Well, the way I see it, emulator movies are like magic tricks. They look like they're played for real, but they're not, and you know that. You don't shout out to the magician, "Hey, you cheated! My buddy told me how you really did it!" No, you just think to yourself, "Wow, that guy is pretty good at fooling me into thinking something impossible happened," and enjoy the show.

That is a good thought right there. But if you people still need a good disclaimer, here is one that I thought up: "Check it out y'all! Not only was this movie not made on the real console it's for, but it used cheaty emulator tactics to perfect it, like the super magical programming trick technique cheat where the player can save a state in the middle of a movie and load it later, and the emulator will edit out the part of the movie after that state! Hooray! It probably also used cheat trick moves like futzing with the speed of the game and stuff to make it easier to play. So see, this movie makes a hard game look easy, but it's frustrating to make 'cause you have to get it perfect with all the tools (not wrenches and pliers or anything, but the special magical emulator, dummy)!" Aw, man, I haven't used a joystick in ages. I'm not even sure I have a working joystick anymore. I'm pretty comfortable with the keyboard as a controller, though, unless I want to try to set it up for multiple players.

I was just thinking to myself: Since the soldiers in the Bases automatically blow up when you destroy the circle consoles, would it be less violent to wait until they're off-screen before doing that?

Maybe to you... http://www.vgmuseum.com/mrp/screen-cv3.htm mentions a lot of the differences, some of which may be good, and some of which may be bad. I was going by the fact that it said the Japanese version had "significantly less detail in some areas," but I suppose there are some other changes to consider, like the graphical censorship, and then there's the fact that the American version's story segments would be more helpful to English-speakers... Blah... Perhaps this is one of those cases where the exported version is changed enough that we really need to do a separate run for each version out there. I know we talked about the difficulty change in the game in another topic.

But "screwing with the vids" is great fun! I say we also do a run of the American Castlevania 3 with the Japanese version's sound dubbed onto it, and then we do a video of Super Mario Brothers 3 with Contra remix songs dubbed onto it (but somehow leave the game's sound effects intact?).

Hmm... I watched the battle with Blizzard Man in Famtasia just now, and it appeared to me that when Mega Man got to four units of weapon energy, the next shot he fired didn't take any energy, but the shot after that took two units. I think there may be a tiny glitch in how the energy bar sprites are updated.

Yeah, it could be a fault in the recording compression, or a bug in the actual game, or a problem with your eyes. I could understand if you saw a bar go DOWN by one suddenly, anyway.
