I think somebody should make a fcm of this and post it here for us. I want to see it all the levels of this hack but I don't want to play it myself.
Here you go This movie aims for: - Game completion - Not getting hit It doesn't aim for speed... :P, Graveworm's fcm is played far better, but this one completes the entire game...

The easiest way to edit an fcm is using Phil's site.

You were working on a Jackie Chan movie? I do hope you know some other improvements than this one, since it will (if I'm correct about this) only save a few frames in the one room that starts out vertically. If this is the case, you might as well have told me about it, since it it's worth playing the entire game again for...

anyway, that hiper jump also saves time on others stages of the game.
Please suprise me, but the extra jump doesn't give you can extra speed horizontally... and it can only be done right after a level starts (at least, that's what I got from it).

No you don't. I'm currently working on something else, but I'll try to improve this movie of yours when it's finished... so you'd better not hurry and take your time.

Hehe, I didn't know about that. Either way, it doesn't save time when going horizontally. There is only one room in the entire game that starts vertically, and it's at the very end of the game. I can only see this trick saving a few frames at most at this particular room. As far as I know the rest of the run is frame perfect, so I might as well just keep the run, and redo the last minute of the run (including this trick which will probably save a few frames). There is no point in redoing the entire run.

How much time are you gaining over your Famtasia run? I am curious because your last run looked nearly optimal to me.
I really like my old Famtasia run. I can watch it over and over and I'll probably still watch it eventually after this new version if finished. Imo, the run looks pretty smooth and optimal (like you stated). This was the first TAS I ever made, long before I knew anything about luck manipulation or anything. There are also new available tools now that help greatly. In contrary to my previous run, I now (am able to) use: - a frame counter - frame advance - luck manipulation - a memory watcher - knowledge I didn't have 2 years ago I actually wanted to keep the time I'm gaining a suprise, so for those who don't want to know; don't read this small text beneath. I'm now 51 seconds faster than my previous run after beating Bebop. Level 3 starts for me at 4:19, and for my old run at 5:10 (don't draw any conclusions about the total time I'll gain, it cannot be determened out of this).

AnS's movie did what I mentioned earlier, which is faster.

Diman: you should also try this strategy (and maybe even do some testing if it can be improved).

Second level now finished :D (Note that I count levels, like you can select them at the with the level select code... so I counted the street level with Bebop as level 2, and the sewer level with Baxter Stockman is level 3. The game count those 2 levels as one stage, but some stages are very long if counted this way...)

I definately agree to that. I can't help you on what to include though, don't know the game that well.

I would suggest doing a super mario 2 TAS. If it's for a school project, you don't need to get it published here, so it wouldn't matter if it's slower than the current run (your teachers/classmates won't care for frames anyway). You'll have a short movie which shows plenty of cool stuff, which wouldn't be possible in normal playing.

I'd vote 'no' to any Dr. Mario movie which isn't faster than this+1 second. I'm completely accepting that this submission was rejected... but I do think it sets a standard for what a Dr. Mario run should at least accomplish (note that I mentioned '+1 second' since I used a soft reset).

Hmz... I wish I could do a TAS for school... Either way, NES Kirby is a great game (also for TASing), and the current published run is improvable. But since you mentioned you didn't want to spend too much time on it (if Kirby is done 'right', it will take a long time), I wouldn't recommend NES Kirby. I wouldn't really know what to recommend, since the more time you put into it, the better the result will look. I would pick a game which, when TASed, shows something that obviously couldn't be done with regular playing.

After I played the first 10 seconds of the run, I concluded I like Donatello's moves a lot better. If he walks, his weapon looks kinda 3D, and his special also looks a little better imo.

Recently started working on this actively. I just finished the first level. The movie will be a single player Donatello run. Sorry I didn't really work on it since my previous post in this thread, but I was working on other things (such as Mega Man 5). I'm more motivated to work on this right now, than on Arkanoid... so that will have to wait for a little while (sorry). I'm not going to release any wips. The end result will look better if you see the entire movie at once, and I'm quite confident on how I am doing. Working with RAM adresses it a big plus. TASing this game is very frustrating, but I think I'll be able to finish it this time :)

I disagree. A regular speedrunner surely doesn't have to work harder than a TASer (neither does the TASer). It's a whole different thing, and you can't say one is harder than the other. (I could write a lot about this... but I'll leave it at this.)

Again, I believe it's a different thing. You are right that doing something 'extremely physical' gives you a feeling making a TAS doesn't give you... but then again, making a TAS is also self-rewarding, and gives you a feeling doing something 'extremely physical' doesn't give you. (Again I could write a lot more about this...)

You don't need to do all the crazy glitches in at megaman 1 and 2 in a megaman 1-6 run, since the games can be completed a significant amount of time faster than megaman 3-6. The time that will count will be the final time (the time where the last game is completed), so there should be no problem for megaman 1 and 2.

Very nice work Diman! I'm really looking forward to it. I'm sorry, but I don't think I can be your partner for this run. I'm very busy at the moment and I am currently working on another tas. I do want to help you with giving tips and feedback. The wip you posted looked very good. I did some testing on the menu, and I think you could have saved 2 frames. If I were you I would also do some testing if slinging around the buildings is faster than using the barrels to boost. If you grab the buildings very rapidly after another you also have great speed. This could be faster than the strategy you used. Hope this helps you a little, keep up the good work!

http://ccgi.gdward.plus.com/cgi-bin/tetris/index.php?replay=2115 New record in amount of lines cleared for the flipped mirrored next hidden death mode. Too bad it's not a new high score. Note I had some good chances of making a 3 liner at the start..... if only...... ;) /Edit :D http://ccgi.gdward.plus.com/cgi-bin/tetris/index.php?replay=2118

Using the list of ideas is possible, but I don't know if it there were any updates recently... If the game you are working on already has a topic, you can post your plans there. If it hasn't got one already, you are always able to create a new topic about that game. People will notice it better, and the people watching the topic will have some interest in the game. Using DeHackEd's upload site (which you appearantly did for this movie) is also a good idea. If you post your wip at a topic that is related to the same game more people will probably watch it. (Sorry for bringing this up again, but) have you considered making a new version of your Rockin' Kats run? There are a lot of improvements that can be made. I'm getting the idea a lot of people really want to see a new (full) Rockin' Kats tas, and if you aren't making it, maybe someone else will obsolete your run in the future. I think this would be a good game to pick for your next tas.

I think there is no need for a peach only run. If a peach only run is accepted, then so should a mario, luigi and toad only run... which would make a total of 6 SMB2 runs!
Phil wrote:
Maybe you but not all +7300 other people that were interested.
Everything that has the name 'SMB2' will get lots of downloads. If the pacifist metroid movie, which someone recently suggested, was made, it would also get a lot of downloads because the game is named metroid. I'm voting 'no' for this movie. I would probably have voted no if the peach only movie was perfectly played (since I don't think there should be a peach only movie at all)... but besides that, this movie can be improved by a lot.

its an improvement and it obsoletes a famtasia movie, i cant believe you people are voting no it can be improved? so what? if we were to take off every single movie that could be significantly (over 5 seconds) improved on this site there wouldn't be many left
... If it is known that a 9 minute movie can be improved by over 5 seconds (possibly 30) it will not be accepted. When the current peach movie was published, people thought it was perfect (or at least VERY close to it).

The game you are talking about is not a mario 9, or a hack or anything. The game is called: Jackie Chan's Action Kung Fu Rom requests are forbidden, so you won't get any further help on this here, but you can download the tool assisted speedrun I did on this game: http://tasvideos.org/movies.cgi?id=405

Why this movie of Channel X? The current full movie of Rockin' Kats doesn't include Channel X. If it did you'd have to wait about 3 minutes and 10 seconds before it shows up after the movie ended. Most people probably won't even notice it. This movie reminds me a little of 2 movies: - Legend of Zelda (seconds quest): both have another harder version of the game after the credits are over. Both movies use a password (entering ZELDA as your name) to acces it. - Adventure of Lolo 2 (Pro levels): both provide a shorter, and a lot harder (for regular playing) version of the game. Does Rockin' Kats need/deserve two movies? Imo, the game is great, and it's perfectly suited for tasing, and doing Channel X after the normal game seems to me like doing zelda's second quest right after the first.
