Real life savestates are problematic because of our brains. Should the savestate include the current brain state of the user? If the answer is yes, then people would just repeat the same action over and over again after loading a savestate. That's because they could have no memories of the failed attempts. What if the answer is no, so that we could load a savestate without losing our "future memories"? The problem is, it would cause the loaded savestate to be inaccurate copy of a world state. This might not necessarily lead to desync, but it would certainly be cheating. Playing the movie back would look strange from the electroencephalography point of view. Someone dodging raindrops means she's got brains that change their state spontaneously, faster than physically possible. Also, there would exist no causal history that lead to the obscure dance preformance, because it is the failed attempts in the alternative future scenarios that caused the succesfull dodging. I'm not saying it's impossible. It's just that the tool-user can't be part of the world that is recorded. You'd have to let someone else control you. Also, some form of determinism might be required to avoid desyncing movies. By the way, I believe the difficulty of dodging raindrops would equal the difficulty of completing SMB in 4:59. (But that depends on how hard it is raining and how fat you are.)

I thought the 35 second time attack was the fastest thing I ever saw, here goes a 34 second one. amazing!
A game called Clue for Genesis (and SNES) can be completed even faster, but I think it's not worth publishing unless there's a code to access some suitless mode or something. I guess there are not many other games that can be completed faster than Monopoly. (Beware, here's the Clue thread: http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2477)

Why the real life doesn't have savestates, slowdown , re-recording ? :'< *Sobs*
It's just good that we don't have those tools here. People would just ZIP through everything and hurt themselves.

I'll help cleaning the submission queue by cancelling this submission. People are not interested in it and it's not thoroughly optimized anyway.

I've found a serious improvement. Many levels need to be redone. I'll probably never get this movie finished.

I saw that when you entered the levels, you hit the B-button rapidly (B-B-B-B-B-B) instead of pressing B just once at the earliest possible frame (---------B). You may have lost a couple of easy frames because of that, am I right? Or did I miss something? Anyway, this may be my favorite DKC movie. Very funny stuff. Yeah vote! :)

Suggestion: List movies by the "amount of input". (Measured in the actual button presses or active frames.)

Heh, I really have no idea what the name of that character is. In any case, this is my FINAL Dark Castlevania submission, trust me! :)

Now that you asked, I'll confues you. Jumping forward is only slightly slower than stop-walking. I can be 8 frames faster at the switch by stop-walking, but my position will be different. Then I jump to the rope and grab it on a slighlty different height. Notice that to get through the upcoming wall, Link must be positioned very precisely on the rope. (Any lower or higher would cause him/her come crashing down.) Let's see... Oh damn, Link refuses to go through the wall unless I adjust his/her height by doing some extra super movements at the switch or on the rope, thus (inevitably) losing more than 8 frames. It turned out that making those jumps to the switch gets Link to the correct position. Any other way of moving is slower because Link moves so badly. In other words: The unit of climbing is different than the unit of grabbing. Dark Castle requires frame precise movement even when played in real time. The thing is that the animation is not frame precise. Moving has never been this hard in a video game.

I have found a way to improve this movie. Unfortunately, I have also noticed that this game may be a bit racistic (look closely at the drunken "Black Knight"). I'm not sure what to think about this game/movie now.

In reality, this game is much harder than what it looks in the movie. I've tried to play it a couple of times and always lost patience after few rooms. Well played, Y-vote.

Oh, I have forgotten to vote again! I've watched this movie a long time ago. It doesn't look bad. Y-vote.

There's a dungeon under the castle where you can use morningstar. It's awesome weapon! :D While visiting Dark Castle, two strange things happened to me: 1) I died at the very same moment when the flying monkey creature caught me. Result: I duplicated! The first half experienced the ordinary dying animation and the other was carried away by the creature. The castle must be possessed by dark quantum mechanics... 2) I was slashing my keyboard randomly in the room of the Black Knight. Suddenly, I felt felt how my inventory filled itself with various items: the morningstar, the key and the shield. Quantum mechanics, again! Too bad you can't jump with the morningstar. (Nobody can!) Recording was not on when these things happened. I have failed to repeat them. They are probably useless...

Heh, the guy climbs ladders faster than he falls. I also noticed that it is possible to die in the end while completing the game, so controller input can end pretty early. Stupid game. I'd say play it on hard difficulty. :)

Oh dear, I seem to have found a way to get this under 1 minute. :) Anyway, I'd better not cancel this submission yet, just in case... Edit: I managed to improve it by 109 frames. Still not under 1 minute. Damn. I'll cancel this submission now.

Sorry for repeating myself over and over again. That's just because I'm fighting against myself and winning constantly. :)

Hecate Enthroned is great, thanks to kyrsimys for the hint. Nobody mentioned these great bands yet: Ulver (ultra-athmospheric) Zyklon-B (ultra-nihilistic) Zyklon (ultra-fast) Oh, so sad nacht-musik. :)

The day's best fictive science fiction: Mouse advance! Mouse advance: Clicking the mouse (in the emulator) advances a gametic and makes the cursor (in the game) move to the clicked direction as fast as possible. Hey, how fast can mouse cursor move? Is infinite sensitivity possible?
