Heh, it'd be cool if you could get emulators to transfer RAM over like that.

Yeah, because nobody pays attention to WIPs, but everybody pays attention to submitted movies that are obvious candidates for rejection, right?

Or at least manage to pull them all off in the same run.

I have a hunch it might be a variable that's not wiped when resetting the system, like the experience in Swordmaster or the settings in Tetris Attack (? or whatever that game was called). Anything else is just... too weird.
See, I messed around with it a bit by stopping the movie at different times and playing on myself. First I tried stopping it just before the battle started and playing the whole thing myself. When I finished, I went on to the next level like normal. So then I tried stopping the movie as the boss was exploding, but there was still time for me to move around aimlessly before the victory song. When I did that, the game still skipped the levels. So I think it's something to do with how the battle was fought. My first guess was that it was triggered by using Ko alone throughout the entire battle, since when I played, I had to switch characters to make it easier. But that might be wrong.

The only advantage I can see in doing FireMan first is having the Fire Storm for CutMan's stage, and it doesn't look like as big a time-saver compared to using the Ice Slasher and Magnet Beam to take shortcuts in FireMan's stage. Well, I guess if you do BombMan second, then you'll be able to use Hyper Bombs on GutsMan, which is nice if you can aim them well and hit Select at just the right time. I usually can't, which is why I should either get more practice or stay out of this topic.

I was actually using Up+Down combined with a horizontal direction in my speedruns to get MegaRockMan to "pop off" ladders so he could start moving right away. Otherwise I would have to time the A-button jump to the exact frame to avoid the sticky starting steps.

Right, right, because we're going by the in-game item completion meter.

Oh, you started with Fire Man. Fire Man is a hard one to start with. Maybe start on an easy one and practice. Or maybe you do not want to get good at this game. That is okay.

Yeah, I can't figure out how he got the game to skip those levels either. Did he activate a rare glitch by beating the boss with only the mouse?
