Yeah, but he always uses the wand at the very first frame possible! Isn't that neat?

Well, the gap you make the video with should depend on how it's defined by the game. Figure out how many pixels it is, and then find an image that fits.

Using Pokemon as an acceptance backdoor for every TAS that's also very long and boring doesn't sound convincing.
But it would be nice to at least appear to have a consistent threshold of boredom when it comes to deciding publication.

Also, each game treats the gap differently. Some games don't even leave a gap at all.
Right, whatever technique you use would need some room for customization, and you'd have to make sure to only run it on the sections of the game that actually treat the entire DS as one tall playing field.

You can make pushable ice blocks, but only if you start from a wall, make a platform two tiles long, and then remove the other ice block? Why not just make ice blocks? That's the kind of thing that would really annoy me in a puzzle game.
Hm, I suppose that does get old. I remember one comment on a video saying that if you could just make ice blocks in front of you, it would be more like a side-view Kickle Cubicle style game, with lots of quick block-pushing action. But I guess they wanted to go for a Lode Runner feel with the magic wand instead. (Hey, there's an idea! Let's make a Lode Runner speedrun!)

Although it's "just a puzzle game", isn't it very interesting to see all the perfect solutions deciphered right in front of you?
Yes, although sometimes as I watch Dana go, I get a sense of "Why doesn't he just...?" that could have been put to rest if I were proactive enough to make a savestate at the beginning of each level and try my idea, only to find out why it doesn't work. Darn puzzle games where it's easy to forget the rules! Darn ice that sticks to walls!

If characters can pass in or out of the empty space quickly, and the screen can scroll up or down to show that area at a moment's notice, then I can't imagine that it wouldn't be drawn somewhere. I'm thinking you could at least make some kind of camera hack that moves the viewpoint up or down far enough each frame, records that now-visible space, and fills it into the middle of the regular video. Although I wonder if some horizontally-scrolling levels didn't bother putting background in the middle...

I've switched back and forth a few times. That's why I like having both options.

Hey, has anybody discussed making a movie of the secret levels 11 through 15 in this game? Wait a few minutes after the game's regular ending to find out how to unlock them.

I'm with Cheezwizz on this one. I didn't think this site was exclusively for sufferers of attention deficit disorder. I find it cool enough to see a good game completed without a single mistake or hesitation.

I think the changes were made on purpose because the washing machine doesn't have hands or feet. I noticed it also can't put on the wading boots or the running shoes. Wading boots aren't a problem because the washer isn't hurt by hazardous floors anyway, but the speed shoes are needed for a couple of Jiggies at least, so Mumbo was probably warning you about that too.

And is there any reason why input ends at touching the axe, rather than the earliest frame where the game can still complete itself? Theoretically, if I submitted a movie that was faster simply because it ended input earlier, would it be accepted? Or would I have to find another improvement on top of that?
You just had to bring this up again... :/

Stop 'n' Swop cheats: unlock the eggs and the ice key. Rare never revealed these: most likely they were going to be revealed in Banjo-Tooie. There's no penalty for entering these. The effects are permanent and are saved in your file.
In addition, the effects of unlocking and obtaining the secret eggs and key are permanently saved across ALL game files, so if you're using those codes on your real copy of Banjo-Kazooie, make sure you have all your gaming friends watching, as I'm pretty sure you can only erase those items with a game enhancer device.

Right, I considered Cheato's codes to be more like upgrades than cheats. And if they were in a speed run, you wouldn't leave viewers wondering "So who's that floating book in the credits?"

I don't think that was about a glitch, but about the cheat codes you can enter in the sandcastle. If you were entering the codes you have to win from Cheato or Bottles' puzzles, then I think they would be fine, but I don't think we'll allow the long cheats that you have to just magically know and that let you skip levels and get infinite items. Besides, do you really want to trade actual gameplay for watching Banjo and Kazooie hammer in letters for another few minutes? It's too bad the "legitimate" cheats would never save time. Now I wish they were part of the 100% requirement. Though I guess the home puzzle ones that alter your character aren't even saved to your file, are they?

How much do you trust Wikipedia? (And did you notice that the entire movie was less than 20000 frames anyway?)

But it's not just the Jiggies that the 100% run collects too many of. You can cut out some of the notes, and all of the extra honeycombs!
