Heh, "painting"? But yeah, you're right, I'm pretty sure you do need the pumpkin's small size to get to a water switch to open up Rusty Bucket Bay. And the walrus is the only transformation that isn't needed for anything in Gruntilda's Lair! If you skip the walrus, you have to skip Wozza's jiggy, the sled race jiggy, and possibly also the speed shoes version of the sled race because I think you need to do the walrus sled race first for that. What else have I forgotten?

And I think everyone else is overestimating how much time you can save, considering how many forced waits there are in the game.

That may be true... It's just that this game has such dedicated speedrunners that who knows what they could do? I think it would be good to wait a few months to see if somebody stumbles on more time-saving stuff (and to fix emulation problems like that menu!), but I won't mind if someone tries to make a run now. Just realize it'll be nearly five hours long!

Strange, I thought the bee got a lot of jiggies... I was thinking of cutting out the walrus, although that only saves 15 tokens. It would be hard to determine how much time you lose for each jiggy, though, since it's not like Super Mario 64 where you exit the level after each one. You want to plan them out on a route that includes all the other items you intend to get, and some jiggies have several steps to getting them that you need to add up.

Carrying bombs doesn't slow you down, although they can cause lag, so getting out the bomb early may have been a mistake if I was going for real time. (I was more concerned about using the time during which Bomberman stands around after falling a large distance to get out the bomb.) And I'm not sure that I couldn't have gotten 2-3's gold cards in one go, since I was very close to the target time at the end, but I don't feel like trying for it until the final run. There should be at least one other level where I can do that, though, since Marshmallow got all 5 cards in 6-3 in one pass just playing normally...

Okay! I'll take a break and continue later! (I think it's going to be a looong break) But I'd like to do run of some other game but, I don't know which. I first thought about some Rockman but, I came to a decision that I could never beat those records. Could you tell me some fun games to do a TAS??
Really? Rockman? You know, there are four Rockman games for Game Boy that haven't had a finished movie yet.

Hmm, now that you mention it, if you skip a transformation, you'll get to skip both the puzzle pieces you need it for and the Mumbo magic tokens you need to do the transformation in the first place. Which transformation would be most worth skipping?

I got those other three cards. http://www.filespace.org/BagOfMagicFood/BOMBERMAN64U_USA.zip But there are probably ways to improve it by killing enemies so that I'm not waiting for bombs as often.

Hmm, it might be possible to speed that fight up a little by killing the fishy while it's in the bubble phase. But that means throwing four pumped bombs at it with only one log on which to move around, and I didn't want to strain my brain too much on this test run, so I went ahead and got two cards on 3-1. http://www.filespace.org/BagOfMagicFood/BOMBERMAN64U_USA.zip

Why did you give up on this idea so quickly?
Well, I submitted a run of it. But, I don't know. I can see the point that it seems like way too convenient a bug, it's something that would obviously be in use constantly instead of only in certain situations, and it doesn't break the game as much as in something like Zelda II so it's really not that drastically different anyway. Plus, the SNES version has enough extra delays to cancel out the time gained, so the resulting time won't be that impressive either.
What about the movement trick in Legend O'. Zeldordorf 3?

Maybe a Witch Switch piece, or a Jinjo piece if too many Jinjos are too far out of the way.

Wait, are you talking about SEEING the secrets in Mumbo's picture at the end, or actually GETTING all of them? 94-99 puzzle pieces will let you beat the final boss, but Mumbo refuses to show you the pictures in the ending. 100 makes him show them. To actually get the secret items, I think you just have to be able to punch in the codes, then visit the places where they appear. But the items are worthless anyway, since that link to the second game never came about. And I still think we should do any% before 100%. 100% just seems like the easy way out to me. Save+quit abuse might not work out, though, since you probably have to sit through the Game Over movie once just like all the other movies. If you have enough lives, you might be able to settle for death abuse to warp around a few times, but you'll have to drown or get hurt a lot.
