Haha, I love that. Reminds me of when I started watching that movie First Blood... "All this trouble to catch one vagrant?"

Yeah, I remember that was an alternate method of jumping, and possibly the only method in the sequel. Say, does anyone remember if you have to beat a level to save the costume pieces you collect? Because maybe you could skip them, get 5 gold cards first, then come back for them if that's not the case. At least that would fix that one Blue Resort level if we can't shave enough time off.

Yeah, maybe you can wait and do Chrono Trigger on the DS in a few years if it's different enough.

Also, I believe LA DX has a crazy glitch not in the original. So if the PSX Chrono Trigger does...
I really doubt it. As far as I know, the Playstation version is just an emulation of the Super Nintendo game with loading times and FMVs added, and you don't watch a TAS for those. You might as well do runs of the RockMan Complete Works series so you could have slightly different strategies using the instant weapon switch buttons and different HUDs and sometimes music!

Hmm, didn't think about that. Should have thought about it since a similar thing happens in Mega Man Xtreme (GBC).
Really? Where was that? I was thinking of doing some planning on the Mega Man Xtreme topics.

I believe you restart with an inventory full of P-Wings once you beat the game.
I've heard this doesn't always happen, and it depends on something you do near the end of the game, like which Bowser you beat. I'm not sure.

You explained it pretty well though. Maybe you should contribute to the wiki or something.

Maybe next time, you can attempt a run of the Four Swords portion with four players.
Would four players be best, or could it be faster with fewer players? Four Links might be a little slower when you have to get them to all do the same thing at the same time.

If it even used the current working directory as the base, it would be great. But apparently, since Windows 95, the concept of current working directory was promptly thrown out the window. So it always assumes that you want to save to My Documents or to your desktop.
Hmm, weird, 'cause for me, Windows XP does seem to keep track of my current working directory, or at least it remembers the last folder I where saved or opened a particular kind of file.

Doesn't mean no one should bother to fix the bug, though.

This is why I hate message boards that discourage "bumping". Making an old topic new again doesn't hurt anyone.

If you want to make a casual TAS, it might be a good idea to not watch the published run, and instead try to make things on your own. Then, when you're finished, you can watch it and see where and how you make mistakes and such.
What really makes this a good idea is that you may find different methods for completing the game that the previous author never thought of. If you watched the old movie first, you're more likely to just follow along the same path.

Is there an option to put that option back, just in case someone reeeeeeeally really wants to record from a reset?

Sounds great, too, except for the boss theme, which sounds like some sort of deranged Parasite Eve remix.
Didn't the Japanese version have some silly hip-hop music for the boss theme, with a different Robotnik laugh at the beginning?

I just hate how many newer games make you unlock some of the higher difficulties. Why can't it be my choice whether I'm ready to graduate to a tougher game? Plus, that messes up the possibility of using the highest difficulty in runs for this site, because you're supposed to start from a clean slate. You'd have to make another run to unlock the higher level, and at that point, you've already got a run of the regular game...

Well the header mentions "discussions about games" "and other playing topics" so I guess it doesn't matter.

I've played Portal and listened to the song at the end, and I didn't like it then. The fact that every single gamer on the internet references it eighteen times a day doesn't help its comedy either.
I liked it the first time, but I hate when people dub it onto their gameplay videos because they don't know how to capture sound.

Now that just makes me want to ask more questions. Why can't you charge up or slide? Why don't they use the old Mega Man logo? Where do those Dark Mega Men come from?

I think if a hard reset is the first thing you do after you start recording a movie, then it might work.
