Yeah I was about to ask, how linear is the game(I haven't played it in awhile)? While the job system would certainly allow for a lot of control over the game, if it's not very linear then it will still probably be very long. Of the super nintendo games, in the order of best to worst I'd probably go for FF6, FF5, FF4.

A couple weeks ago I was thinking about what a run would be like of this game while I was in class, heh. I think an aesthetic no-hit run of a 1v3 computers match would look better than any video of any game done as of yet.

Bisqwit has said he'd prefer having as few movies as possible for each game, and with the different levels of completions plus having the glitch used in each would mean 6 different movies of the game, which is why I think it should stay consistent. If this was the first metroid run, I'd say UP+A should be used, but again I think it would be best if they stayed consistent. If somebody plans on improving the other two movies using UP+A, then I'd say it should be fine for this one.

I mainly am against up+A to keep perspective with the other runs. I mean if the "fast as possible" run doesn't use it in an attempt to be as fast as possible, why should this? Plus the manual argument.

The run desynchs in the battle with shredder's machine, so if you decide to do it again, at least you won't have to start ALL over.

Very nice. But in some instances(the early on moments stick out particularly) wouldn't it be faster to attack as you jump? I checked it out, and it seems if you attack them at the apex of your jump you stop horizontal movement, but if you attack on the descent you keep moving. Why did you opt for stopping to make all attacks(though sometimes you do attack while jumping)?

Well done. I forget, what's the purpose of looking at the gwar ticket board the first time around? Do you get an item when you do? If not, I don't think it's necessary. I'm a little curious about some of the damage taking spots, and if it would be better to wait until you can jump without taking damage, but I trust you tested each. Otherwise, I only wish that we were able to see what was going on half the time, like what items you were picking up and stuff. But, not your fault. One of my biggest worries concerning this was when you were running out of the drive-in movie from the fat woman- I thought we'd never see her, but then suddenly towards the end you see her hand popping out from the right, then all of her in her beauty, and it was just funny.

Oh, another variable I forgot, which would probably be more important than any of those, is how far out of the way each orb is/how often you get each type from a mandatory boss- I'm sure sword is probably the most popular in that respect.

Looks good so far. I hate to nitpick on such a small thing, but I think you could have dashed at around frame 11330 and didn't. That's the only mistake I really saw. Otherwise, do you think it's possible to critical more often during the boss fight? As long as it doesn't take you more time to manipulate luck than to attack normally twice, it's worth it. Otherwise, good job with the manipulation- gem missle would've been a pain.

See the site's FAQ for help on making movies(along with the other pages such as Rules & Guidelines). You'll have to experiment a little bit with Snes9x to get the hang of it, but it's pretty simple to learn. Good luck, and feel free to ask for any help(might not want to post future questions in a console-specific forum).

You really just have to weigh variables with each other. I mean is the whip really necessary? 1) How long it takes to switch to the whip for the rare crossing a chasm 2) How long it would take to beat final boss with uncharged sword 3) How long it would take to switch to axe for rock obstacles 4) How much time would be lost due to losing the small improvement on spear.

Two of the most important statements I'd like to add a bit to:
- Pygmy characters have faster casting times. NPCs can cast spells as soon as they start recovering. Bracelets have a big resist to the midge mallet.
This is crucial. This means that in a boss battle, you will never want to control the sprite: access its magic while controlling another character, tell it to cast the spell, and the exact frame after the summoned spellcaster disappears, cast the spell a second time. It will be cast so fast that not only can the boss not react, but you won't even give time for the damage numbers to appear. I don't know how leveling spells would work, but I THINK this also means that you can cast spell after spell on a weak enemy and stop after your MP runs out, so that you don't need to run around looking for other enemies. Of course, this means that you will only get XP for the one enemy, but I think the only stat that will affect gametime in the end will be Magic Attack(I think that's one, anyway). - My favorite weapons are the sword(obstacles, final battle), whip(best long range, obstacles), and spear(wide sweep). Forge them to the max. Other weapons get disabling abilities at a certain level, so keep it that way. I think spear is really the best weapon in terms of sheer power. The only problem is you can't cut things or cross obstacles, but you have the sword and whip for that. But about the other weapons disabling, this is a good point. One of the most useful weapons in the game is the Sprite Spear for its ability to cast balloon on whatever you attack. But I guess this won't necessarily be useful in a time attack.

Fair enough, the overdump rule was there- I just saw that the different versions of roms rule was added after seeing the movie, and reacted to that. But since the overdump rule was already there, it could have indeed been avoided.

Good luck: haven't watched it recently, but my suggestions would be to make the self scrolling stage more exciting(ex. go way closer to bullets- play chicken with them almost), and, yes, the boxing stage. I know, I know, you're tired of hearing it, but I bet that's the most improvable part of the run, even without being able to get him stuck in the corner.

Tough luck... I must say, I don't necessarily support the decision. Maybe if it was a matter of seconds it would be possible that the rom version would make that difference, but in this instance there was quite a change. Did the movie not work with the original rom? edit: Additionally, it wasn't in the rules that this was necessary, and this is really the first time a movie has ever had to be published for this reason. Because of that, I think this should still be accepted.

Without slowdown or rerecording the runs would be pretty much the same as any on SDA, but maybe it's a project that can be worked on in the future.

So just to make it clear, we'd love for you to stick around, but we'll still look upon your work as anyone else's as carefully as possibly.

Regardless, I feel that your efforts should go to a game that has not been done already, as is the case pretty much with this one.

We don't really consider what we're doing to be acting superior: many people who haven't made a single movie or have had their movies rejected react the same way we often do. We say what's wrong more than we say what's right because it's the former that really sticks out: if half of someone's movie is amazing and half is crap, we're going to focus on improving the bad parts. Additionally, english is not the primary language for many people here, and so while those people tend to have a firm grasp on the language, they may not be sure of the extreme subtleties of how some words might be received in comparison to others.

The only things that could go wrong in my mind are a) some wacky desync(which may take some time to occur. If it does, play the rest of that screen yourself, and hex edit in the frames again the next room). and b) random item drops(this can and almost definitely will happen). I guess I'll write up a FAQ page about it now. Yes, a FAQ page. I pronounce it fack.

I was sort of hoping for 102% also, but up to you. I happened to play this game through normally recently, and as I was doing so I was wondering if perfectly jumping up one rope rather than climbing it would be faster. If the jumps were timed right, I think it just might be faster. Does diddy have any advantages to dixie? If there are any, I'm sure they're in the speed department. I think Kiddy is a faster rope climber than her, and diddy might be as well.
