right now, i'm almost to the morph bombs. it's a little slow because i'm optimising a lot, perhaps too much for a test run. i do plan on using whatever sequence breaks i need. i'll get the space boots early, probably after the power bomb, if doing so can save enough time in the metroid room in maridia (i'm thinking it will). anyway, shall i post wip's every boss or major boss? zexr0: i'm telling you to encode my wip's whenever you want.

thanks. i'll probably wait until draygon to post a wip of my test run. unless someone just wants to see it earlier.

which version of the rom are you supposed to patch this onto? edit: nevermind; it seems there's only one.

i'm doing a tas of this hack. i didn't know tas'ing super metroid was this much fun (or time consuming).

yes. kyrsimys: i find the animations at least somewhat entertaining, though this might be a holdover from when i first saw them when i was about 8.

i read it through and didn't find anything, though someone said that they got to the missile in the snail room by "glitching" through the blocks, which is something i don't know how to do.

it seems i'm missing 7 items: the missile and super missile in the maridia room before botwoon, the missile behind the crumble blocks before the blue gate in brinkstar, 2 other missile sets, an energy tank, and the x-ray scope. any hints?

i found that the golden torizo is incredibly easy if you have enough super missiles.

it looks like draygon is pretty much impossible without cheating. it might be possible with an insane amout of practise, but i've been trying all day and it's not working. those things on the side are just too unpredictable. i'm skipping it for now.

I hope you aren't going to tell me that you managed to beat both Phantoon and Botwoon with their randomness without a single savestate?
yep. why do you think it took me until yesterday to reach draygon? actually, phantoon took more practise than luck. i probably could easily beat them (phantoon) again, but i havent figured how to reliably beat botwoon yet.

the thing is, i'm doing this without savestates and slowdown. you see, at least for me, cheating takes all (well, most) the fun out of it. now, i'm wondering whether it's humanly possible to do this. i think it is; i just need a really good (and probably complicated) strategy and a lot of practise. i'll probably work on it tomorrow, though ideas are appreciated. by the way, as of the save room, i have 7 energy tanks, 1 reserve tank, and 40/15/5 missiles/etc., and of course the space boots. is it possible to get anything else before draygon? (i finally got that smv and got it to work, so i'm not interested in the video anymore.)

how do you do that without the gravity suit and with those things on the side shooting at you?

i find that draygon is almost impossible to beat. any ideas?

not necessarily, because the puzzles are well made and there are entertaining animations every 10, erm, levels, puzzles, whatever.

zexr0, that video will help me greatly. i cannot figure out how to get into the area above the speed blocks in the room after botwoon. (the reason i can't watch the smv is that i can't open .rar files for some reason, though it's more convenient to have a video file anyway.)

the blocks only lead to the top door, not the top right one.

i meant in maridia. the very large room that you can easily pass if you have the grapple hook.

i know of one; i think its number is 60. i'm not sure though; it's been a while. edit: it is 60.

you mean "take off" the boots? because that's what i've been trying to do. i could only get far enough to wall jump off the platform, though not before hitting the water. however, i just tried it again and made it, apparently because i wasn't starting far back enough. i'm not sure if your suggestion helped, but thanks anyway. EDIT: i got to maridia and have no idea what to do. do i need the grapple hook?

slightly water-filled room? i'm talking about the room right after the ship, with the long series of platforms with the small platform at the end that's seemingly impossible to get to. and i'm not sure what you mean. are you saying i need to change boots mid jump?

you mean the space boots? *sigh* i tried that, but it's virtually impossible (without save states) to get those things in one place so i can kill them with 10 super missiles. is there another set somewhere, or is it really necessary to have the space boots at this point? cause i think saturn said it's not.
