that'd be brilliant- I believe the super nintendo version was especially quirky compared to ones on other systems, including that wacky green haired guy and so many rewards.

I guess this would be a long term goal since those who can edit the website sound pretty busy, but perhaps a rating system could be implemented(1-5?), and could even allow the website viewer to sort them by rating. The players of the movies that don't get rated very high would notice and perhaps be pushed a little harder to try next time. edit: to clarify, I meant the rating system for already existing movies. but despite this I see that it is under the "to do" section of the website.

Fixed. thanks, meant to check that. Man, I wish I thought about how less levels wouldn't mean less time, heh. That tadpole level takes so long to complete(and took so long to do), so I guess it would be best to compare it to other routes- when I planned it I guess I just thought "less levels + smaller numbered/easier levels= less time"

Okay, I got a real solid run in, getting up to the tadpole in 1:20(and finishing his level at 3:35). It was a pain thinking of ways to be entertaining, but I think even though it's not a fast paced level, it is fun to watch nonetheless. http://www.thezorz.com/agile/umihara3.smv Rom: Umihara Kawase(J) This is a game that I don't think could ever be 100% perfected. What you see now took several hours as it is, but I do plan on finishing the game and submitting it. It should be entertaining for those who have not played the game, and even moreso for those who have and know what a challenge it is. If you don't have it, I suggest you get it. I got it as a reccommendation off these forums and I'm glad I did, it is amazing. Suggestions welcome(as is competition): so far, I think I've been using the fastest routes possible, and executing them in an extremely close to perfect fashion. I really just want feedback now I guess, I am not going to post in the workshop until the complete version.

while it's themed, I'd think it's also the fastest way to progress through the game; assuming you avoid all obstacles which would slow you down, it may be just as fast as flying over the whole level no?

agreed with mfried- I think that flying at ground level if anything would actually be more entertaining(though harder) than running. Perfectly flying in between, under, or onto your targets would look very impressive, as well as being faster than running.

I've been trying and trying to get from 15 to 40. I just cannot get to that door, I try over and over, all kinds of methods(including the one on the website you showed me boco)... no such luck

While I haven't posting for long and only have been paying attention to time attacks since morimoto's SMB3 became widely popular, I've seen about 95% of the ones on this site and I feel that I can agree that some are just way worse than others, and I don't think I'm alone in that I can see where certain authors are just far more dedicated in achieving perfection, while at the same time keeping surprises coming. I don't think my "favorite" players are any different from the common ones, and they are clearly deserving of this. Part of the problem is also game choice. walkerboh you just mentioned that astyanax was not a very exciting game to watch, but I think that could have been somewhat premeditated ahead of time. To me, one of the most well chosen games recently was bucky o'hare, which along with super c is my favorite time attack in the past few weeks. Fast-paced, lots of variation with 4 unique characters, entertaining even in the areas where the speed of progression is fixed, and from what I remember mighty close to perfect. The only thing it was missing was familiarity, the thing that really pushed morimoto's mario 3 video to be so amazing at first. If one wants to be one of the names that's mentioned along with people like genisto and morimoto, they have to work for it.

thanks a lot. so then, is 35 really the only ending the game has? edit: oh, and 55 and 57. but there is some sort of ending at any of these stages? edit: I actually used a variation of that rocket jump in one of the levels. Another thing I found is that the length of the rope changes according to your movement, it won't reach the same point if you're moving. So in a way, you can actually extend it vertically by jumping at the right time.

www.thezorz.com/agile/umihara2.smv 3-5: going through all levels, rather than beating the game as fast as possible. So it's not really a time attack, since I just want to have fun and have a cool looking video at the same time. I don't know if it can even be beaten. How might one resume a recording where they left off?

I nominate boco to do just a couple levels, heh. There really are so many routes you can take- here's my intended best route on the first level, I screw up in a couple places but I just wanted to do a quick 5 minute job. http://www.thezorz.com/agile/umihara.smv edit: reupload it, it's much better now and 3 stages in. what a great game, heh. edit2: link fixed

I looked through some site and downloaded very many games I thought would make good speed runs. I think that aero the acrobat, bubsy, claymates, on the ball, and tiny toons would all make great speed runs as they move or can move very fast, and are pretty familiar. Of those, bubsy would probably be the best. Edited by Bisqwit: No ROM site links here.

this is somewhat out of place now, but mfried's question went unanswered. is there any way to make the hotkeys for pause, quickload, or quicksave something other than the defaults? they're so ridiculously out of the way

heh this is like an insane bionic commando- I'd love to see just a couple levels worth of movies to see how impressive it can look done by somebody else.

I was thinking about the game as a time attack but personally I think the puzzle solving/walking part of the game wouldn't be very entertaining( and takes up at least 80% of the game time), and while the fighting would be entertaining, it would not be very prevalent. But who knows.

it really is one of the most creative runs out there due to the bugs- you used all the bugs you found in it, I don't think there should be any exceptions in that case. Very well done. my question is, do the small point balls add on time when they're tallied up after you complete a level? I think they do but I can't tell.

in the phil/genisto 2 player movies, does one of you tend to always be first player/second player? I would imagine that if the project is interrupted in the middle, when you resume playing you continue playing as the same one you were from before, but I'm just curious to know if one of you is always 1st player so it's just more interesting to imagine the players. For example, which of you was flying around ducking during that battletoads boss battle, heh, things like that. Additionally, does genisto post here under a different alias?

yup, the third is from young merlin(not very well known), and the fourth is jeff's theme in maniac mansion. In the ducktales one, the first 12 seconds or whatever before it picks up are out of sync with the game's music, and I just can't figure it out. I count it in the game and there are 15 beats(rather than 16 when it does pick up), but my version is just off. don't know why.

I'm sure we've all been in a "best final fantasy" argument at some point, but honestly FF7 is my favorite game of all time. If you've beaten it, you should definitely take the time to read the plot analysis found at . It clarifies the entire plot, mentioning parts you almost definitely missed the first time around, and made me like it even more than I originally did. FF5 however, had my favorite skill system in the series(though I didn't play FF3j-not sure what the difference in skill system is between the two). I loved secret of mana but did not enjoy secret of evermore, though it was long ago and I was expecting pretty much the same stuff. But being able to cast your spells from actual items was not very enjoyable for me(call spells especially). Soul blazer is a fantastic game, and to me blows illusion of gaia out of the water. I've barely heard of terranigma, I didn't know it was in the same series. Personally, I enjoyed both breath of fire 1 and 2. You have a wide selection to choose from- I know I'm not alone in thinking the super nintendo is the best console out there.

See if anyone can recognize these 4 midis I made. I had pretty much no experience before the first one, and each of these goes both in order of me making them, and order of bad to good. The last two are pretty much exact duplicates of the real songs. You will have to copy and paste the urls- clicking them will not work. http://agile333.tripod.com/midi.mid http://agile333.tripod.com/midi2.mid http://agile333.tripod.com/midi3.mid http://agile333.tripod.com/midi4.mid

Gun Force(similar to contra) Plok Run Saber Those would would all be pretty fun, and interesting I think. edit: Kirby's tee shot? heh, that could get pretty competitive, finding the absolute fastest route from level to level.

I'm thinking of doing a time attack sooner or later, and after perusing my list of games, I think metal storm would be a very entertaining game to do(and I haven't seen any posts about it). Is anybody familiar with this game? Any idea how long it is? It does not seem like a game with apparent bugs, but if anyone knows of any, please inform me. edit: additionally, most menu selections(ie Sound) in famtasia crash the emulator, so I would be using VirtuaNES, though I'd have to figure out how to make it run in slow motion. But I'll try to figure it out.

I'm hoping to do a time attack sooner or later, and was actually doing kickle cubicle for a first as it would be very entertaining to watch. However, three things kept me from doing it: 1) it would suffer from bubble bobble syndrome in that transferring from level to level would take up about 1/3 of the video in total 2) I was experimenting, and I'm pretty sure the fastest way to travel on a stage is diagonally; I will try to explain. Say you are on a 3x3 area, and are hoping to get from one corner to the other. If you went up two squares and left two squares, you would think that that would be as fast as travelling up one square, left one square, up one square, left one square, since with that route you are never truly going diagonally. However, I noticed that if you are moving from one square to another, and turn while more than half of your body is on the second square, you will be pushed onto that second square and your turn will start sooner. So basically, the more turning you do, the better. I may be wrong, but if what I say is right, one would have to do this very frustrating turn motion constantly in order to shave off probably a total of several seconds. It's just something I wasn't prepared to do but maybe somebody else is. I hope I was clear on this point. 3) It is indeed a long game and since I haven't done a time attack yet, I'm hoping to have a somewhat shorter one so I know I'll finish it.
