Audio select might be a good solution if possible.

Besides obviously getting the fastest time possible, this movie will (like hopefully every other movie) aim for entertainment. If it's obvious after the first level that it's a cool concept, but not entertaining, we won't finish the movie. We certainly didn't pick it to prove that it's possible to complete the games with 1 input. The cool thing about a bigame movie is the fact that one input completes more than one game. If you'd make a movie which completes both Arkanoid, Monopoly, while still not losing a ball at Pinball, the whole idea of the concept is gone. mm3-mm6 are not only in length more simular, but also stuff like sliding makes it look a lot more like 1 input is controlling it. Besides; a great part of the mm1 and mm2 movie are based on glitches... which would be a lot harder to implement in this sort of movie, and wouldn't be any more special than what you can already see in the normal version of mm1 and mm2. It's also pretty hard to focus on more than one movie while watching, but four movies is still somewhat viewable, since they can form a square. Six movies would be a lot harder to watch, since you'd watch them in a 3x2 setup. But please feel free to post if you (and why you) like a mm1-mm6 movie better, we might have forgotten something while deciding... but the fact that it would complete the entire nes mm-series wasn't good enough since (like stated in this post) we think it might be less entertaining (which is one of the main goals).

Maybe there should be a third category to vote on. I don't feel like these two give a full representation of the movie. Perhaps it would be good if people were able to vote on how hard they think it was to make the movie. The SMB1 run obviously has a 10/10 for perfection... but it's a lot easier to perfect than some other games. Points I think which would define the how hard the movie was to make are: - Length - Amount of lag the game has - Randomness - Amount of planning required - Game physics - How well the movie was played (you can already vote on this seperately) - How entertaining it was (you can vote on this seperately aswell) I think all of these things add up to how hard it is to make a certain movie, but I probably forgot some. (note that although those points might seem like rating the 'hardness' of the game more like rating the 'hardness' of making the movie, it is intended to rate how hard it was to make the movie... which is why 'how well the movie was played' should be taken into account)

I completed the game once on normal, and once on hard... then I did my first try for a speedrun.

First try on speedrun I got 38:11 I should be able to do it faster but I'll never get 20:44 I think.

Ok, that's somehow good news. It's often not possible to get the same randomness... and 76 frames is nearly nothing on 30 minutes, so easil lost on randomness. Looking very much forward to seeing this submission :)

Don't know if this was already posted, or if everyone already knew... but if you skip the fourth ball, it's best to keep the savepoint under the tower, and press space right after you collect the second ball. Getting the third ball can be done slightly easier and faster, if you: - drop down the spider to the second room by pressing red - press the blue switch right after you dropped down the spider (the blue switch at the first room) - wait 5 seconds - press red again, and proceed If you get to the second room now, you'll notice that the spider already advanced to the third room (again, I don't know if this was already known... so sorry if it was).

The game keeps crashing for me sometimes when I enter a cave, a 'level', or when I leave them. I have the first 7 balls at the moment, but I don't think I'll continue... since doing stuff over because the game crashes is too frustrating to me.

Which last one desynced? If you are talking about Bisqwit's movie... you need the Europe version of the ROM, and play the movie file with Famtasia, but I would suggest getting the avi instead.

Then I'll also repeat what I mentioned on IRC: - TMNT3 (either single, or 2-player) - Super Mario Kart - Rockin' Kats

Aaand I still fail to improve levels 2,3,4 - seems they are 1-frame perfect.
The second level isn't frame perfect :P

ANYWAY, here are the currently starred runs I think clearly do NOT deserve a star: NES Gradius NES River City Ransom SNES Umihara Kawase
I agree with you on Gradius and RCR. Umihara Kawase is a short fun movie. I'd say it deserves a star, at least for now. If there are too many star movies in the future, maybe some big project can obsolete this little movie's star, but for now I'd say lets keep it.

This run wasn't an any% right? I always thought any% was something different than a warp run...

You should make sure you: - Have the right version of Mupen - Have the same ROM (V1.0) - Use the same plugins - Have 'Raw Data' turned on, at input settings

Route looks good Mwl, but could somebody put me out of my misery on this? Every time I see those segments I'm convinced this would be faster; Segment 2 1. Link's House (Exit) 2. Kokiri Forest (Get Fairy Ocarina) X. Go straight to Child Spirit. X. Save and Quit. Segment 3. 3. Hyrule Field 4. Go to the Castle. Get ZL. 4. Hyrule Field (Backwalk to Lake) 4. Lake Hylia (Get 20 Rupees) 5. Fishing Pond (Get Golden Scale) 6. Lake Hylia (Retrieve bottle with letter) 7. Swim through tunnel to Zora's Domain. ... (Segments 3 & 4 become one segment) 5. Zora's Domain (Show King bottle) 6. Zora's Fountain (Bomb boost into Jabu-Jabu)
This seems faster indeed. I don't know if it's possible... but wouldn't going back after getting the silver gaunlets, jumping in the water at Gerudo Valley to get to the gold scale also be an option?

Might as well give my opinion about this... The movie wasn't judged yet, so everyone may vote what he thinks on it. I always like it when people tell what they voted, and write down a line or two about why they voted this. I would agree with nico if this thread was already at 'eaten by grue'. Then, there would have been no need for someone to say they didn't like the movie. Constructive criticism would be appropriate in this case. However, since this movie wasn't judged yet, I don't see a problem with Phil voting no, and explaining why. nico: If you already lost all fate in the movie, then why didn't you cancel the submission?

As far as I know I used: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II - The Arcade Game (U) [!].nes Do note that this movie was made with Famtasia and for it to play correctly, you should use Famtasia. I am currently making an improvement to this movie, played with FCEU.

Indeed... since my score just got improved upon :) I'm not at all bothered by it, since I knew my score was far from unreachable. Also glad it was Leonie who beat it, since Xkeeper had already been number one for such a long time.

It's even possible to avoid 02 at all - as seen on Baxter's Channel X run (still there are moments when 02 appears, even for 2 frames).
I didn't use the memory watcher for this run (I would have if I made it now), but I timed the minimum amount of frames between two hits (which gives you the same). I noticed some strange stuff when watching my movie with 04B3. Sometimes the boss has 02, when it's definately not possible to hit him. Watch closely at the first four hits. I hit the boss every 33 frames (the minimum amount of frames), and sometimes a 02 shows up in between, and sometimes it doesn't. And it's definately not possible to hit him 32 frames after you hit him before... so you shouldn't rely on the 04B3 too much (it is usefull though). It is true that I am not hitting the boss every 33 frames the entire battle. The battle is (when playing normally) very laggy, and I avoided it as much as possible... but it seemed not possible to get it entirely without a few frames of lag. Also note that 04B3 doesn't notice if there is any lag, so you should watch out for this.
