I'm pretty sure it's none of those things, maybe it's just the difference between famtasia and fceu.

After looking a little closer, it really seems that you entered level 1 a frame faster. I can't see where you saved that frame. I just replayed the first 13 seconds, and I'm pretty sure I didn't lose a frame, but yours is still a frame faster. Any idea why?

Here it goes: My time after 3-10 was 30409, so your time is 300 frames = 5 seconds faster! I watched your movie, and according to the differences I saw I made the following measurements (these measurements van be 1 or 2 frames of): BoMF: Beginning level 1-1: 732 frames After 2-1: 5970 frames After 2-5: 9291 frames After 3-1: 10854 frames After 3-4: 15609 frames After 3-5: 17769 frames Beginning 3-6: 18366 frames After 3-6: 20481 frames After 3-7: 22986 frames After 3-9: 27351 frames After 3-10: 30109 frames Baxter: Beginning level 1-1: 733 frames After 2-1: 5959 frames After 2-5: 9397 frames After 3-1: 10961 frames After 3-4: 15718 frames After 3-5: 17854 frames Beginning 3-6: 18711 frames After 3-6: 20826 frames After 3-7: 23301 frames After 3-9: 27771 frames After 3-10: 30409 frames I think the following can be concluded out of these measurements: Getting to level 1-1: BoMF 1 frame faster >>> this is probably a measurement error. (sliding looks cooler, but it isn't faster (isn't slower either)) Level 2-1: Baxter 12 frames faster >>> This level took me a long time, and still I'm not really happy with my route, but I can't find a faster one. I'm a little faster because I take the upper heartpiece before pushing the snakey. Level 2-5: BoMF 117 frames faster >>> Main reason is the fact you took the heartpiece without pushing blocks in front of the Don Medusa, and I did. Level 3-1: BoMF 1 frame faster >>> this is probably a measurement error. (it is possible that you really are 1 frame faster because we don't take the exact same route) Level 3-4: BoMF 2 frames faster >>> this is probably a measurement error. (we do take completely different paths) Level 3-5: Baxter 24 frames faster >>> I tried this level lots of times and found a way not to wait a single frame with pushing the blocks in front of the ........ (what are they called?) Beginning 3-6: BoMF 260 frames faster >>> I didn't do the 'trick' to skip the sequence with the egg. Level 3-6: Same amount of frames >>> Obvious, because we took the exact same path (must have been sleeping when I selected this level). Level 3-7: Baxter 30 frames faster >>> Can't exactly tell where I am faster (difficult to explain), but I do take a different route. (I always found a way to improve this level a little) Level 3-9: BoMF 105 frames faster >>> Your route is just better than mine. Level 3-10: Baxter 119 frames faster >>> A completely different route. This level has a lot of possible routes to complete, so obviously we had different paths. (can't really explain my route is better; you'll understand). ============================= I'll mail my movie to you, if you want.

But how did you enter the level 20 with speed high so fast??? I had to scroll from level 0 to level 20, then go down and put speed on high when I tried this...

Luck abuse? That's the only real + on the movie... The only thing that can be called luck in the game is the way the viruses are placed in the beginning... All the capsules that fall are determened after the level is started... so the only way to abuse this is by starting the level a few frames later... You'd have to find a good level with suiting capsuls... but it never completely fits... I think the level chosen is pretty good...

No offence... but I can play like this on a real nes. I started making a movie of this game once... and it can be done a lot faster. The only thing I don't get is why you didn't have to scroll to level 20 at the beginning of the movie.

It looks great! One thing trough (it's probably not faster, since you would have done that), but wouldn't it be faster if you grabbed the first 'box' instead of the second in the fight against the bird (before the last boss) and could the last door (before the movie stops not be entered slightly faster?

Robocop 2 would be possible I think. You can actually jump in this game, and you need to get a certain amount of criminals/suspects/whatever and a certain amount of nuke in each level.

I'm not hating you for that at all. This is a great improvement. It looks a lot better, and is 4 squares - 2 frames faster. Thanks a lot! I haven't begun playing again, after wednesday I have some more time.

You're right (thanks, I think)... guess I'll have to make a new version then (number 5 :S ). If that's the only thing I change the movie will be 23:22. I need to improve it 4 frames for FCEU to show a second less. I hope I'll find something else to improve. Too bad it's in the third level, if there are any other possible improvements, please let me know.

In that room I don't push the first two blocks I get entirely down, this saves time. The con is that the don medusa's keep going up and down, and in order to get past them I need to wait short moments. This is faster than pusing those first blocks entirely down though. (the pauses I take are as short as possible (if you would walk a frame earlier than I did, you'll get killed by the don medusa's (try it out if you don't believe it)))

I made a fault in 4-2, it could have been about 40 frames faster, so I have to replay a few levels. I don't have a lot of time to spare, so the progress is pretty slow.

I'm almost done with level 4. I'm a few seconds faster than I was before. I disliked 3-9, because I was about a frame short of finishing faster, but I had to wait for de medusa's to pass once more. If you finish level 3, could you tell me hownmany frames it took? (from the start untill the screen turn totally black after lolo is done cheering in 3-10)

I think I'll go 4,5,6,7. I wouldn't know why to choose a different route... I think the two you named, and 4,5,6,7 are just as fast.

After seeing how nice the eggerland movie looked, I thought this game deserved a speedrun aswell. Bag of Magic Food already said he'd make a speedrun of Lolo 3, but I think it'll only end up looking better if more people would try it. After I finished the Lolo 1 speedrun I started on this game, but only played the first 4 levels. I'm replaying those first 4 levels now (currently completed up till level 3-5 and about 80 frames faster than the first time played them), and hopefully I'll pull through and finish all 17 levels this time. The only bad news is that it probably will take a while to find out the fastest possible route for all 17 levels.

I also started a LoZ speedrun, but I have very little time to work on it, and my progress is real slow, so it will take a long while before it's, if it will ever be, finished. I just completed level 3, but I don't know exactly what route I'll take, like if I should gamble two or three times. I also wonder why the current zelda fmv's use the flute twice each time.

Thx for noticing, there was an error in the 132 frames one, it's now 126 frames again. So you're right, it doesn't take more frames.

Thx, I'll give it a try. /edit It just doesn't seem to work with 2 controllers activated, it reads 40 00 40 as 40 40 40. I got it with two controllers up to 132 frames now, which is just as fast as the sleepzteam run.

I wasn't trying to make a new speedrun or anything, but I felt like playing Zelda, and why not record it? The fastest I could finish the menu-screen in by playing on 5% speed was 141 frames (this is the point where you see the first line of map you can walk on). I was wondering how fast the sleepzteam speedrun did this, and it appeared to be 132 frames. A version played by Michael Fried did it in 129 frames. Both where done using a binary editor, but looking at this, I found a way to do it in 126 frames. After this I continued playing, and after having the first half minute done, I watched it and noticed the 'pause-up-B'-trick didn't work when I rewatched it. Then I saw this thread and knew what the problem was (the 2nd controller wasn't active), so I asked here if it could be turned on afterwards (that's about all the info there is). The problem is I somehow can't get through the menu-screen untill that point in 126 frames if the 2nd controller is activated (it's like it reacts slower, e.g. it accepts 40 00 40 00 40 with only one controller active, but when the second controller is also active 40 00 00 00 40 00 00 00 40 seems to be the fastest possible) (although the sleepzteam somehow does it slightly faster than this using 2 controllers).

There is no way to activate the second controller in recording after you started making your fmv with only one controller? (starting a new fmv with 2 players, and copying the fmv I already made onto the new fmv with a binary editor doesn't seem to work)

Well, it the binary editing worked for me... but it seems as if there is a random factor of some sort, because after a while it gets stuck on something different less than a frame. Although it didn't entirely work out, it helped a lot, and I'm almost at the point I was before.

After finishing about 10 minutes of a speedrun I discovered I could improve something in the first minute (33 frames faster). Now I have problems playing through the part I already played keeping those 33 frames. Is there a way of taking the improved first minute and 'pasting' it over the first part of the 10 minute fmv? (sorry if this has been asked before, but I couldn't find it)

I just submitted an improved version of Adventures of Lolo. It's 22 seconds faster than the previous one. Hope you'll enjoy it.
