Every media player in the universe supports avi, whether we like that or not (being it a microsoft format and all...), but only a few support ogm and mkv (in some cases the player "supports" them, but not very well).
So then all those other media players need an update. :)

Please, it's a Planar Movement Sensor! I won't have you calling it the wrong name!

That wasn't so bad. http://www.filespace.org/BagOfMagicFood/Mega_Man_4_U.zip (now with ToadMan) I don't have a solid plan for BrightMan yet, though. Ring Boomerang beats the gumball machines in only 6 hits, and any of the special weapons might be good for hitting the enemies earlier, but I don't know if it's worth switching. I'll obviously want to use the Rush Coil trick for the first platform section, although I don't know how soon I should switch back. And it turns out that it's actually slower to fight BrightMan with Rain Flush than with the ol' Meggy Bustor, so I may not get around to using Rain Flush at all. I might just use all my Pharaoh Shot energy on BrightMan, since it charges up faster.

Well, ToadMan's level is almost done, and I think it's turning out all right. I just need to figure out how to time all my Ring Boomerang hits on ToadMan. See, he jumps whenever I press the B button, so I can try to manipulate his jump timing so that he's not as high when his invulnerability wears off.

Theres a glitch to get the Rushjet after defeating shadow man.
Don't forget, though, that this glitch starts you out with zero energy in the Rush form you're not supposed to have, so you'd need to pick up a refill right away, and that probably wouldn't last long enough in most situations to be useful.

I think that in these cases, the faster horizontal movement (sliding) outweighs the gain of the predictive jump.
I haven't tested it in this game, but I know that starting with the third Game Boy game, you can save a frame by clearing a wall with your smallest jump rather than sliding straight over. It's worth trying, as well as different methods for propelling past the bottom corners of those walls as fast as possible. I was also wondering if you could use a jump to save time after beating ProtoMan. When he opens the barrier, you want to be falling through it at maximum speed, right? So could you take a jump ahead of time so you just barely avoid landing on the barrier and hit the screen transition earlier?

Seeing as I run out of Magnet I either have to get a refill or change weapons. I decided to change weapons.
It probably wouldn't hurt to test refilling the weapon instead if you haven't already. The menu is pretty slow in this game, isn't it? As for the route, I think I can see the reasoning behind the previous one--Magnet Missile is more useful to pick up than Top Spin; two bodies for GeminiMan means two targets, and as one body he doesn't move in tricky ways, so he's easy to hit rapidly--but I imagine there's a lot more in-level stuff to consider than I can think of right now, so feel free to try different plans.

I guess where they're coming from is that you're supposed to be watching a complete quest through a game, and committing suicide to warp somewhere else probably wouldn't make too much sense in a real life quest.

And I don't think it would be so bad if only two levels had the bonus. Hey, it's something special to show off, right? You can just try for as close to a pacifist run as possible.

I noticed that if you pause the game it resets you from invurnurability state to normal state. Thus, to get that far, I began to walk on the lava and paused it while I was on the lava, but still in the hit box of an enemey on the ledge. Even this didn't give me enough time to safely reach the ledge on the right. You can't get hit by a bullet mid-lava to extend your invulnurability time (even by pausing) because if you are in a bullet's hit box but invulnurabable the bullet will disappear. Thus it is impossible to pause the game while getting hit by a bullet to reset your invurnurability buffer because the bullet will disappear before you pause it.
And I suppose it doesn't work to pause just before the bullet enters your hitbox because you'll immediately fall into the lava when you unpause, right?

Yeah, I'd really like to see a completed run for this game. A run for each character would be even better, but just one is fine for now.

Actually, I just found a way to improve it by another 11 frames, but I think I'll hold off on updating until I finish ToadMan.

Yeah, let's not take too many risks near the end of a 5-hour game.

I might have guessed, considering that he already had all the weapons in that video. That Super Arrow usage is really great, though. That's the way to do it.

Oh sorry, I updated it one more time to save 3 frames... Okay, this time I'm really going to move on to ToadMan.

I just noticed a mistake or two near the end of the level, so now I seem to be 5 frames faster: http://www.filespace.org/BagOfMagicFood/Mega_Man_4_U.zip

I started a new run that currently has PharaohMan and RingMan beaten, since I still find it very unlikely that a run starting with ToadMan can save any more time. Here it is: http://www.filespace.org/BagOfMagicFood/Mega_Man_4_U.zip

You can play as Jake, Elwood, or both at once (2 players), though I don't think there's any special advantage in playing as one or the other or both.

Oh yeah, saving energy by jumping. Didn't someone suggest that for the Rush Jet in Mega Rock Man 3?
