Sometimes I wonder if we're beginning to have too many FAQs, making it hard to find what you need or where to start if you're new.

Wait, Xkeeper said this topic was about stuff in actual games, but people are linking stuff from just anywhere, not about games. Or are they playing a game of "Gross-Out" now?

Frankly, I'd rather see a 100% run, or at least an 'all Rainbow Drops' run (the difference being that the former needs to go through all 6 bonus stages and also get the Girl Blob - or an actual girl, if the Japanese version is your preference), that absolutely owns the special bosses after Dedede.
Heh, I didn't even realize the girl counted towards the percentage. I just remember getting stuck at 94% for a while until I tried getting a perfect on a bonus game and finding out it was possible... And sure, 100% tends to be better for Kirby runs because you're forced to change powers some extra times and not spam the same "fastest method of going right" ability all the time. Would there be room for 2 runs? I actually remember the "bad" ending as being longer than the "good" ending.

Isn't plugins assisting with the emulation what makes it high-level and thereby fast? Or am I greatly wrong here?

I dunno, how do you go about the Bomberman games where the walls are randomly generated? Just try a thousand different set-ups for each level?

Wow, that many people like to turn the input display on just for watching a movie? I only have it on when I'm making a movie, or I'll find it too annoying.

Oh really? You need to actually do some healing at the center to count it as your last pokemon center visit point, not just walk in there?

But you speed through the menus so fast anyway! Can't you watch what the characters are doing to figure it out?

Sure, this game is quick and cool to watch. I just had one little problem of deciding which power-ups to get when, so I'll try to get back to you on that.

1) Why would you be comparing to the unassisted run instead of the assisted one? That goes against the spirit of TASing.
How? Why can't you compare?
Kyrsimys wrote:
Saying that TAS and speedrun times shouldn't be compared is retarded. The stupid saying originated when some people over at the speedrunning community felt offended by TASes and the people here tried to be as politically correct as possible and went overboard. Of course the times should be compared, the most interesting thing about the time is how much faster it is than the speedrun. There's nothing wrong about it. Even a mongoloid understands that you're not comparing the times directly and thus putting the speedrun time down because the TAS is faster.

2) Language selection is very, very important in RPGs. English is understood by 98% of this site's users. Japanese is understood by <10% of this site's users.
So? So you admit the RPG runs are just big storyfests, or what?

Hey how about you put all the stuff that's on the top onto the bottom so I won't have to hit my scroll wheel four times to have every message board in the same window? Because I like having all the board forumsesa in the same window.

Well if you had just used the Japanese version in the first place then this wouldn't be a problem.

As long as you're making runs for two endings, you may as well make a run for every ending then!!!!

Yes, reseting will alter the attack pattern, but that seems to be the only way.
Wait, so are you saying that this can only be done as a segmented run? A tool-assisted time-attack would contain tons of resets for manipulating the luck that might actually make the run longer in order to make the route work?

It would be a good option to not replace his run with this new one but add it in another category, simply because it indeed cuts out alot of the game story and shows a amazingly cool Lavos strategy with Magus, which alone is worth a look.
STOP IT I'm sick of people who are too scared to obsolete anything. It's not as if the obsoleted movie doesn't have its own page you can always refer back to. And how is the category any different?

Just make the best movie you can using rerecords, then carefully copy it into a new movie without using rerecords. Bam.

But remember, Chamale is thinking about the time of the "final controller input", not the time that the ending sequence begins. I admit it's a little silly, just trying to crunch down your length of play time on the submission info rather than truly making the movie shorter, but hey...

Basically we need to check if there is a frame of opportunity to jump just after the last text box is cleared but before the star appears.

I don't think that button code works in the emulator anyway. Does anyone know what piece of hardware actually handles that? It's probably just remapping the coordinates the stick sends on some low level. In any case, this sounds like the equivalent of someone leaving their controller overturned on the floor and saying, "Ha ha, my speedrun is over already, technically, because I don't have to touch the controller anymore!"

Inverted Song of Time? Maybe we should say things like "speed up time" or "skip to 2nd day 6 am" instead.

I didn't have any knowledge of this game before, but was amazed to see that the entire SNES version (which happened to be my first submitted, and subsequently cancelled, TAS) has the EXACT same levels and bosses, they're just about 3 times longer.
How can they be exactly the same if they're three times longer? Do you mean that everything moves thrice as slowly?
