My grandfather used to play chess through the mail with a friend, one move at a time. It would be cool to watch a 1-stock 2 player versus done by two people in the same manner (one frame at a time). Maybe have a 3rd person to take the input from both people so neither player can know what the other is doing.
hmm, that's an interesting idea smash in slow motion, but with more strategy and mindgames involved

nope, that's how buffer works, one input per frame because you're using the start menu frames as your frame to release A in reality, you lose frames from hitting start in between jumps edit: lol, this would make the insane flying glitch even more insane

will this work for side BLJs cuz you have to wait a frame to fall down a step?

so i was working on a tas of a Smash Bros. combo for a couple hours, and when i finished, i meant to click "start movie playback", but i clicked "start movie recording". i then clicked on my combo, thinking it was in the playback screen, but it overwrote all of my work is there any way to get it back? ps. i still have the savestates, and the original savestate that i recorded from, because it overwrote it as beginning from the start so basically, the .m64 file got saved over by a 2 second long video recorded from the start of the emulation any help or advice would be very appreciated

iirc, the most current version (aka 1.1) is preferred.
Meepers and I use 1.0, that's the one to go for.
ok, so i actually should use 1.0? i'll probably need a lot of help with the scoring system how come sometimes you get 2 points for a single kill and some times you get only 1? and how come points accumulate far after you kill some enemies in groups?

Most disappointing run for the most anticipated N64 game. Sorry. Your goal choice was quite poor. Fastest time for a rail shooter is really not the best; and you don't even get the fastest time. Most of the bosses could have been improved, I think it was tested by the SDA runner that boosting without moving left, right, up, or down is fastest, and you also had the option of ending input earlier, just before shooting out of Venom, but instead used up all your bombs and shot at James McCloud. You say you go for entertainment, but the score oriented run is vastly more entertaining (as shown by meepers' and nangosan's WIPs) because they show way more explosions, and demonstrates superhuman playing that a human player could never accomplish. Your only interesting stage was Area 6, and even that could be better. You also miss a lot of enemies, which looks sloppy. For these reasons, plus the fact that you use a bad ROM and started from a savestate, makes me vote no.
so if i was to do a better run, i should go for most points, and optimize the bosses? thanks for the constructive criticism, this being my first run, i didnt expect it to be well received. well, i guess it's back to the drawing board for me. :) do any of you guys know which route is the most entertaining / has the most enemies? and just to confirm, killing multiple enemies gets you extra points, but could someone tell me how many or if it depends? thanks for commenting even though it was, ahem, a below average TAS edit: ill make sure to start from the beginning on a good dump rom next time!!! ps. should i get version 1.0 or 1.1? or does it make a difference?

do you mean a bad dump rom? cuz i couldn't find a good dump one from the site i get my other roms, ands its very reliable for them oh ok, ill upload it asap edit: http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=525acfb874f63267c2b435915e8821d7d947dbb1463265fe5621d66e282a0ee8

I hope your Corneria segment has at least 374 points. I'm very very interested in seeing this run. Please upload the savestate as soon as you can. also I'm in bellevue :3 hi
i kill a lot of enemies, but only use 3 charge shots, one one corneria, zoness, and andross eyes, so my total isnt as high because i get no bonuses for "multi-kills" i also boost by some enemies before they crash and don't get points. :( my run is mainly for entertainment and fast speed for the route, not maximum points and stuff also, where should i upload the savestate to? edit:

I think he didn't mean highest speed to beat the game, but highest speed to beat the hardest route in the game (Red Line). If you wanted to beat the fastest route, you'd be on a completely different path (starting with beating a different boss in Corneria, then taking the warp route in the Asteroid Belt. One thing I just noticed on the ROM title which could be the problem - [f1]? So I take it this isn't the good dump (which would be [!])? Edit: Yeah, it's a "Fixed" ROM, according to the f1 code. Wonder how it's "fixed"?
yeah, something's wrong with the rom and starting from the start of the emulation, maybe its just mine, but i got it from the same site where i get my other roms which are fine i also noticed that if you speed the game up, but then slow it down to regular speed at certain places, the characters voices stay at a higher pitch and i couldnt find a way to reverse it. maybe its my audio plugin idk

okay, sorry guys, this is my first time doing this so I know there are a lot of mistakes. i couldn't start the movie from power on because the video would desync for some reason (rom is a bad dump maybe) sorry about the typing errors, I did not meant fastest possible speed also, is the savestate file the .st file because i started the movie right after the beginning logo, but i didnt make a savestate

hey everybody, when i play any game using the tas input, up, down, left, and right work, but my diagonals dont work. instead of being up/left, the input shows and moves down/right, so basically the opposite. this is especially annoying when im recording, but not tasing if anyone can help me it would be really appreciated. thanks in advance
