I agree with feos. Great job with the maps, those are definitely worth posting to VGMaps. Maybe stich the images together as complete levels, too?

In any case: This, DTC5, was easily one of the best TAS events ever (AGDQ tasbot sessions are arguably the best ones ever). All of you should be happy and proud of yourselves. Mothrayas did excellent job on every aspect of the contest. All teams did really well. The ghost comparison encode was best of its kind ever. This entity as a whole is remarkable. Everything else is just little details that don't matter much. Isn't there a wiki page that chronicles the history of tasing? The glorious tale of DTC5 is an obvious entry to be added to the canon.

Link to video Was reminded by the news about the Nethack bot ascension. This bot plays Doom. As would be expected, it already does some stuff much more effectively than a human player. The bad thing is, it seems to be obsessive–compulsive.

I agree with Spikestuff, Samsara, Tangent and ars>9000.
There are some published movies where I have contributed more than here without being included as an author. Feels a bit strange. It is good that many players are listed, which should be the case more often, because many times people have contributed very much without recording actual input. However, it feels like the authorship of this movie is already so fuzzy that adding or removing an author seems to make no difference. Feels a bit strange. Strange, stupid and uncontrolled things happen to the authorship in obsoletions too, where the latest run may have learned a lot from the multitude of previous runs, but does not include any of the previous authors as equal contributors, which they technically often are. Wouldn't it be much simpler to just put "TASVideos" or "TASVideos community" or "DTC5" or "DTC" as the author? Maybe use something like this from now on:
Author: DTC#
Winning team: XXX
All participants of the contest: x, y, z...
This would mean that anyone participating in a future contest would also automatically get recognised as a contributor. This would be fair, because even the most retarded piece of input contributes by testing an alternative strategy. I would not feel good being listed as an author, if everyone is not included. It is all teamwork masqueraded as a contest anyway.

The author often lists known improvements at the end of the submission message. There are also game specific threads that anyone interested in tasing a game should read anyway. I'm not quite sure I understand the benefit of a global list. Well, okay, it might encourage somebody to be able to browse a simple page listing publications with notable and specific known improvements. I think most of the improvements I know are too obvious and general to be worth mentioning: better subpixel optimization, better RNG manipulation, just use more rerecords, use even more rerecords, use Aglar, etc.

I like how the bot identified unknown items by remembering their prices seen at shops, like a savant.

Sorry for not having time to read the whole conversation. A random idea popped into my head anyway, so I'll share it. Expert gurus can see whether it goes anywhere or not: Maybe there could be a new rule for board games: It needs to look different than what an actual game on a real board would look like. In other words, if it just looks like a simulation of an ordinary game and there is nothing else, it is not accepted. It needs to look different or do something different than just move pieces and end. This might solve a chunk of cases while being a relatively well defined concept. Maybe do something like that? No need for new tier, because runs that are more than simulations of board game matches should have enough interesting qualities that they fit into the current tiers. I don't know. Good luck!

Wow, thank you, but I already submitted Hugo 2½. TAS of the year and a half. I believe master feos would be much better at solving the spike problem with his Lua scripting ingenuity. Anoobis is still learning to print "Hello, world!" in Lua.

Thank you for the tip, товарищ! ^__^ "Optimal" is a word I learned in 1999 while lurking on a Doom speedrunning forum. I have been using the word ever since. It is also a part of TASVideos' standard glossary together with "perfect" and "masterjun" as can be verified by searching: http://tasvideos.org/Search.html?key=optimal&subs=1 (462 results) http://tasvideos.org/Search.html?key=perfect&subs=1 (662 results) http://tasvideos.org/Search.html?key=masterjun&subs=1 (5884564639 results) By the way, awesome to see progress on Lost Vikings! With speed like that those guys must be sweating buckets under the beards, especially the fatty one who looks like my mother! --------- Edit:

Hi, ars4326! I saw the latest WIP encode. Seems flawless to me. Nice little jump tricks you've got there. I am once again impressed by your big and complex game choice!

Maybe Anty-Lemon's trick has some future use: User movie #20502835493839544 It is triggered by pausing during screen transitions. It messes up the screen scrolling and allows OOB in almost every room.

Hard to say from just 3 votes.
I feel like I climbed a mountain of redundant mouse clicks and I feel like a rocket scientist and I feel like I wasted my time, but I added a vote. Was reminded again that the rating interface sucks. I guess that is one of the reasons there are so few votes in general. If the rating system gets simplified, I will rate every movie that I watch. Single click is all it requires on other sites. Rating is fun on other sites, but here it is work.

Okay, HYPE it is then! Does MMM mean that Meshuggah did your whole TAS? Because we might as well be called AAA. So, it's Meshuggah vs. Aglar? OMG? Our Anty-Lemon the amazing rookie found a game breaking glitch on the first day! :O I wonder how many others have found the glitch... This is soooooo exciting! ^__^

Any developer that does this kind of thing should be praised and all runs like that should be accepted to the site. I hope this becomes a trend.

I would like to offer 100 player points to anyone who makes a good run for one of these games: * Dune II (Genesis or DOS version) * Monster World IV Can I do this? Can I give my own player points in exchange for runs that I would like to see?

Here is a route plan, if you want to win a trophy or two in 2016: Do not submit your runs during 2015! Just save your finished products and submit all of them next year to easily surpass others in the number of runs. If you want to play it safe, skip two years and submit everything on the third year. This would pretty much guarantee a trophy every three years. I heard that's what they did in the Soviet Union.

Hi, JorWat25! I think this is a very good game to learn tasing. I also think that any game choice is good as long as you enjoy tasing it. The run looks good so far. I didn't spot any obvious mistakes. The animation is quite slow, so I assume throwing the box a couple of times is slower than just carrying it?

Same as mklip2001, I played this game as a kid on PC. It has memorable athmosphere and smooth gameplay. Nice to see the game tased in such a precise manner. Yes-vote!
