Eh, I kinda wouldn't have expected it to stay in synch with the new emulator, since it's supposed to be so different now.

As I've pretty much said earlier this topic, posts trump numbers. Always.
And I say download numbers trump poll numbers! And maybe posts. But enough with the numbers; let's try harder to explain why people should watch a particular movie.

Really? I hardly noticed you were using them lately.

So some sort of double-jump trick might be all that's needed?

Don't allow the player to even get a sword until the last level.

I don't care that they don't care! Not everything can or should be obvious.

Exactly when was "shaving frames" *not* the focus of TASes in this site?
If anything, it's the opposite; it used to be about shaving frames, and is now slowly and carefully inching into a more balanced entity. These days there are lots more players than way back when, and with them came a lot of new opinions. There are people who believe that it's perfectly acceptable to make a few tradeoffs if it can make the movie more interesting to watch.
I thought I heard of more "entertainment tradeoffs" in the early days, when the videos were more of a novelty and people weren't such perfectionists. Now there are more tools to get everything perfect, so it's even more popular to shave frames. But people are also now choosing games that aren't as cool-looking to play perfectly, so that's why they have to make up other silly goals.

But I'm torn as to whether I should use a trick whereby you avoid battles by entering the menu and giving a potion to one of your team members. It saves a little bit of time compared to running away on the first move, but I personally think it's ugly.
Ugly? Avoiding random battles cannot be ugly, especially with such a funny method!

I'm with Angerfist on this one! Though maybe it's just that I feel I fit in even less here than I did before.

Right, so it's still a ROM hack, but... a ROM hack that attempts to restore the original vision of the finished product...?

http://tasvideos.org/1035M.html Should we cover the Super Mario Advance series next? I love seeing the same game with minor improvements!

Awww..... I like to type the "www." because it makes the URL feel more "proper". Leaving it out makes it look like a lazy speech shortcut.

Whatever is done, this decision of publishing would be similar to deciding whether to publish an English Mother 3 run (though that's a completely separate case...).
Wouldn't it be more similar to English Mother 1?

You need to have Read Only mode on. (Hey, this is basically the opposite of that common question, "How do I resume recording a movie after I already stopped?")

Yeah, it would be fun to see what kind of crazy shapes you could make with the paintbrush, or try to paint minimally, making Kirby skip across dotted lines and such. And if I remember correctly, you can just tap enemies to kill them and tap Kirby to "energize" him, so this game might get pretty broken if you know exactly where to tap.

Don't forget to test if items appear in different relative positions depending on whether MegaRockMan is standing, jumping, or climbing. Maybe something different happens if you jump off the ladder on the frame when you fire the weapon.

Oh, that's good that you found a fast way to avoid the shield. I was about to recommend finding a weapon that traveled so slowly that by the time it hit, the shield would be already down, as with Bubble Lead on Buster Rod G.

So you're saying that if Mario enters the water for just one frame, and on this single frame he happens to be standing on the ground precisely in front of the door, he should open it?

Interesting, how did you decipher the AI? Do you mean you looked at the actual code of the game to see what triggered Leeper's movements, or did you just try lots of experiments? I remember the first FDS Eggerland had very different AI for all its enemies, and it would be nice to know what would make them move the best way for making a new time attack.
