beatdown, I was trying to accomplish my original idea of juggling enemies while waiting for the next ! area, but that didn't work out too well, mainly because the plane's momentum seems to carry over to them, so they end up being pushed left and off the screen if you don't use the special to reset their momentum. It was more or less to increase my already-ridiculous score.

Of course it is. Sexual innuendo is always funny, don't you know that?

Kickass stuff, but why didn't you stick Yoshi's tongue up Bowser's ass after you beat his first form? No better comedy than that.

And there, done at last. No idea when I'm gonna do a better version of it, sometime in the distant future possibly. Or maybe by some miracle it ends up on the site and someone else can improve on it if they want. Who knows.

Meh, since they all were single battles, I though I might as well get them done too. This brings the count to 2 sidescrolling stages and 1 VS battle.

And seeing as the next 2 stages were only boss fights, I thought I'd might as well do them too. That leaves 2 sidescrolling stages, 1 boss-only stage and 4 VS fights.

There, got the Red Ribbon Base stages done at last. I skipped over one fight that's supposed to be more or less unskipable with Goku.

I've gotten the first few mandatory fights done on the autoscrolling stage, but I can't really think of many interesting things to do there. Been kinda absorbed into playing other games.
